Make sure that the editor that you use to compose the text is in plain text mode.

Do you have separate apple Ids? If not, set up a new Id for one of you. Ios 6 uses the apple Id to send messages across devices, that may be the issue you are having.

It's not a good idea to allow websites to redirect to another site until you know for sure the original site is trustworthy.
But if you still want to do it (again not a good idea).
Tools>Options>Advanced>General - In Accessibility, uncheck "warn me when web sites try to redirect..." option.

The browser opens random tabs both while I am using and will start on a random tab while I do not have it running.

With the multitude of issues you have I would take it to an Apple store or AASP and have them sort it out. Then I would sign up for Apple camp or one on one.

How do I stop Safari from displaying .rtf and .doc files?

I have placed a number of .rtf and .doc files on my website for downloading. I've notice that my other browsers download the actual file when I type in the exact web address to where they are stored, whereas Safari just displays the text in Safari--there's no physical file download. Welcome to the Discussions.
I had a similar problem with Safari opening .pdf files. It went away when I went into the following folder: Your Home Folder/Library/Internet Plug-ins, and dragged out any files that looked as if they might make a difference, just one at a time, onto the Desktop. (N.B. I did not Trash them; and if removal made no difference, I replaced the file into the Plug-ins folder.) You will have to restart Safari on each occasion; and on a couple of occasions I found that re-setting Safari (Safari Menu) was necessary to give the application a start-from-scratch with each download attempt.
That's a somewhat makeshift way of approaching it; but provided you don't trash the plugins, and provided you restore those that make no difference, it can't do any harm -- within my experience anyway.

How do you stop tabs from displaying "Connecting..." forever and even after the pages have loaded?

Even after all of my pages have loaded, the tabs continue to say "Connecting..." I don't have any kind of add-on/plugin like tabrenamer are anything that should be affecting the titles of my tabs. This can be an inconvenience when working with several pages at a time. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Some pages are using scripts like GoogleAPIs ,YahooAPIs, GoogleAnalytics, webTools pages and etc. sometimes the requested URL for the script or any web page element (like pictures and icons) are missing or so busy and there is no response from the server. The requests are sent to server using '''UDP '''protocol (means high speed, but '''no accuracy for very busy servers and lost connections'''!). UDP is a high speed protocol and send and receive your requested elements rapidly!
1- You can try clicking in the address bar and pressing enter. this may help you sometimes.
2- Also you can use add-ons like '''NoScript '''for disabling unwanted scripts. You can try installing NoScript and click on "Allow scripts globally". Then, at the pages you mentioned load too long and never stop, try to disable scripts while you find the bad or not respinding script (Scripts)!

When not on Firefox and go to do it, why am I constantly getting: "Firefox is already running but not responding. To open a new window you must close the existing Firefox process, or restart your computer." Moreover, HOW CAN I STOP IT FROM HAPPENNING???

Hello I got update 23 and when it finished and restarts it cks all my add on's and then its ready to finish updating. but this update the cking for good add ons keeps scanning each time i turn on firefox. so the 1st part of the 2 part scans ok but when it scans the 2ed part to ck add ons it does not finish and just goes away so then every time i turn on friefox it keeps doing this instead of laoding my home page firefox keeps opening up and then the firefox home page opens when i have my home page set to open up my yahoo acct. how do i get 23 update to stop scanning my 10 add ons and will then finish installing so my windows 8 laptop will get past this problem?? It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

How do I stop OSX from creating ._ thumbnails of network files

Our macs are networked to Windows servers that hold a large amount of image files. These are updated on a continual basis unfortunately the files can't be saved directly to the server but copied blindly into the folder from our macs. The ._ invisible files on the mac appear in windows, not really a big deal (although I would rather they didn't exist a all) The big problem comes when the folders on the server are opened on the mac, it takes forever for the mac to create the little alias or thumbnail files for each image. How do I stop OSX from doing this.

Havent seen a way to stop the annoying icon thing, but possibly you could reduce it a bit by using the Finder Pref... Open New Windows in Column mode.

This is not something on your end. If they send an iMessage it will arrive as an iMessage, if the send an email it will arrive as an email.
THey are sepearate services that cannot be mixed up.
Tell them to send you an email, rather than an iMessage.
If they are using the messages App it will always arrive as a Message.
