thanks for your time. I really only know how to turn on a computer & use it somewhat had stroke 2 years ago lost some long term memory get bouts of short term loss. Got computer from , unregistered charity in Victoria BC, Canada.. Which supply computers & basic instruction only 2 techs, told reach out to Linux forms as very old monitor big in small bacholar apt works, IBM e74 13 pins on cord going to computer computer has 15 holes as do flatron wide LG & flatron w9345 i have 37" RCA with 15 pin holes & 15 pin cord both ends but don,t want mess up my TV .Any one i know who is computer savvy don't know Linux or want to try I have Zorina Linux & Linux puppy 5.25. Computer has windows xp professional sticker on it. that is about it. Any help u can suggest would rally great if there is a fix. I like the system it is good for me, as it challenges me. Did you reset your iPad like this: Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.

You make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store and get it serviced/replaced. You broke it. If you can't even force a reboot, there's nothing much more you can do.

When I try to close all programs it tells me firefox is still running and I have to close it first but it is not running!

After I have finished working on my computer, I close it all out and shut the monitor off. Lately it will not let me close out saying that firefox is still open and I should close it first. I cannot see anything that indicates firefox is running.

My iPhone is giving me ****. I don't know what is wrong with it besides that it will not charge. I've been scouring the internet for the last few hours and have been trying to figure it out. I've cleaned out the charging area with a toothpick that I discovered on another board, i tried plugging it back in, it acts like it is going to "connect" but it will not charge, I get the little indicator that looks like a plugin but I still do not get any charge, i have tried two different chargers and nothing is working. If it shows up in iTunes and you can sync the phone, could be that the docking port is damaged.

Thanks - let it finish, but zero out data is unnecessary. That option is intended to thoroughly erase previously recorded data so that it cannot be recovered without sophisticated data recovery techniques.
Case sensitive is OK but I suggest you simply select Mac OS X Extended since "case sensitive" may complicate things for you in the future, should it be necessary to restore files to a case-ignorant volume.
Once it finishes, make sure it appears as a selectable option in Time Machine. If it does your problems are solved, but consider using Disk Utility and reformatting it. This time don't worry about zeroing unused space, and select Mac OS X Extended (Journaled). It will only take a few seconds this time.

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

Got it! Thanx. What I did was go to my account, check that they had my new ID and Password which they did, then hit reset button. All fixed.

I've got a similar problem. iTunes v10.2 worked fine, but when I tried to update it to 10.5 I got a 'Bonjour' error. I eventually solved that but I still couldn't upgrade to 10.5, so I deleted every single Apple, Quicktime, iTunes, etc file on my PC using Revo Unistaller (because the normal Windows Add/Delete programs wouldn't work) but now, when I install the latest iTunes version from scratch (on XP SP3), it says: "the installer encountered errors before it could be configured.... your system has not been modified"
Any ideas?

You don't. You can't control how other computers or browsers play back the footage. The best you can do is export a master file that plays great on your computer. What youTube does with it, or how other computers play it back is out of your hands.
Just like me with broadcast TV shows. I deliver the most pristine version I can to the network. But then they convert it to a digital file that they then beam out to cable and satellite providers, who then compress it again to play on their systems. And then it arrives at grandma's house and plays on her TV. I have no control how my grandma receives the signal, nor how her TV is set up. Unless I am nice and tweak things when I go visit. But I can't do this at every house that might want to watch my show.

Apologies for the slightly pedantic answer, but in application terms, "closed" and "quit" are two different things. An application such as Safari can have several windows open, and each of them can be closed using the red button in the corner.
However, even after all windows are closed, the application is still running until you specifically quit it. You can tell it's still running by the small light under its icon in the Dock. If you hold your cursor down on the icon for a few seconds, you should see a pop up menu with the "Quit" option - click that to quit it. Or, click the icon once (this may launch a new window), then either go to the Safari menu and click Quit, or click cmd-Q, to completely quit the app.
