When should I put the Nike + iPod sensor to sleep?

The user's guide says: "if you want to store the sensor for a long period of time to make it stop transmitting, you can put it to sleep".
But for which long period? a week? a month?

does one have to put it to sleep after using it?

  • Do Nike+ iPod sensor have a battery and can i die?

I was just wondering if the Nike+iPod sensors have a battery and if it does, can it die? Why I ask is because I was trying to turn on the sensor and link it to my iPod touch and my iPod nano. But it just says searching for sensor. and i put the sensor in my shoe and walk around but it still can not link? and i also did this:
    1. Hold down center button and menu button on iPod until the Apple Logo appears and then let go
    2. Hold down the sensor's button for 5 seconds then press it twice one after another quickly, so hold for 5 then click click
    3. Put the sensor in your shoe
    4. Put the receiver into iPod and go to Nike+ iPod > Settings > Link then click center button to link to new sensor
    5. Walk around and the receiver should pick up on the sensor
But it still won't work.. so i was wondering if my sensor died... So can the Nike+ iPod sensor die? Please help, because i really don't want to buy another one.

The device must be restored from the computer it was last synced with.

  • My iPhone 5 won't sync with the Nike Plus sensor

My iPhone 5 won't sync with Ike Plus sensor, new or old.

    Hello bfelix,
You may need to switch 'Nike + iPod' off in your Settings, then re-enabling it. Make sure that the sensor is not in sleep mode (which can be corrected by pressing the small button on the side opposite the Nike and Apple logos). Depending on the age of the sensor, however, the battery may be depleted.
Make sure you have the latest version of... iPhone... software and iTunes installed.
Make sure the sensor is not in sleep mode by using a pen or stylus to press the Sleep/Wake button on your sensor once to wake it up.
On your home screen, tap Settings.
Scroll down and tap the Nike + iPod option.
Disable the Nike + iPod feature and then re-enable it by tapping the On/Off button at the top of the page.
Place the sensor back in the shoe and walk around to activate the sensor as you attempt to relink it to your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS.
If the issue persists and you have access to another sensor, link the new sensor to your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS. If you can link the new sensor to your iPod touch or iPhone, take in your first sensor for service.

The Nike + iPod Sensor's battery is not replaceable or rechargeable and has a life of over a thousand active hours. The sensor has a sophisticated built-in power-management system, allowing the sensor to consume power only when active (that is, when it senses motion).

  • The button on my Ipod Touch (the big one just below the screen) will not work when I press it. Nothing happens, when before it would wake my IPod out of sleep mode, and exit out of programs I was using. Now, no reactions. What should I do?

The button on my Ipod Touch (the big one just below the screen) will not work when I press it. Nothing happens, when before it would wake my IPod out of sleep mode, and exit out of programs I was using (ex. ITunes or Safari to main screen) . Now, no reactions. When I press the button, it appears to be more indented then it was before. What should I do? Do I need to get it fixed or replaced, or is this a problem I can fix on my own? Whatever it is, I really need some advice. Thanks in advance.

  • HT201604 When i go for a run using the nike plus sensor do i need to carry my phone on me?

I currently just bought the nike plus sensor for my shoe and i was wondering if it would still work if i don't carry my phone on me while i run, i feel like it weighs me down and its just awkward to run with.

Yes you do, otherwise the data can't be sent to your iphone.
During your run you'd also want to get spoke updates etc.

  • My iPod touch Nike ipod sensor is not working. Please help.

My iPod touch Nike ipod sensor is not working. Please help. I even walked around when it asked me to. Also I have latest version of iOS. PLease help

Update: I seem to have fixed the problem!  I went to the "summary" section of my iPod after clicking on the device on the left side of iTunes.  I checked the box that allowed me to "manually manage music and videos" and applied this option.  The songs are syncing!  And, yay, they're playing on my iPod now!  Hopefully, this helps anyone else who might have this problem.  There might be other issues, but this is working for now.

I have the "Nike + iPod" App again what am I suppose to do with it, this would be my second time. Someone told me it has serious implications is this true?

"Someone told me it has serious implications is this true?"
    Serious implications?
If you have a Nike+ sensor in your shoe then you would use it to track you run.
Otherwise, you would do nothing with it.

  • Can't update the Nike + iPod voice kit

Every time my nano (4Gb, second generation, software version 1.1.3) is connected to my iMac, iTunes 7.2 pop the message that a new Nike + iPod voice kit is available. When I click Install, nothing happens, no download or installation process begins. iTunes starts syncing contacts and calendars on the nano and that's it. I tried to update the voice kit with iTunes 7.1 to no avail either. Can someone advise some help? Thank you.

Thanks GFF. I have followed the instructions on the link you provided. I was then able to download the voice kit but it doesn't get installed correctly on the nano. Each time I connect the nano to my iMac, ITunes keeps popping the installation message and there's no French voices on the nano when using the Nike + iPod kit.
Well, running with Lance's voice is better than nothing but I would prefer to hear feedback in my native tongue...

  • Should I disable the sudden motion sensor after upgrading to an SSD

I put a 1TB Samsung 840 EVO in my MacBook Pro (9,1).  Should I disable the sudden motion sensor?  Does it do anything else other than park the hard disk (like something with the fans)?

You may want to read up on the SMS here:
Mac notebooks: About the Sudden Motion Sensor
Sounds like you can safely disable it if you wish since MacBooks which ship with an SSD drive seem to have it disabled.

  • Serial number Nike + iPod Sensor

    Hello dear!
I bought a Nike + iPod Sensor which has 4h125pmmvsx serial number, no more accepted so I can support.
The equipment is not working, and the manual, your battery has a life of 1000 hours. It did not last more than 20 hours.
Where can I use to solve my problem? I'm in Brazil and do not know who to look for.
    Thank you,
    Gamaliel Alexandrino

How old is the sensor? The battery can die.
    Did it ever work?
Does the iPod detect the sensor?

  • When should I charge the ipad?

when should I charge the ipad?

As an FYI, you don't have to run the battery all the way down. What is recommended is one full charge cycle at least once a month.
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
    Exercise Your Machine
Lithium-ion polymer batteries need to be used for maximum performance. If you don’t use your device often, be sure to complete a charge cycle at least once a month.
A charge cycle means using all of the battery’s power, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could listen to your iPod for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle.

  • Nano 7th Gen resets when I attempt to calibrate niki shoe sensor

I cannot calibrate the Niki Shoe sensor.  As I get close to completing the calibration the Nano shuts down and restarts.  Also, I can never see the calibration of just doing a basic run registering as a run, the data is registering as a walk.  Yesterday during a basic run, the Nano did a restart just before I completed my three miles.
Is this a Nano defect or a Niki Sensor defect?
    Thanks,
    Ray

How do I calibrate or recalibrate the Nike + iPod system?
To learn how to calibrate Nike + iPod system, please read "Nike + iPod: How to calibrate the Nike + iPod Sport Kit" or the Nike + iPod User's Guide.
Ordinarily, the sensor does not require recalibration. You may want to consider recalibrating if your fitness level changes or if you would like to try to improve the accuracy of your results.

  • How do i get the nike  ipod to work for my workouts

how do i get the nike+ipod on my ipod touch to for my workouts?

To use the built-in Nike app you need to purchase the shoe sensor.

You can use this app without the shoe sensor. It uses the sensors in the iPod.
