Why wont itunes open when I put a dvd in the computer? It opens in windows media player. I want to transfer a dvd to my ipod.

Have you tried to click on "repair" and then try to uninstall the component?

Copying the program over to a new machine will not work. Install it using installation files and activate it using the serial number assigned to the license.

- Try a reset. Nothing is lost:
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
- Connect the iPod to your computer and try to restore via iTunes. Try placing in Recovery mode if necessary to restore.
- If you can't turn the iPod completely off, let the batter fully drain. After charging for at lerast anhour try again
- If still not successful time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Try restoring the backup again. Your apps and other purchased media should have been restored from your backup if they were on your old phone when you backed it up.

When using my iMac the screen turned blue and so I turned the compute off. When I turn on again power does get to the computer but there are no chimes and the screen remains black. Any advise please. David

To start troubleshooting this issue where your iMac's screen will not illuminate, please reset your SMC by following the information outlined below.
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: For Intel-based Xserve computers that are not responding, you can shut down locally, or by using remote commands, or by pressing and holding the power button for five seconds.

You are in Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions below to recover your iPad.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

Last Resort, put the iPhone in DFU mode (Google How to do that). Connect in iTunes. Follow on-screen prompts to Restore. All Data would be lost, if not backed up earlier.
