I just pre-ordered one from Amazon since they don't charge tax or shipping, but I was wondering when will Apple be shipping the Mac Mini's to retailers. If anyone knows, please tell me. And this is my first Mac, so I'm kind of excited about it.

The new 2011 Mac Mini with Lion is in the online Apple store from yesterday July 20th.

NVIDA OpenGL feature for the new Macs availability

I want to get a Mac with NVIDIA for the OpenGL feature, but the new ones are GT 640, 650, GTX 660, and 675 and none are on the list of NVIDIAs for Apple. I realize the list isn't up to date and was wondering if they'll be added anytime soon if not already. Thanks

You can always hack the raytracer_supported_cards.txt file - on your own head, of course. Beyond that I wouldn't let my buying decision be driven by a half-baked feature like the Raytrace 3D. Seriously. That stuff is gonna change again in CS7 no doubt (hopefully for the better) and locking yourself into a specific hardware just to be compatible now may then prove disadvantageous (though arguably those nVidia cards will still somehow be put to use then). Honest, straight up answer: Buy whatever you need, learn a serious program on the side and/or invest some money in some 3D-ish plug-ins should the raytrace stuff not work on your hardware or you generalyl end up frustrated because it's so limited.

It is widely known that the IOS6 software is available for most Iphones from today, but for some reason this does not seem to be the case, why is this? and when is the new software available?

September 19th, Today, is widely communicated as being the day that the IOS6 Software for the Iphone 4s will be available to replace IOS5.1.1 BUT, I have been trying to update it all day and it still currently says the software is up to date on IOS5.1.1 ? what is going on, is it out today? if not when will it be available?
is anyone else having this issue?

Honestly, I have not even bothered to try to get it yet. I'll do it this coming weekend, when I can do it at my liesure (my iPhone is also my only phone, so I never leap into any update immediately - I like to let the dust settle a bit and see just how it goes - let others be my beta-testers, as it were).

What is the best storage solution for the new Mac Pro

Hi All,
With limited funds when purchasing the new Mac Pro, I'm starting to look at storage for music/pictures/video etc - I'm thinking of storing this data externally and connecting via Thunderbolt or Firewire or USB3 to access the data... Not sure what type of storage to use, upgrading to 1TB PCIe-based flash seems excessive for costs and I would like at least 2TB, anyone have any suggestions?
What are the alternatives for storage... (single disk Raid) I've recently had to replace my internal WD hard drive (lost everything) and the backup time capsule failed, again knackered disk (looks like WD format error with Maverick OS bug), don't want to format them just incase..
With the new Mac Pro coming with 256GB PCIe-based flash storage, I'm reluctant to upgrade the storage because of costs and would like some redudancy when it comes to storage.
Any suggestions?

Helios enclosure (the new dual-slot Helios PCIe chassis) and moving various hard drives into Thunderbolt cases (in time) but mainly into my favorite USB3 hard drive enclosure.
For those without eSATA enclosures, a simple eSATA to USB3 adapter might do the trick.
USB3 is plenty fast to house two hard drives.
If you can, I'd try to order with 500GB to get started and have more room for system and default for scratch or even for Aperture/iPhoto or Lightroom.
Always take the precaution and zero a drive before use. Want a solid enterprise ideal for RAID, then look no further than Seagate Constellation series. 128MB cache doesn't hurt and fine for RAID5, NAS or whatever you want.
There should be retail PCIe-SSD products in 2014.

When will the commercial version available??

Does anyone know when will the new FMS available for Stratus? For my company deployment, we really want to use this tech but scared to always rely on the Adobe beta testing server.

Next FMS release the one with p2p/stratus functionality is not even in
public beta so it's like a wait for more then few months.
But i think the stratus/p2p can now be used from adobe live cycle (ALCCS) as
it's commercially available now.

That's why I started this discussion to find out why this app didn't reach the appstore yet. I know it does a lot of waht Siri does but it's not fully integrated to iOS/hardware like Siri so, that's why I don't understand why Apple is taking so long to approve it nor to disclose why they are not approving.
I didn't find any info about google app not being within the guidelines of Apples terms and conditions too...
and in regards to the maps, that's a good point but it could use maps.google.com like it currently does so I don't think it should be a big deal right?

This sounds different than with my IOS devices, since I am able to see the photos even with a connection to the Internet.
Do you mean without a connection to the internet? With a connection it's logical you would be able to see the PS.

This tells me that the image files are not on the HD unless the subscriber chooses to download them.

Just used migration assistant from one mac to another one. When I restart the new mac, the old user boots up instead of my new user. Have to log out then log in.

Thanks for your help. But the PowerBook has a Migration Assistant designed for the purpose of transfering files from the old Mac to the new Mac. The steps take me to the point where I'm instructed to restart the old Mac while holding down the "T" key. But nothing happens when I do that. It just restarts and the Migration Assistant on the new Mac still reads "waiting for old Mac to restart".
There has to be a way to do this. I can't install the original applications on the PowerBook from scratch because they were meant to run on Classic. The PowerBook doesn't recognize any of the old Classic installation disks I have from previous Macs (Oddly, the PowerBook has capability to run Classic, but not the actual software-- and no Classic installation disk was provided, unlike the software provided for iBooks. And I can't install any of the System X upgrades because they need to recognize the original application already on the computer in order to upgrade.
I just calculated that if I have to rebuy all the applications I need, I couldn't afford to do it (unless someone can-- or even wants to-- take the old versions off my hands to offset the cost of buying new ones).
There must thousands of graphic designers like me who run a small business and can't afford to re-stock their entire software collection every time they upgrade to a new computer. Why would Apple diss the very people who have been supporting the company (actually keeping it alive) all these years? I don't think they would do that. I'll just have to keep looking for a solution.

I just downloaded the new Mac OS X v10.7 Lion, and now when I go on the Mac Store to download a game (N.O.V.A 2) it goes straight to the Launch Pad, as it's supposed to, but the game it's self wont download, it just keeps saying "waiting" I never had this problem before, any ideas?

I'm connected through my Sky Wifi, it's extremely quick, and I don't have any problems with it. Yes it asked me for my Account Email, and password as normal, then it did that little annimation where it flys into the Launch Pad, then it's saying "waiting" where it should be saying downloading.

There are a number of "rumor" websites for Mac. I won't name them because I don't deal in "rumors".
That said, why are you asking the question? Do you absolutely need a new iMac right now? Is your current iMac or other computer failing or not meeting your current and future needs to such an extent that your work is suffering? If the answer is yes, then buy it right now. If you purchase specs that fit your current needs and needs you project for the future, you'll probably be OK. However, if you just must have the absolute newest version of the iMac, you'll have to wait until it's announced.
