When i open att.yahoo all i get is a list of topics, none of which leads me anywhere. there is no content, i need to access my att e-mail and cannot.

i have emptied cache, restarted, re-installed, and tried typing att.net direct e-mail, but firefox reverts to att.yahoo and i get the list of topics.

Please update to Firefox 24 [[Update Firefox to the latest version]]

uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
... the as suggested reinstalled the latest version of the firefox browser using the link you provided in the email ..; tested and several issues still remain present and unresolved ....
so please this is urgent or I will have to jump browsers and start using chrome .. because we work 14 hours a day 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, to get ready for the launch of our newest venture and we cannot lose that much days on browser related issues ... so please instead of putting me through week long step process .. of do this .. do that .. can you please actually look into the issue from your end .. A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.

Is this a wifi-only iPad? If so, and unless it is plugged in, when you sleep the device, it shuts off the wifi radio to save battery power. When you wake up the device, the wifi radio is re-activated, it connects and gets your notifications. That is perfectly normal and simply a function of the design of the device. The wifi will not shut off if the device is plugged into a power outlet (no need to conserve power then).
A 3G iPad would allow for push notifications, if the 3G connection was left on all the time.
P.S. if you do have a 3G iPad and have 3G enabled all the time, then I do not know why it is not working.

I have tried both ways. Generally I save a current quote to desktop and so open the programme by clicking on the quote thumbnail.

When I open my Yahoo mail account, it comes up with lines between every entry. When I try to send a new message, the dialogue box is incomplete. The tool bar above the message box is empty so I cannot change the font or font size, etc.

This problem does not occur when I open my Yahoo mail account in Internet Explorer.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Disabling Protected Mode should fix the problem. But since you cannot even open Adobe Reader by itself, you need to do it via the Windows registry. If you tell me your installed Reader version, I can give you a registry script to do that.
