When I open a new page, Firefox won't let me close it without closing altogether the website I am exploring. This has happened since the "update" and happened on multiple website. What happened to "close tab?"

I used to be able to click "File" and "close tab" to close a page without closing a website. For a few weeks after the last Firefox update, I had to hit "exit" and that worked the same, but now it closes everything. Very irritating and time-consuming.
How do I close just the one page/pdf/document that I am looking at without closing out the website or my browser altogether?

Every time ,since the beginning of summer this year, when I open up Pages it doesn't allow me to type a single word. I keep clicking on the screen to get the blinking line to pop up, but it doesn't. Welcome to the forum.
You have opened a Layout mode template, which requires you to first create a textbox to type into.
Open a *Word Processing* template instead. They are labeled on the left side of the chooser.

Cursor automatically moves to the address bar when I open a new page

Ever since I installed Firefox 4, when I open a new tab the typing cursor automatically moves to the address bar instead of the search engine bar. I have the tab mix plus addon. A solution appears to have been found for the same problem with the newtabhomepage addon, but since the two are not compatible with each other, I don't want to switch addons. Is there any way I can fix this?

If your using the 'New Tab Homepage' extension then this happens when you upgrade to Firefox.
Open up Firefox and click on Ctrl+Shift+A to bring up the add on/extensions menu. Have a look in the Extensions bit for an Extension that has a version no of 0.4.3. if you have it then it needs uninstalling. Then download the new file from the mediafire link

You will then be asked if you sure you want to install it and drag it on to the extensions page in Firefox.
Once installed restart Firefox. Once restarted your homepage will load whenever you start a new tab.

How do I change from AVG Secure Seach to Goggle as the default search enging bor the the search bar and when I open a new page?

When I load Firefox, the default search engine goes to AVG Search. I'd like to change it so that the default search engine on the search bar is Google. In addition, when I one a new page, the new page home page defaults to AVG Search. I'd like opening a new page to default to Google. My initial home page goes to the Wall Street Journal, which I want to keep, but want to change for the search bar and when a new page is opened to Google.

In Indesign I would like to be able to have the tools and the controls open automatically when I open a new page or document. Now I have to select them in the windows drop down.

When I opened a new page it used to open to bookmark icons but has stopped doing this, how can I get it to do it again?

As above, I would open a new window, other than the one I was working in, and it would open showing some of my most used bookmarks, but it suddenly stopped doing this. It was a very useful add on or whatever it was, and I would like to get it back. My wife's computer does it, but I don;t know how.

In order to be able to find the correct solution to your problem, we require some more non-personal information from you. Please do the following:

Is it a case of runaway blank tabs? One possible cause is if Firefox wants to download something but you instruct Firefox to handle it itself. This article describes how to clear that up: [[Firefox repeatedly opens empty tabs or windows after you click on a link]].
If they are not blank tabs, do they look like some kind of advertising? You might have a bad add-on. These can slip into your computer as part of a bundle with other software, so I suggest starting here:
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
Next, in Firefox, open the '''Add-ons page''' using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

When I open a new page in the bg with middleclick, sometimes the new page is blank

This only seems to happen sometimes.
When it happens, if I attempt to view the source I succeed.
So, I can see the source of the page, but not the page itself.

Note: I'm the RequestPolicy developer.
Please check if disabling RequestPolicy (or setting "temporarily allow all requests") solves this problem for you. If it does, please try to provide me a repeatable example so I can test/debug/resolve this. For example, if there is a specific page and a specific link on that page which always has this problem, that's a good example.
You can also open the Request Log from the RequestPolicy menu, leave the log open, then open a link which fails. If RequestPolicy is causing this problem, then most likely you will see a blocked request in the log when you middle-click the link.

HT1677 Safari keeps crashing when I open a new page

Safari crashes each time I attempt to open an additional page also I can't 'X' out of an open page

Clear Safari, close Safari and reboot your iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the Safari app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

You have started a Page Layout document instead of a Word Processing document. Open the template chooser and look in the left column. There you will see the two types of documents.

New adobe flash won't let me watch video without allowing tracking what do i do?

Anyone have any fixes for abode flash player invading viewing on many streaming video sites? It seems the latest version won't allowing viewing on most sites without allowing them to track me. I realize it may be the site doing this but it didn't start happening until I downloaded the most recent adobe version this morning.

What do you mean by "allowing tracking" -- is the problem that you can't disable local storage objects (LSOs, also sometimes called supercookies)??
By the way, you probably should remove the extension "Updated Ad Blocker for Firefox 11+" because Adblock Plus is now much more up-to-date and having them both do overlapping things will make blocked content problems much harder to sort out.

Sometimes whe i open a new page Firefox shows me strange small squares with noise like a TV. When a move the scrobar they disappear.

When I open a new page in Firefox, it goes through all current open pages, so that on closing the new page, it doesn't go back to to the one I opened the new page from, but to the last one I opened.
