Why does Fiefox require me to click allow when opening a new page?

When I try to open a new page, Firefox requires that I click the "allow" button below the toolbar in order to proceed. This is new (within the last few weeks).

Safari--open in new page--pop under?

Is there a Safari preference setting that causes new pages to load under the one currently being read instead of on top? I like the sort-of tabbed browsing, but most often, I want to read the linked page only after I've finished the page I started with. As it is now, I see something I want to look at later, click open in new page and am automatically zipped over to it, so I have to switch back to the original page, then wait for it to reload. What sane person uses the Internet the way it does now?!?
Should I submit it as a bug if there is no way to fix this?

It's not a bug. It's how Mobile Safari works on the iPhone, iPod and iPad. I've gotten used to it, and I'm quite sane! It was annoying at first, now I don't even think about it. Remember, there's limited real estate on the iPad to implement everything we would want. It is supposed to be a stripped down version of a full powered browser, to make it load faster with less bandwidth, to make it visible on the screen, etc. I think it's a good compromise.

Cannot open favourites using the Firefox tag that usually opens up the menu and a new page.. Now I get the dropdown menu but cannot open a new page, losing the homepage every time I explore, can you say WHY? all other versions worked fine!

Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
* Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode.

75% of the time this happens, 25% of the time it works as it should.

Do you mean that it is opening links in a new window? If you would rather have a new tab instead, you can set that in Options > Tabs. Some links are set up so that they will open in a new tab or window. I know of no way to make those open in the same tab, short of changing the code on the page.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

I need to stop a setting that prevents firefox from opening a new page while at a web site or browsing, and can't figure out which setting or add on is causing the problem.

When I click on the link mentioned (not every time) Firefox opens a new page (not a tab) that is blank from http://analics.google.come. When I view source it is a frameset with Display the only item.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox 3.6 that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:

How do I change from AVG Secure Seach to Goggle as the default search enging bor the the search bar and when I open a new page?

When I load Firefox, the default search engine goes to AVG Search. I'd like to change it so that the default search engine on the search bar is Google. In addition, when I one a new page, the new page home page defaults to AVG Search. I'd like opening a new page to default to Google. An unwanted bookmark window appears every time I open a new page

When I open a new page I very frequently get a window full of bookmark folders on the left of the screen. It takes up space and I have to close it over and over and over. I can't find a preference that will make it go away forever.

I upgraded to Firefox/3.6.3 on April 7, 2010. I am running OSX 5.8 on a G5 PowerPac Mac. This problem happens when I click on a link that opens a new window on my Mac. The new window then automatically opens with the history left bar open. It is not occurring when I simply open a new window myself.

Firefox has started opening new windows that show redirect. This happens most often when I move the curser. The problem is intermittent as it seems to stop when you close all the windows at times. Then when you go to a new page it starts opening new windows again.

If this affects a lot of sites randomly, there's a good chance it is caused by an add-on. Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or if obviously bad, remove).
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that shut down the extra windows?
Also recommended:
(1) Visit the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Click the "Installed on" column heading to group by date. Then look for any recent unrecognized programs that may have snuck in as part of a bundle. Remove everything you do not know to be useful and trustworthy.
