When roaming (abroad) better to use G-mail via Safari? (less data download?

Hi - if i go abroad (from the UK) with the iPhone - given the charges per megabyte of data - am I better off having emails from my normal ISP mail accounts forwarded to Gmail (or similar) and then use Safari to go to Gmail to check my emails (rather than accessing my 'regular' Mail accounts on the phone) - i am guessing this method means you are downloading a lot less (in my case I receive LOADS of spam i would rather not be paying to download into my iPhone mailbox)

  • Using Yahoo mail via Safari problem after IOS8 download

    After downloading the IOS 8 update on my I5c, I am unable to sign in to my email account on Yahoo mail. I access this account on my phone via Safari. Prior to the download of IOS 8, I had no problem getting into my Yahoo account. Each time I tried to access the account I would get the Yahoo message :In order to use Yahoo mail, turn Private Browsing off.: I believe IOS8 is the problem because I have used my wife's I5c and get easy access to my Yahoo mail account. Has anyone experienced this problem? And what the heck is Private Browsing?

    Yes, what you describe is correct. With the new Yahoo "Mail Plus" a "smart" editable text box is displayed for the message area which the Safari iPad does not support. To use Yahoo mail you have to switch to the "Mail Classic" view. To do this look for the "Options" pull-down menu item on the upper right part of the mail page and select "Mail Classic". This should work for you.

  • When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings Safari Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is my ipad does not a Private Browsing switch

    When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings>Safari>Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is, my ipad does not a Private Browsing switchat this location.

    With iOS 7 on the iPad, you turn Private  Browsing on and off by tapping the URL field.  The screen that  opens up has your bookmarks on it.  In the bottom left corner is a hot button marked 'PRIVATE'.  Tap on the word 'PRIVATE' to turn private browsing on or off.  Yeah, there aren't any instructions anywhere that I can find to do this, and if you follow Yahoo's instructions, they don't work.  This doesn't happen with the previous Apple OS, and you can restore your iPad to the older OS.

  • When I try and send an e-mail via the PDF in print it gives a warning

    When I try and send an e-mail via the PDF in print it gives a warning saying :
    “” does not appear to be a valid e-mail address. Verify the address and try again.
    For whatever reason it is putting a "" in front of the address that I get from the address book.
    There is nothing in my previous recipients and if I copy and paste the info from the e-mail to another e-mail from mail directly the address is fine and it sends without and problems.
    Any ideas or web site I can visit to remove this ?
    Greg

    Quote :  So you start typing in the recipients name and it puts the name in quotes?
    Yes.
    As is normal, I type in a few letters and the auto fills in the name and the name is highlighted in blue as always.
    It does not happen if I send it from the SHARE dropdown.
    However in the SHARE I have to send all the pages.
    I have to use the FILE dropdown and then the PRINT, pick the first page (single) and then go to the MAIL PDF.
    That is the one I am having the issue with.
    Thanks for taking the time to help.

  • Can't sign in yahoo mail via safari after upgraded to iOS6

    After upgraded to iOS6, I was able to sign in yahoo mail via safari only the first time but after that could not.  Every time when I tried to sign in yahoo mail, it returned to sign in page.  I have had the same problem with other upgraded iphones, but not iphone with iOS 5.
    But if I clear history and cookies in the safari setting, I can sign in yahoo mail only once.  Every time when I want to sign in yahoo mail, I have to go to the safari setting and clear history and cookies.  I have no problem with gmail and hotmail.

    this link might help.
    http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/roaming/iphone-travel-tips.jsp
    "You can travel the world with your iPhone
    AT&T knows that the mobile internet on your iPhone is indispensable to you. That's why we want to remind you that international data usage is not covered under your existing U.S. data plan. Any voice or data usage outside the domestic coverage area is considered as an International Roaming charge.
    International roaming and data usage is not covered under your existing data plan.
    With iPhone's many internet-based applications, it's natural for users to use more data on their iPhone than they would using other handsets or PDA devices.
    International data roaming can get expensive quickly.
    For example, opening an email with a 5 megapixel picture in it, or downloading a 3 minute video on YouTube, each takes about 2MB of data. The cost would be almost $40, based on pay-per-use international data rates of $.0195/KB.
    What can you do to minimize your international data charges?
    Turn Data Roaming "OFF": Be sure to download and install the latest version of iPhone software (version 2.0) from iTunes. By default, this setting for international data roaming will be in the "OFF" position.
    To turn data roaming "ON/OFF" tap on: Settings>General>Network>Data Roaming
    Utilize Wi-Fi instead of GPRS/EDGE: Wi-Fi is available in many international airports, hotels and restaurants to browse the web or check email.
    Turn Off Your Phone's "Auto-Check" Function for Email: Data usage from email can accrue quickly. Check email manually using Wi-Fi instead of having email downloaded automatically to your iPhone. This way you can control the flow of data coming to your iPhone.
    To turn off the Auto-Check functionality tap on: Settings>Fetch New Data and select manually
    Consider Purchasing an International Data Package: Purchasing an international data package can significantly reduce the cost of using data abroad. AT&T now offers two discount international data packages.
    $24.99 per month - 20 MB Data Global Plan (20 MB of usage in over 65 countries*. Overage is $.005/KB)
    $59.99 per month - 50 MB Data Global Plan (50 MB of usage in over 65 countries*. Overage is $.005/KB)
    *for a list of countries visit att.com/dataconnectglobal for current information
    Reset the Usage Tracker to Zero: When you arrive overseas access the usage tracker in the general settings menu & select reset statistics. This will enable you to track your estimated data usage.
    Why does iPhone use more data than other devices?
    Full HTML email: All data associated with emails are downloaded to iPhone, including full attachments and associated graphics
    Automatic check for email: Customers who set their device to automatically check for email in 15, 30, or 60 minute intervals are incurring international data charges, even if no email is downloaded.
    Enhanced Internet experience: The Safari browser supports full HTML browsing for a more enhanced experience, which uses significantly more data than a WAP browser on a standard handset or PDA.
    Feature-rich applications: iPhone applications like Google Maps, YouTube, and others, depending on frequency of usage, can use a large amount of data

  • Office 365 OWA, mail via Safari is marked as spam

    Hi,
    HTML email send via the web based Outlook Web App (Office 365) in Safari (7.0.6) is marked as spam and so for bounced by external mailservers. Plain text email via Safari or email send via Firefox or Chrome (HTML or plain text) isn't marked as spam.
    Anyone facing the same issue?

    I have the same issue.
    Mail works perfectly.. NO SPAM issues, EXCEPT when using Safari.
    This is as much an APPLE issue as a Microsoft issue. All other browsers work perfectly.  So, what is Apple doing in Safari
    that causes it to be considered Spam?
    Because of this I'm going to be forced to start using Firefox, which Apple probably doesn't want its users to do.

  • Trying to check mail via Safari Browser

    I am borrowing an iPad (first edition) and I am trying to check my IMAP mail in Safari so I don't have to set up another email account on my friend's iPad. I put the address in Safari ( the same address I use to check my mail in Safari on my MacBookPro) and the address changes from webmail.Domainname/imp/login.php to webmail.Domainname/mimp/login.php and then I get a 404 error. Does anyone know why Safari on the iPad changes the address as I type it? I have emptied the cache, deleted the history and the cookies and it still adds the character that causes the error. I am stumped. Any help would be appreciated.

    mimp is for mobile devices. The website (not Safari) sees you are using a mobile device and sends you there.

  • Problem accessing mail via Safari browser

    How do I access iCloud Mail via my Safari browser on my iPhone? If I go to iCloud.com it just offers me the option to install it on my phone.
    The problem is, I already have it installed on my phone and it works fine EXCEPT at my new job - the wifi is not very good and I can access internet/Facebook etc but every time I try and load email it always says it 'cannot find the server .' I therefore tried to access email via safari browser - my other email provider works fine that waybut iCloud doesn't even give me the option to login, just keeps suggesting I install it.
    Any ideas how I can check iCloud email at work? Can't do it on work computers, site is blocked....and there is no 3G/4G signal.
    Thanks for any advice!

    According to http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2618 you should be able to access it via a browser by going to https://www.icloud.com/#mail

  • When traveling abroad, how to use wifi only?

    My daughter is going to a tech school in Denmark and wants to use her phone for local wifi access (web browsing and iMessage, etc).  This morning we were able to exchange text messages when she was not connected to wifi.  It appears she would have been using cellular without a global plan.  Even with a global plan text/sms messages would cost $0.50 each
    I'd like a checklist of what to turn off so her phone will work on wifi only.

    We have it working now and it appears that turning off SMS and MMS is what we had missed before.
    Additionally, it seems that she can only iMessage with someone who has started the iMessage conversation from here in the U.S.   Otherwise, her iMessages are not delivered.
    Didn't get to try the Airplane Mode suggestion but it sounds pretty likely to work,,,
    Thanks for the suggestions!

  • Change sender Address when using SAP Mail via Exchange

    Hi,
    I'm using FM  ZSO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 to send email with .pdf attachment. all works fine but the recipient sometimes replies to the email which I dont want to happen, so I need the email to appear to have come from an alternative address than mine.e.g. from 'saphelpdeskatxxx.com'
    ....code I have tried to change is Originator here...
    CALL FUNCTION 'SO_OBJECT_SEND'
           EXPORTING
              EXTERN_ADDRESS             = ' '
              FOLDER_ID                  = ' '
              FORWARDER                  = ' '
                OBJECT_FL_CHANGE           = OBJECT_FL_CHANGE
                OBJECT_HD_CHANGE           = OBJECT_HD_CHANGE
              OBJECT_ID                  = ' '
                OBJECT_TYPE                = OBJECT_TYPE
                OUTBOX_FLAG                = PUT_IN_OUTBOX
                ORIGINATOR                 = ORIGINATOR  <----
                ORIGINATOR_TYPE            = ORIGINATOR_TYPE
              OWNER                      = ' '
              STORE_FLAG                 = ' '
           IMPORTING
                OBJECT_ID_NEW              = OBJECT_ID_NEW
                SENT_TO_ALL                = SENT_TO_ALL
                ORIGINATOR_ID              = SENDER_ID
    but that doesnt work.
    Is this something I need to do with Exchange and not SAP?
    Any help appreciated.
    Steve

    Hi Aditya,
    I took a copy of the SOI1 function group, called it ZSOI1. Copied Function  SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 to Z version. In there there's a call to FM ZSO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1
    In call arguments set SENDER_ADDRESS to desired static email address, then set SENDER_ADDRESS_TYPE = 'SMTP' - it was that statement that I was stuck on for months
    Hope that helps,
    Steve
