Addl question: when I DO send an email from the address book, they are all coming back with the msg:
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: & None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient.
But when I type in the exact same address manually, it goes thru just fine.

iCloud email supports 'plus' addressing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Address_tags
So your friend could just add '+research' to the username part of your email address, and you setup a rule at icloud.com to put all emails sent to that address into a particular folder.
For example:
[email protected]
There's no way to do it without rules on the server though.

Since you say you cant see the back up in iTunes you should be able to see it when following the last step where it says for iTunes 10.7 or earlier. Dont worry as this step also works for iTunes 11.

Where do you state that you need to email the files to someone else?

This was my response ....
You can't edit any of these files without a compatible iPad app like Documents to Go (Excel, Word) or Pages (Word files).
You can open and view the files as mail attachments but you will not be able to edit them. Explain exactly what you are doing and maybe you can get meaningful instructions.
Basically I said the same thing as Julian and I thought that maybe if you explained EXACTLY what you were trying to do, it would be helpful.

I have Firefox set to check for updates but do not install, just notify. WHen I start Yahoo email, F automatically downloads and updates anyway.

I have FF set to check for but do not install updates. When I start yahoo email, FF automatically instals updates. I am only user/administartor. How do I make this stop? It is messing up other programs - destroyed my Norton security.

Usually, the "notify" setting works fine. I don't know whether having Yahoo as the home page makes a difference. ??

If you already have the latest version of Desktop Software, can you verify if you are running a Click to Run installation of Outlook? You can check this in Outlook -> Help -> About Microsoft Outlook. This has to do with the Time Zone Support selected in your phone. If you check in Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars, there is a setting for Time Zone Support at the bottom of the page under Calendars. If that is turned to off, the calendar should support the local time. Because time is set to Automatic (since you say the time is correct on the iPhone), it is reflecting the local time. That information comes from the carrier, not the iPhone itself. You can check, however the iPhone says that if you turn off the Time Zone support, it should reflect in the local time. Do a test, if possible, and see if that will do what you are asking.

If the shows are in fact still on the pad, they will be found in the videos app, not the music or I tunes app. Look there and see if they are still there.
If you don't see them there, go to the searchlight screen ( farthest left home page) and type in the name of one of the shows. If it is on the pad, hiding somewhere, this will find it.
If they are not there, they should not be using up space.
To get them back onto your pad, plug in and sync again. Make sure you transfer purchases first. Before you sync, take a look at the video tab in your I tunes, and check what you want and don't want synced.

What type of account did you set-up on the iPad, POP, IMAP, the items on your iPad could have downloaded off the server or you will need wait awhile for the message to update to the iPad.

Did you choose the wrong back up? There should be a drop box when you go to "Restore from Back up" in iTunes and your iPhone is plugged in, on the Summary page. Choose the correct back up. If you can't find one, and you still have your device, back up your iPhone 4 again and then choose that back up. Or check for an old iCloud back up if you have one.

and in the accompanying documents linked from that page. Syncing your iPad with iTunes copies items, it doesn't move them. The only way apps would be actually removed from your iPad during syncing is if you had iTunes set to remove them on syncing, so check the appropriate settings in iTunes, set the book to sync as well, and then sync the iPad again.

No such thing has occurred. iPhones do not backup to one another.
It is not possible to backup a different iPhone from the one being updated.
If the iPhone was restored with a backup from a different device, restore it again from the correct backup.

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
You must back up all data before continuing, unless you've already done so. If you need to back up but can't log in, ask for instructions.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select
 ▹ Restart
from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
