Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):
         com.apple.GeForce(6.4.0)@0x82ac4000->0x82b7afff
            dependency: com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…
Good luck,
Clinton

What version of OS X are you using? Exactly which MBA model do you have?

I have iphone 4s  and I got wifi problem how i can fix it

Tap Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if fixed. If still problem, Restore iPhone with iTunes 10.7 on computer. See if fixed. If still problem and there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

  • The headers of the frameworks disappear when I update to OS Maverick.

I have been working with some Bluetooth low energy applications so I am using IOBluetooth framework. Normally this framework is located in /System/Library/Frameworks and It has a folder call Headers with all the .h files.
I need this folder because I am using this like a shared library in Labview and suddenly when I update my OS, that folder disappeared.
I was looking for other options and I saw that I can found the hold framework inside XCODE app, but It does not work as the normal one.

    I get it now.
There is a difference between frameworks in system locations and those in the SDK. The ones in system locations may not have any headers included. They are only there for the shared library portion. When you include the headers in Xcode, you are able to make a connection to the methods in the SDK version of the library. When the app is installed on a user's machine, all that is required is the dynamic library in the expected location.
You compile and link against the headers in the frameworks for your targeted platform and OS version. You can target anything that is listed in Xcode. But at runtime, you can only run what is in /System.

  • I have a problem when i wished to download mavericks., i have a problem when i wished to download mavericks.

i have a problem when i try to download mavericks from the app store.
it asks me to sign in to [email protected] a gmail address that i have never heard of.
this seem too strange to me!
i have tried to contact apple support but after a total of half an hour waiting they are just too busy
anyone know a way i can download mavericks not from the app store?

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select  Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.

  • Jumpy scrowl control with mouse.Only with Firefox, not Internet explorer. Problem fixed when I updated to 6. 0.2 but problems returned after about a week.. 0.2

Jumpy scroll wheel control with mouse. Only with Firefox, not Internet explorer.Even pushing the scroll wheel and trying to adjust for a smooth easy scroll the text stops and starts. Problem fixed itself when I updated to 6. 0.2 from an older version but the problem returned after about a week.. The problems go away when I go to web site and scroll but is back when I return to my home page (mozilla firefox)

Good post, and glad to hear you had a solid transition. Mine went well too, though I think I beat the rush.
It's worth noting that the vast and overwhelming majority of headaches people were experiencing were related to download and activation servers (as well as credit check servers for some mobile carriers) being crushed and overwhelmed.
To give you an idea of just how crushed, here are some numbers. In the last year, something in the neighborhood of 8 million iPhones have been sold. That's just shy of 22,000 per day. So the typical traffic is around 22,000 times a day, someone is hitting the server for update/activation.
This weekend, Apple sold 1 million iPhones. In other words, 333,333 phones per day. Holy crap!
As if that wasn't enough, there are 8 million of us out there with the first generation iPhone. Not only do we need to download the new firmware, but we have to install it. The installation process requires hitting the activation server again, to validate the phone. Mind you, not everybody upgraded this weekend, but a few million did. For the sake of argument, we'll assume that's 1 million a day. So, instead of the normall traffic of 22K phones a day, those activation servers got SLAMMED with 1.33 million activations per day.
It ***** that some people had delays and hiccups and a hard time and everything, but completely understandable. With luck things will run more smoothly from here on out.

    Thanks!
You are not having the same problem, the OP's problem was caused by USB devices which you do not have.
I suggest you start your own thread (as this is marked solved not many will look at it)

  • When i press shut down my mid2010 mbp restarts, please help!

when i press shut down, my mid 2010 mbp restarts, please help!

OK, that eliminates a sticking power button, which would have been a possibility if you were using that button to bring up the Shut Down option.
Does this problem occur when you're running on battery power, on AC power, or both?
In System Preferences > Energy Saver > Power Adapter tab, do you have "Start up automatically after a power failure" checked? If you do, uncheck it, quit System Prefs, and see whether the problem persists. Post back with results.
Oh, and since you say this also happens when you select "Sleep" — does it happen when you close the display to put the machine to sleep, or only when you select the "Sleep" command from the Apple menu?

  • URGENT : Update OS to Maverick, won´t restart

Recently updated the OS to Maverick.   First thing I noticed is that the new OS does not recognize the RAID (internal disc raid + Apple Raid card).
Then I restarted the computer but it got stuck forever on a light grey screen.   No beachball, no error. no nothing.
This is a 2009 (if I remember well) 4.1 Mac Pro, Dual 2.26 Quad Core Xeon processor, 32GB Ram, Apple Raid card, AJA Kona LHI video card.
I have a vital job in progress on this computer.   It´s both in the RAID as well as a safety copy in the start up disc Macintosh HD.
Please advice on how to get this Mac started.    One thing that comes to my mind is to disconnect the PCI Raid card and try restart, but I guess might mean to loss all the data.
Please advice, need urgent Help !!!!!

Have you tried safe mode boot: just pressing and holding shift key down with starting the machine (powering on), at least from the "chime" sound for a few seconds (when a progress bar start to show you can release the shift key)?
If that won't work, have you tried "single user mode" (Cmd+S) returning a black screen with white text (kinda startup log to show eventual problems)?
Can you start your Mac in "Recovery" mode (Cmd+R) if all above fails?
When all your machinery is switched off, taking out the RAID card should not make you lose any data. However, since the data is on the disks that are connected to the card you might not be able to see the data without the card being plugged in. But since you seem to have a safety copy, you might still access the data?
If you have good reason to suspect the card, taking it out might help to see your mac start again (without the volumes on the RAID disks though). But I would only do so when all above (safe mode, single user mode, recovery mode) fails. On my machines just starting up in safe mode, shutting down and then start the machine helped quite often, fortunately.
How does your Mac start (at all) without the RAID?

  • My iMessage and FaceTime deactivated theirselves when I updated to iOS8.2, why is this and hiw can I fix this

I recently updated my iPhone 5c to iOS 8.2 and when to iMessage someone it wouldnt send & said I needed to turn on iMessage. So I went to my setting and it had been desctivated as well as FaceTime. I trued to turn both of them on and it says "waiting for activation" how to I "activate" or fix this problem?

There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's.  Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content.

  • Updated to OSX Mavericks, getting random restarts

Ever since upgrading to Mavericks, my late 2009 Macbook Pro restarts at least once every session, at random times, no matter what I am doing. Everything was working perfectly on 10.8, so I assume it is an issue my computer has with the new OS.
If anyone can help with this issue it would be appreciated, as I cannot trust my laptopto do work on when it restarts at any time.

  • When I turned my Ipod off, I got infinite loading; how do I fix this?

I have an Ipod touch, not jailbreaked or any of that crap. Anyways, I was updating an app and I held down the power button to turn it off. I then waited and waited and waited. I keep on getting a spiral that constantly swirls. All the buttons don't work, so how can I get back on my Ipod Touch?

    - Have you tried resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
-Next would be to restore the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
