When starting my MAC on the home page with my icons-- how do I arrange icons alphabetically left to right
How does one arrange icons from left to right ala Windows. I would like the Mac disk icon in the upper left of the window followed by app and file icons to appear in alphabetical order from left to right. I know it will go vertically and then to the next row. I have been reading English like this for over 60 yrs and the default set-up gives an old man a large pain in the head. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think they do it to be a pain in the ***. There is no reason to have people read in reverse alpha order. Some countries read right to left but here it's reversed. You think the geniuses here would figure out how to make allowance for that in their software.
I love the mac mini's size, etc, but using mac in general has made me nuts. I don't understand how people think it's intuitive. I find myself taking a ridiculous amount of steps to get anything done, but it may just be me. I know some people just love them.

When I click on a link in an email in Thunderbird, Firefox 4 starts, but only shows the home page(s) not the page of the link
I think i've found how to fix this issue when it appears. Don't know what caused it to happen, but that's up to the devs.
In Thunderbird, you need to re-register http and https to make them open with Firefox (or open well with firefox in this case).
How to to this?
Well... open the about:config in thunderbird. You can achieve this by clicking configuration-editor in the advanced tab.
search for the strings: network.protocol-handler.warn-external.https and network.protocol-handler.warn-external.http. Set both to "true".
The next time you click on a link from within Thunderbird, it will ask you to set wich program you'd like to open it with.
Be Aware now!!! Firefox may already be listed in there, but don't pick that one. instead... choose to browse for the app and point to the binairy/exe of firefox.
(for example: /usr/bin/firefox or c:/program files/mozilla/firefox.)
You will notice that firefox now does open up with the page you just clicked on.
If it doesn't right away... just restart thunderbird and check again.
Please respond if this works for you too on all platforms. It's more interesting to know it does than if it's not.

I have a problem getting my IPad to start from shutdown. I get the Apple logo then when it is ready for me to slide my finger across the lower part of the screen to get the home page, it takes at least four attempts. When it does eventually open the home page, all works perfectly well. The screen is clean so I cannot see any reason for this annoying problem. Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Thank you. You could try wiping the hard drive and reinstalling the OS and all your programs.
Did you install any programs yesterday?
If not it may be best to take it to an Apple care center and have it checked out. Take it in while it is asleep so you ccan show then what is happening. -

I have dial up - once I connect to the internet, I get the message server not found and am unable to go anywhere on the internet. This started trying to load my banks online site and started about a week ago. I've tried freeing popup blocker, gone through the settings with a bank IT specialist, tried to us IE which has resulted in a request for a cable and now no access to any website. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.<br />
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

How to make Firefox 8.0.1 load only the home page when starting?
After upgrading to 8.0.1, I see two tabs being loaded when starting - my home page and this http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/central/. I dont find a setting to not load mozilla page.
This happens only when the first instance of firefox is started. If I start another firefox, it loads only the home page tab.-> Update Firefox to the latest version 10

When reading my downloaded paper the Safari page sometimes comes up and I have to press the Home button and start all over again but same thing happens. I even made sure the paper download was the first thing I did on my Ipad and that no other apps were open.
Have you tried a Reset (No Data will be Lost)
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

When i start Firefox ( 5.0.1 ) it loads the home page fine but along with it, it starts playing a video i watched earlier on youtube and it is invisible ( no where in tabs ) and i can just hear the sound. After playing the video one time it stops.
Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.
