I use macbook pro with intel dual core cpu clocked @ 1.85GHz.
My ram is 1GB and mu video memory is 64MB.

Please can someone tell me what version of xcode ide i can install on this macbook and tell me if i am able to upgrade to a newer os x such as MARVICK when it comes out or wll it fail to install?
Say a OS that runs on a newer macbook retina, can i run that OS on a very old mac like this one: A1181 MODEL?

1. Taking "dyld" from 10.3.9 isn't a good idea ... have to boot from CD and move back the original.
2. Trying XCode 1.2

3. XCode is only installable on Mac OS X 10.3.x (it said!)
4. Trying XCode 2 (with gcc_select 3.3)
aragorn:~ oracle$ gcc -v

  • Hello. I was wondering what version of xcode may be installed on an old powerpc powerbook G4 with mac os x 10.4.11. What version? where may I download it from? Thanks a lot!

    Hello friends
I was wondering what version of xcode may be installed on a powerpc PowerBook G4 laptop with Mac OS X 10.4.11. What version would work on it? Where may I find it? I use the X11 package a lot.
    Thanks a lot!

You can download it for free from the Apple Developer Connection web site, but you have to have a membership. Go to this page:
    http://developer.apple.com/products/
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and the bottom right choice is the free online membership. Once you're signed up, you can log in and Download the Xcode tools. There will probably be several to choose from, including Xcode 3 and Xcode 2.5, so make sure you get the right one.

  • What version of Xcode?

Just wondering what version of Xcode is the latest to run on Leopard, and where I get it.
Xcode in Appstore is just for Lion.
    Someone?

That's Xcode 3, which comes with the SDK 4.3 too. I'm not sure why they dont have the other version of Xcode 4 in the app store which is what I currently have on my Mac running on Snow Leopard. I'm not sure where to get Xcode 4 for Snow Leopard

  • What version of photoshop works with Mac Mountain Lion?

I have an older Mac. Upgraded to Mountain Lion. Installed CS3. All works fine but for photoshop. Is there a fix? Or is there a version of photoshop that will work with ML that I can purchase?

Jim Sloan do you receive a specific error when trying to use Photoshop CS3 under Mac OS 10.8?
If you are looking for a version of Photoshop designed for Mac OS 10.7 and later then I would recommend Photoshop CC.  There a couple different options to subscribe at the moment.  You can find more details at https://creative.adobe.com/plans/offer/photoshop+lightroom?promoid=KHQFP and https://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/buying-guide-at-a-glance.html.  Please be aware that the Photoshop Lightroom Photography bundle is only available for a limited time.

Before upgrading to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, you need to first purchase a retail install disc of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to install first.
If you are from Canada or France, you need to get this discs from an online Apple website in your country.
Here is the disc you need here in the U.S. Apple Store website.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After getting this disc and installing the initial version of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, you can use OS X Software Update feature to update to OS X 10.6.8 where that update gives you access to the Mac App Store and the free upgrade to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, if you choose.
Another thing you need to do is to upgrade the amount of system RAM in your Mac.
Currently, your Mac only has 2 GBs of RAM installed. This a bare minimum, paltry amount of RAM for running the newer versions of OS X.
Newer versions of OS X really need a real working, mimimum RAM amount of 4 GBs.
Your Mac model can take a total of 6 GBs of RAM.
I advise installing the complete total 6 GBs of RAM.
Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).
OWC ( macsales.com) has the 6 GB RAM module kit.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/5300DDR2S6GP/
If you are not from the U.S., OWC (macsales.com), I believe, has international shipping of their products.

  • What version is compatible for the Mac Powerbook 4G OS system 10.5.8 ?

I would like to have Firefox for my everyday use and the free download states that the current version is not compatible with this Mac Powerbook 4G OS 10.5.8. Is there an older version I could download at your website?

As of Firefox 4.0 and newer one needs both OSX 10.5+ and '''Intel''' hardware.
Firefox 3.6.* from Mozilla is the last to work on PPC. http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html (Firefox 3.6.25 was released recently).
Since you have a PPC there is a third-party option for Firefox 9.0 at http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ however do note http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/wiki/PluginsNoLongerSupported if you use this build.

  • Can I retrieve bookmarks from an older Firefox version to insert them into the current version? I was running Mac OS 10.4?(Tiger) but upgraded to 10.6.8; then I loaded Firefox 9.0.1 & discovered that I'd lost my bookmarks.Help please.

The OS upgrade was done by a technician so no issues there. I uploaded the current Firefox without saving my old bookmarks. I remember now that previous FF upgrades progressed without bookmark problems. Is the current problem to do with the new OS? Not certain of the correct OS number but it was Tiger; also not certain of the correct FF number but it was the most appropriate one for Tiger. Again, please help.
    Thanks very much.

Not unless they were saved somewhere on your computer. You can check the Time Machine if that storage has been used and wasn't reset as well.

  • Mac OS X Server 4.1, Xcode 6.3.1 "This version of Xcode cannot be used with this server"

    I'm utterly confused.
The documentation for Mac OS X Server (from https://help.apple.com/serverapp/mac/4.0/#/apdA154F061-7CE4-4A58-843D-DC2CE3A1AE 8C ) shows that Xcode 6 or later (my emphasis). I have installed Mac OS X 10.10.3, Mac OS X Server 4.1, Xcode 6.3.1. I have no apps in the App Store's "Update" tab that need to be updated (just now double-checked). I clicked to the Xcode tab under "Services" in OS X Server, clicked the "Choose Xcode…" button, selected the version of Xcode from the Applications folder on the root HDD, and got the error message "This version of Xcode cannot be used with OS X Server."
    So .... now what?

Well, for some reason it just started working.  I was busy trying to fix another issue when I noticed that the Xcode service was running.  I would still like to know what happened in case I have a similar problem with the next OS/Server upgrade, but for now it's at least running.

  • What is the latest version of XCode I can run?

    Hi all,
first off I apologize if this is the wrong section, I am new here. I just got a mac running OSX v10.6.2 and I was wondering what is the latest version of xCode I can run with 10.6.2? I looked on Wikipedia and I was a bit confused. It says versions 3.2,4.0,4.1 and 4.2  Of these, are they all free? I have not paid the $99 but I signed up as a developer. My guess is 4.2 will work but will I have to pay for it? I use xCode at school all the time and need it at home just to work on apps as I cannot be in the school lab all day. Appreciate any help, thanks.

Xcode 4.2 is the latest version that runs on Snow Leopard, but you have to be a member of one of Apple's paid developer programs to download it.
Xcode 3.2.6 is the latest free version that runs on Snow Leopard. You may have to upgrade your OS to 10.6.8 to install Xcode 3.2.6. Xcode 3.2 is also on your Snow Leopard install disc, but you will have to download Xcode if you want to do iOS development.

If you want to add a new user-agent into User Agent Switcher, you go into preferences > New. Most of the blanks are filled in already, so just change the Mozilla revision number that will be at the end of the User Agent line. To fake 3.5.19, just change rv:1.9.2.19 to rv:1.9.1.19. For the description, put in "Firefox 3.5.19".
