When is Verizon getting MSG channels in HD???

When I signed up for Verizon FIOS TV in August of 2008 I was told that Verizon was in a court battle regarding MSG HD channels and they were expected to clear things up by January of 2009 and add MSG HD channels to our basic package. Now, as we close in on January 2010 I am still without MSG HD. I am an avid Rangers and Knicks fan and watching them on MSG without HD is brutal. I signed on based on the promise that Verizon would be getting MSG HD soon. What is going on with this situation???? Will Verizon ever get MSG in HD??????

A glimmer of hope for NY sports fans...well, maybe-

The good news is that the FCC is finally addressing this. The so-so news is that they are only addressing the discrimination part of the loophole, so companies like Cablevision cannot pick and choose who to distribute the channel to. The bad news is that once this thing goes through, Verizon has to make a case for discrimination to the commission. That won't be hard to do, but you can bet that the new "spun off" MSG will use every appeal and all legal means possible to not sell the HD channel to Verizon. Once the media bureau rules, MSG will appeal to the full commission, and the item will sit on circulation for months or years. Once the commission rules, MSG will try to appeal to the courts.
Just to give a timeline for a similar case, MASN has been in a programming dispute with Time Warner Cable since May 2007. (Verizon - MSG case would not have the arbitration part)
May 07- MASN files for arbitration because of TW denial of carriage in North Carolina, pursuant to "Adelphia Order"
Jan 08- case goes to arbitration, arbitrator rules in favor of MASN
Feb 08- TW appeals and a new arbitrator is selected
July 08- Second arbitrator rules in favor of MASN, TW files instant appeal
October 08- FCC Media Bureau rules in favor on MASN, denying all TW motions
Nov 08- TW appeals to full commission
Jan 09- item is placed on circulation, and has been rotting there ever since with no end in sight

  • When will Verizon get competitive with Comcast

I live in the central Virginia area.  I have friends with Comcast that now get Picture-in-Picture (PiP) with their DVR.  They don't have to do anything special except push the PiP button on the remote.  No special wiring, no splitting the cable, etc. When is Verizon going to offer the same service???????

FiOS HD DVRs have dual live buffers so adding PIP would simply be a matter of writing the software (software is far easier to deploy than new hardware).
I don't know one way other the other whether it is possible or not with Motorola DVRs, but a post in this thread by KenAF says not, and I have found him to be very knowledgeable:

KenAF is always saying that the Motorolla hardware won't support this, that or the other (16:9 guide, external hard drives, PIP, etc...) due to a lack of adequate memory. His argument usually is essentially that no one else is doing it with this equipment so FiOS can't either. I don't believe that for a minute. Software solves a lot of problems and there are always smarter ways to get it done.
The hardware seems fine to me. With the right development effort, I'm sure that Verizon could make PIP work.

  • When will Verizon get the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini?

It appears at least one LTE/CDMA cellular provider already has this phone. When will Verizon follow?

It's the same answer as it was five months ago. When will Verizon Wireless have the Samsung Galaxy s5 Mini available for sale?

  • When is Verizon getting a replacement for the Casio Commando?!?!

I have had my Commando for over 2 years now and love all the features and the ruggedness of it!!  I have MANY stories of how tough this phone is, but now it is having software issue and resets 3 or more times a day and I can't take it anymore!!!!  I know there is a replacement that the FCC has released a while ago called the Commando c811 according to the Verizon manual that is on the FCC website!  So my question is, What is taking Veizon SOOOO long to release it to us?!?!?!  I don't want any answers from Verizon support that tells me to sign up for the "latest news" from Verizon, because I've been signed up since last year and have only received one email from them!!!!!  Or that they still have 2000+ of the old Commando phones to get rid of!!!  Maybe they should have thought about the fact of having a pretty indestructible phone and not needed it to be replaced all the time!!   I want a REAL answer and so do many other Commando users!!!!!!!!!  My contract is up so maybe its time to move on after 10 years!

Yeah same old answer I've gotten from Verizon!  Guess I and many others going to look into other services since Verizon is dragging their feet on this!  Casio and the FCC say the phone has been ready for a while now, so what is taking Verizon soooo long to give a REAL answer?!?!?!  NOT watch our website or sign up for emails on new products!  I need a rugged smart phone and I am not buying another 3G one!!!!  By the time they do release the Commando c811 on the FCC website it will be obsolete   Here's the FCC's website with the info: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=240582&fcc_id=TYK-JDS9507
It has the complete Verizon manual available and everything, so what is the hold up?!?!?!
    Not a happy Verizon customer!!!!!

  • Why do I keep getting authentication errors when trying to get the channels?

HI! The only tv channel I've been able to get is HBOgo.... But there are more channels that use my cable provider, and none of them are authenticating.

    Hello Clkeck,
The article linked below details how to go about contacting the providers involved with the channels available on your Apple TV.

  • When will Verizon get the Passport? Possible timeline?

Who do we need to be talking to have Verizon carry the Blackberry Passport?

Like Jay.M. said, it doesn't look like we're getting the Passport. Chen said it was an AT&T exclusive in the U.S. but he didn't say if that was forever. On the off chance that the exclusive is only for a period of time, I would suppose 6 months after it's released on AT&T we could see it on Verizon. But that's a big and shaky "IF". Right now it doesn't look like they're planning to make a CDMA version of the Passport at all. Nothing has going to the FCC in CDMA, and anyway it hasn't even been released by AT&T. Looks like we Verizon users will get the BlackBerry Classic instead of Passport.

  • Global Roaming, when will Verizon step up for their customers!!!!

Is there any one that works at Verizon that knows anything at all about the Galaxy S3? Customers have been asking to enjoy the same benefits as other users of the Galaxy S3 on other carriers. When will Verizon get with the program? Someone from Verizon come forward and give us some straight answers on this device such as why they chose to lock the bootloader down, why not make it a Global Ready device from the start. Unfortunately for them it will not be soon enough to keep me as a customer. I am glad that our Company gives us the choice to decide our carrier and I will make the correct choice in October. Thank you Verizon for the memories (painful!). Knowing Verizon the answers will come to these questions as quickly as their updates roll out! Good luck to all that stay with Verizon.

Google your request. VZW has stated many times why the boot loader is locked down

  • I get a message that says relaying disallowed when I send a msg.

I created an act through zoho mail [email protected] and when i send a msg I get relaying disallowed.

Relaying is when you try to send email for one email account through another email provider's SMTP server. Do you have a proper SMTP server defined for the problem email account?
    Tools-Account Settings-Outgoing Server (SMTP)
If your provider wants to see authentication to send mail and you do not have that setup properly you can also get this error. Compare all your outgoing (SMTP) settings with what your provider is looking for.

  • When installing Adobe Captivate I get msg: unable to set-up control panel

When installing Adobe Captivate I get msg: unable to set-up control panel..Does anyone know how to resolve?

    Hi,
It seems that Captivate is not downloaded completely. Only one file is downloaded(i.e. .exe) , .7z file is missing.  You can follow the below instructions to download Captivate 7 via direct links.
In order to download Adobe Captivate 7.0 Windows English, open the link mentioned below and sign in with your Adobe ID and password.
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=captivate
Once you sign In with your Adobe Id and password, you will be redirected to Adobe Captivate 7.0 download page, Do not click on download. Kindly stay on that page and paste the below two links on the Trail Page Address Bar  one by one and save the files on your system at same location:
    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/7/win32/Captivate_7_LS21.7z
    http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/CPTV/7/win32/Captivate_7_LS21.exe
When both the files finish downloading, then run the second file (.exe) which will start extracting the first file (.7z) and will start installing Adobe Captivate 7.0 on your computer.

upgraded both my iphone and mac os and I noticed that when listening to internet radio I only get 1 channel whereas before I was able to receive 2 channels. Any suggestions?

I received my week 16 MBP yesterday morning. It has been perfect thus far. Quite the improvment over my old iBook. I do hear some noises rarely but not enough to make me think there is a problem, I believe they are just the standard purrs and ticks of a high-powered computer. It doesn't run hot. I'd say cool to rather warm if used heavily. I hope I have a problem free experiance. I would hate for this product to tarnish Apple's reputation, that would be unacceptable considering this product is amazing. I will say this; I called Applecare, more out of curiousity than anything else and told them that I had just purchased an MBP and, while mine was fine, I had heard allot of disturbing reports about noise and heat. I asked point blank if Apple was aware of any issues and if they where working to resolve it. The answer I got was surprisingly forward. I was informed that they were "VERY" aware and working to correct the issues. He then told me I was lucky to recieve one of the quiet MBPs. I hope they work it out soon.

  • When will verizon be getting 4G prepaid?

I use to have a verizon monthly subscription. 2 year contract... Bill was like 130 dollars a month, after my contract was up I went pre-paid.. But first I went to boost mobile, because they have 4G phones and verizon does not.
When I realized I could use my iphone 4 with pre-paid I switched back over to verizon, because they have better over all services.
Now the real question here is , when does verizon plan to add 4G to their pre-paid phone services?
All the other companies have it already for their pre-paid. Sprint/ATT/Tmobile.. all the prepaid companies.
I hope these people realize that pre-paid is the way of the future and they are only losing customers by not getting on board like all these other companies.

    Hi,
No plans have been announced for adding 4G to prepaid plans.  Right now, 3G is it.  Personally, I hardly ever use 4G since I use WiFi everywhere I go.  That is how I keep way under my monthly data usage each month.  But, again, to answer your question, no plans for 4G on prepaid plans.  Of course, Verizon doesn't announce new changes until after they start, just keep checking back.
