i can't find any info on my question in the help section or the getting started page.are LSO's cookies and if i cancel them is it not harder or slower getting back to the page? what is the definition of LSO.

My bookmarks disappear when I close Firefox. I can get them back by reloading them from a backup file but they disappear again when I restart Firefox. I've tried the "taskmanager, Process, Firefox.exe, stop process, and it doesn't work.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Firefox doesn't ask if I want to save sites when I close it and allways comes up the same three unwanted sites when I open it again.

It used to re-boot with the tabs and sites I had asked it to save when I closed down last. Now when I close it doesn't ask if I want to 'save tabs'. And it re-boots with the same three sites which I must have saved once months ago, without asking. I've tried deleting the unwanted sites from 'history' but it still somehow finds them. Not a big deal, but irritating, so if someone can help, I'd like to be able to fix it - Robinmarriage

I couldn't find a way to resolve the problem through firefox. The saving or not saving passwords with or without asking was ridiculous. However, I did find a solution, a firefox add on called Last Pass. I've been using it now for a couple of weeks and love it. I only have to enter the main password for my Last Pass acct and from there any site I go to Last Pass captures my info, then asks if I want it saved. Give it a try it's really easy and does what it is supposed to do. It even gave me the option of disconnecting firefox's not so reliable password mgr.

My homepage will load about 30% and then i'm dead in the water. when i close firefox it appears to close but when i try to reopen it tells me that it's already running. started with beta 6 i deleated and loaded ver 5 no change

when i start firefox, everything starts normal then my homepage (igoogle) starts to load, gets to about 30% and stops. from there i can click on links or bookmark and a new tab will open but no page will load. i can't get anywhere. then when i close firefox it appears to close normally but when i try to reopen firefox i get a message that firefox is still running but not responding and the only way to shut it down is to reboot. when it first occured i was running beta 6 (since it became available, i also used beta 4 & beta 5) i then uninstalled beta 6 and downloaded and installed ver 5 same problem. i then did a system restore to a time before the problem.. no luck. i'm not sure what to try next. I'm in exactly the same boat - dead at blue screen, only option is to salvage using target mode.
I don't currently have access to another Mac to do target mode. I was planning to buy a new Mac this fall anyway, though. 2 questions in preparation for that purchase:
1) Is there anything I can do before buying a new Mac to make the salvage process more successful? ie, should I spend the time and money going to the genius bar to have them help me get from totally crippled to partially crippled? (As for expertise, I'm a proficient consumer-grade user, but Apple Support walked me through the safe-boot process, etc.)
2) Is Apple going to provide 10.5 once it is released to people who buy a new Mac in these 6 weeks pre-release?

When I create app tabs they appear as they should. When I close firefox and open it it fresh all the app tabs are gone. How can I pin them sothey do not disappear when I close firefox?

Why does Firefox try to launch Adobe and/or Quicktime when I close Firefox? What is it loading into those programs?

When I shut down Firefox, it tries to start Either Adobe Reader, Quicktime, or both. It has done this ever since the first time I installed an used version 4. The applications do not actually launch, as in a window opening, but they are then present as a process in the system, and I have to close them from the Task Manager. It usually launches just one, but, if it's trying to launch one, and I use Task Manager to close it, it then launches the other. If I hurry and stop that one, Firefox reports that it messed up, and wants me to keep using the Internet for its own purposes that have nothing to do with what I was using the Internet for. This never happened under previous versions of Firefox. Do I need to revert to a previous version? I'm running Kaspersky Internet Security, and it shows I have no malware or the like on my computer, which could cause this. So, why is Firefox trying to do things I did not ask it to, and then expecting me to let it phone home to tell about it when I stop it. By the way, out of good practice, I often close down my Internet connection before closing Firefox, (in case I do get something like a Key Logger loaded, to prevent it from sending its final report before the cache is cleared), but this also happens when I have not yet closed my Internet connection before closing Firefox, so I do not think that is the issue, nor should it be. Your question below about when it happens does not provide for the answer "Every time Firefox Closes", so I picked the closest such answer.

When I close Firefox and re-open it, all previously cached images are NOT loaded from cache. Why?

I have a website. Google recommended page-speed and I had previously installed fire-bug. I open Firefox and inspect my website - the home page loads in approx 2 seconds. I may follow a variety of links and all images ( expiry life of 3 months ), css and js files ( expiry life 1 hour ) are cached so that each screen loaded takes less time. If I close firefox get on with other work and then re-open it, its like the images were never cached - what's the point of caching if its ignored?

I want to add a message when I close firefox reminding me not to forget my memory stick

I'm using the latest version of firefox portable on a USB memory stick. It is a fresh install today. I work in different places and I'm worried about leaving my memory stick behind. I was hoping there was some way of adding a notification when I close firefox reminding me to remove my memory stick. I have searched the add on site and forums but cannot find an answer.
Is there an add on that might help?

For Windows computers, write a batch file. The first line would start Firefox.
The rest of the batch should be your reminder. Add a '''Pause''' command
at the end of the batch, or the message will just flash and disappear.

when i open firefox, i get asked what program i want to use to open this file. i select firefox to open firefox, and it opens to - Index of file:///C:/Documents and Settings/HP_Administrator/- instead of my home page. this has been going on for months. today i updated my kaspersky intrnet security 2011 and since then fire fox will only open in firefox safe, even if i shut down kaspersky. IE opens with no problems.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
