When I try to go to certain websites a pop up message and ads pop up.

Today I tried going to digg.com but i got a pop up message saying
"If your computer is running slower than normal, it may be infected with Viruses, Adware, Spyware.
XP SecurityCenter will perform a quick and completely FREE scan of your system for malicious software.
Download XP SecurityCenter for FREE now!"
then safari redirected to xpsecuritycenterr.com/XzqKJ4bjGL/ and when I try to close that window another pop up shows up saying
"Your PC is still in danger!
Come back and download spyware removal tool!"
when I finally close that window it automatically downloads a file "xpsecurity.exe"
I did a virus scan and nothing seems to be wrong and I also checked the website on another computer on the same network. I reinstalled safari but nothing seems to be working. PLEASE HELP!
Thanks.

I reinstalled safari but nothing seems to be working.
Don't waste your time deleting and reinstalling Safari; that's not the problem.
What have you downloaded or installed recently, including today before this problem started? It sounds like you have a Trojan Horse, which you can check for and remove by downloading DNSChanger Removal Tool. Assuming it finds it on your system, it will remove it and you must restart your Mac for the job to be completed; then your system should be okay.

  • When I try to got to a website I get a message that says 403-forbidden error

this is what I get when I try to go to a website...
    403 - Forbidden Error
You are not allowed to access this address.
If the error persists, please contact the website webmaster.
If you are the webmaster of this site please log in to Cpanel and check the Error Logs. You will find the exact reason for this error there.
Common reasons for this error are:
    * Incorrect file/directory permissions: Below 644.
In order files to be read by the webserver, their permissions have to be equal or above 644. You can update file permissions with a FTP client or through cPanel's File Manager.
    * Restrictive Apache directives inside .htaccess file.
There are two Apache directives which can cause this error - 'Deny from' and 'Options -Indexes'.
    how can I fix this?

When I've had a similar problem, it was because I was accessing the iTunes store from a device I hadn't used before, such as when I upgraded from an iPad 1 to the iPad 2.  It was a little confusing to me until I figured it out.
All I had to do was use the ID of my existing account and play along with the iTunes store.  As I recall, it asked for my password twice, and the security code from the back of my credit card.  After that, downloads proceeded as before.

  • When I try to get to certain websites Safari takes me to a wholly unrelated site.  I also get a lot of security checks on common sites that seem to show the certificate for facebook when I'm nowhere near facebook.  I'm wondering if I have a virus?

This generally happens when I try to get to my home site on Twitter, and it takes me to Virtue SRM.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

    Example:

  • When I try to reply to certain people I get a red x as if it didn't go through

I have a Blackberry Enterprise Server and we use an Exchange Server, i am the only user that uses a Blackberry, i used to set it up just with pop settings but needed to sync my calendar and phone book so that is why I set up the BES and I have  been noticing since I moved to the BES when I try to reply to certain people I get a red x next to their name as if it didn't go through.
I have 3 email accounts altogether that I get on my Blackberry only one of them goes through the Exchange and it is random which emails I am unable to reply to some are off of the Exchange and some are from my Gmail.
Thank you in advance for any help on this.
    Rhonda

Try removing and inserting the sim card.
Reset your device: Hold the home button and the sleep/wake button together for 10 sec.
Reset all settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
And in last case, restore your device as new on the iTunes.
After all that, if the issue still persist, contact the carrier.

Have tried to uninstall and reinstall.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
