When to use template builder versus ant tasks
Hi,
I like to know if ant tasks are more appropriate to use during application development for server configuration or template builder? or does it matter at all?
I am wondering how to manage the server configuration during integration and testing?
thanks,
Nasrin
Audacity (and other audio editors) are better suited for simple audio recoding and editing - they're much leaner and more reliant. I would never trust GB for a task like recording a long speech or concert.
I also prefer an audio editor to edit recorded speech - you can edit with much more detail, and by default the stuff you delete doesn't leave a gap (I know GB can do that too).
So basically, I use GB for anything that has to do with music or at least multi-track recording, the rest I do in an audio editor.
As for using both apps together: I've experimented with using both in parallel in the past – like taking a recording with a low level and normalize it in Audacity while the GB file is open. Nothing for the faint-hearted, since this is not something you're supposed to do - but as long as you don't change the length of a recording, GB was quite tolerant towards that procedure.

Library Projects compiled using Flash Builder and ANT have different outputs
Hi Guys.,
I am really having hard time to get something work right with RSL projects in Flex 3.2 SDK. Here is my weird problem.
I have a library projects which has the following settings in Flash Builder
Link Type : External
airglobal.swc
framework.swc
datavisualization.swc
rpc.swc
utilites.swc
applicationupdater.swc
applicationupdater_ui.swc
Link Type: Merged into code
airframework.swc
servicemonitor.swc
Compiler settings

When I compile my library projects I get a MyLibraryproject.swc. The SWC has the following files in it
mx/controls/HTML.png
mx/core/Windows.png
library.swf
Note: airframework.swc and servicemonitor.swc has a many png files and properties files in it. But these properties and png files are not included when compiled in Flash builder.
But when the same project is compiled using ANT compc task, i get all the png and properties files from airframework.swc and servicemonitor.swc files into my library project SWC file.
Here is the ANT version which is used to compile the library project

Any insights is greatly appreciated.!#1, If it compiles then you have no issue. There's no reason at this point not to use 4.6. You should bundle a captive runtime to assure the users computer won't need to have AIR installed at all.
#2, Papervision is old. Use the Stage3D and/or a wrapper framework. As far as the generic "If I download lots of data will it take the user more time to load it", well, of course. Just don't make the loading experience painful. Entertain them while they way or find ways of displaying data sooner than later. If it's desirable on the web has more to do with the context of the app and the device displaying it. In other words, a phone user would find it easy but obviously not a desktop user.
#3, Definitely referring you to Google on that one.
#4, Size always matters, it's common sense. The more you process the harder it is. While I haven't done AR I've used the Microsoft Kinect SDK and ANE and tracking was extremely fast but limited. From what I've seen and your basic built in location and direction hardware on any mobile device you shouldn't have much trouble. Depends on what you're doing.
#5, This discussion would be way too large for a forum. You'd need to consult a firm experienced in AR development.
#6, "Applications using the commercial license do not have to provide source code, but must pay a licensing fee. Contact ARToolworks at [email protected] for more information." They will base your price on your product, there is no single price.
#7, The models could be huge and elaborate or tiny and simple which changes the answer. Consult the answer in #4. Ultimately most people are getting on fast networks with mobile and excessively fast on desktop/wifi. Size matters a lot less than 3 years ago.
#8, Depends on what you're doing. You have to explain it. -
Building from flex builder vs ant task
I have a flex application written using flex builder. When I
build it and run it using flex builder, or create an air file from
flex builder and run that, then my application works just fine.
However, I would like people without copies of flexBuilder
installed to be able to build my application, so I am using the
flex ant task (flex-mxmlc) to build my application. As far as I can
tell I have the same configuration, and the same libraries included
in the ant task. However, when I run the air file generated by the
ant task nothing happens. If you look in the task manager, you can
see that the application is running, but the main window for the
application never appears.
I tried running the swf through a debug version of flash to
get some log output, and I am getting a bunch of exceptions, the
first of which is:
VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.display::NativeWindow
could not be found.
at flash.display::MovieClip/nextFrame()
at mx.managers::SystemManager/deferredNextFrame()
at
mx.managers::SystemManager/preloader_initProgressHandler()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent()
at mx.preloaders::Preloader/timerHandler()
at flash.utils::Timer/_timerDispatch()
at flash.utils::Timer/tick()
It seems like it might not be finding the main flex library
(flexlib.swc), is that where that class would be? In my ant task I
have an include-libraries tag that points to that file.
Anyone have any ideas?I experienced a similar problem (although the class that
could not be found was different for me). Googling around I found
someone who had a similar problem and claimed that using the
flexlib.swc library was the culprit.
The root of the problem is that the Flex SDK that comes
bundled with the Flex Builder has libraries (under frameworks/libs)
that are NOT included in plain free Flex SDK that you and I are
presumably using on our build machines.
When flexlib.swc is linked in, it causes certain classes to
be required at runtime. Apparently when you compile these classes
are linked in if available, but when they are not the compilation
still succeeds. Only you get a VerifyError when you run the thing.
What worked for me was to copy all the additional .swc files
found in my Flex Builder SDK's frameworks/libs directory to the
same directory on my build machine. Also you will need to copy the
additional files under frameworks/locale/en_US.
Rebuild and clear your browser's cache and it should then
work. -
ClassCastException using Subant and wldeploy ant task
Hi!
I'm using subant to call all diffrent build.xml files located in subdirectories. The buildfile looks like this:
<project name="extern.call" default="callall">
<target name="callall">
<fileset id="buildfile.set" dir=".." includes="*2/build.xml">
<exclude name="Br*2/*"/>
</fileset>
<subant target="deploy-local" inheritall ="false" failonerror="true">
<fileset refid="buildfile.set"/>
</subant>
</target>
</project>
The first called build.xml files works fine ... but the execution of the second build.xml (it's not important which file is the second one, it's crash always at the second call), stop with a "java.lang.ClassCastException".

Where do the Datavisualization files go when not using Flex Builder?
My application has charting and I use the sdk and ant
directly, not flex builder. I know where those files are under FB
but where do I place the datavisualization swf, swc and swz files
in the sdk in order to have charting without flex builder?
Thanks!Hey lllaass,
Thanks for your response.
I basically got an email from a friend with a link to google drive, that link took me to drive n then there was a download bottom which popped when I clicked on the files icon, these are 3 audio files which are recorded on a computer n sent to me via drive..
I too think it opened directly from drive.. Let me know though if u do come across some solution.
Thanks -

Because this is add in component in MS Word.So some times this installation is not perfect.Try it once.
I hope this will work -
Complex/Multi Query Template using template builder.
Hi Everyone!
I'm learning BI Publisher & Template Builder for word-07. I have completed tutorials that are based on single query or single XML data. is there any tutorial that demonstrate working with multiple queries OR XML data sets.
Best Regards.thanks for the suggestion. my problem is resolved.... I have studied theBI Data Modeling guide and findout that i have to create a data model that can have multiple data sets. after that i create data model in BI Publisher with mutiple data sets and then i create a template in word in online mode. and because im working in online mode i have access to all data sets of my data model. and this problem is resolved.
Now I have another problem.... my ultimate target is to develop reports for Apex with dynamic behaviour. after developing the template i upload it to apex in Report Layout shared compnent and it work fine for hardcode query.
I dont know how to pass parameters to Report Query at runtime. i tried to make a where clasue like WHERE REQ_ID = :REQ_ID. but it did not work. can you or anybody who reading this help me how to do this in apex.
Best Regards. -
When toe use a JavaBean versus a taglib?
From my knowledge so far (probably basic knowledge) it appears that custom taglibs for an application could easily be used as java Beans.
I was just reading a book which gave examples of how to use tags and create your own taglib for an application. It seems that all the taglib just is used to call functions, and a bean can be used in the same way.
For example,
<%@ taglib prefix = "myQuery" uri = "..." %>
<%@ taglib prefix = "c" uri = " ... " %>
${myQuery.setId(1)} // Here to set any value really
<c:set var = "items" value="${myQuery:getItems()}" scope="application" />
My question is is this method OK to use the call to setId or should I use a Bean?
<jsp:useBean id="myQuery" class="..." >
<jsp:setProperty name="id" property="1">
<c:set var = "items" value="${myQuery.getItems()}" scope="application" />Perhaps the Java Bean is not the proper way to
connect with databases? I read about the sql tag,
but I don't want all that stuff in my JSP page - I'd
like it in the background.Good call. The JavaBean is the best place to put the DB stuff, not a taglib...
If I have a Bean, that has a void function in it...The key is to call the void function from some other setter or getter funtion in the bean that JSTL will call:
>
For example, I have a class which is going to connect
to a database and run queries. So, I would first
set the properties needed by the query (<c: set
target="...")Use the setter methods to store the values locally in the bean...
run the queryNot yet....
get the properties back (${someBean.someValue})This calls a Object getSomeValue() method. The first part of the getSomeValue method would be to call the 'run the query' function that connects to the database, does the SQL, etc, and returns a representation of the data. This method would then read that representation and convert it such that the web page can handle it.
<general idea in code>
private java.util.Map runQuery() {
//get values needed for the connection
makeDBConnection();
ResultSet rs = getResultsOfQuery(/*whatever params*/);
java.util.Map results = fillMapFromResultSet(rs);
return results;
public String getSomeValue() {
java.util.Map results = runQuery();
return (String) results.get("SomeValue");
}>
But how can I run the query without using a scriplet?
I read about using a taglib for that, but if I create
a separate tag and call the query function, wouldn't
the Java Bean not have access to that? -

Configuration Template Builder gives error when selecting domain
Hello,
I'm trying to use the Configuration Template Builder on Solaris to
create a template. I'm starting the builder like this:
java -client -jar /bea/weblogic81/common/lib/config.jar -target=template
When it asks what domain I want to create a template for, I select one
of my domains, then click on the Next button. After a second or two I
get the following stacktrace in the console. I then get similar errors
later in the process.

it works (the directory with the config.jar file, which is common/lib),
then these relative paths will not work. I get the error shown below

my keynote 09 version 5.3
i am using the arabic font albayan the problem is that when i use the build tool in the inspector the uper and the lower part of the word is gone i tryed to make the font smaller or adjust the position and that did not change so is there any way to fix this please because we can not use the build and the inspector tool like that ???!!!!!All iWork apps have bugs like this that make them generally unsuitable for RTL scripts like Arabic. All you can do is try a different font and see if the results are any better. Or try another app like OpenOffice or PowerPoint.
Let Apple know this needs to be fixed via

Jwsc ant task WL 9.1 does not support module and jwsfileset?
Hi!
I am doing some work using the WL9.1 tools in order to build and deploy web services.I have successfully used the jws tasks though while I have several files that I want to compile automatically I went through the WL documentation and the use of
jwsc ..with nested tags Module and jwsfileset
Though when I try to invoke the Ant task I get
'The <jwsc> type doesn't support the nested "module" element'
Any idea? Is it because of my 9.1 installation?do i need 9.2?
my task is something like
<target name="build-service">
<jwsc
srcdir="src"
destdir="output/TestEar" >
<module contextPath="test" name="myJar" >
<jwsfileset srcdir="src/examples/webservices/jwsc" >
<include name="**/*.java" />
</jwsfileset>
</jwsc>
</target>
Thank you for your time!Ok the answer was easy I suppose!Check the documentation of 9.1 and 9.2 the ant tasks do not have the same specs!
9.2 feature then -
Reboot before sysprep when I want to add an installation task with Office 2013
Hi all,
I want to buid a reference computer with a genuine Win7 wim file, correct drivers, uptodate patches, and usefull applications. So I use a “Build and Capture Task Sequence”. The new reference image captured, I can use it with WDS or a media
to any computers, using a second and different “Build and Capture Task Sequence.”
All things were right, I could add Acrobat Reader, Java and some others application, but it failed when I tried to add “Add Application Task” with Office 2013. I could import the software, I discovered the new panel to configure config.xml
and mychoice.msp, but when I run the Tasq sequence, when it begin to sysprep the OS, a few time before the capture, the computer reboots. Sysprep does not run, and the image is not captured.
I can add any software installation in the Tasq sequence but not one with Office 2013.
What do you think about this issue?Hi,
Some pieces of advice, since I have managed to create a Windows 7 WIM file with Office 2013 embedded without any problems:
Build your reference image in a virtual machine, not on physical hardware, to prevent a gigantic driverstore with drivers for one or more models, and having to rebuild your image every single time you use a new model. This is not how MDT works, MDT works
hardware agnostic, since it inject's drivers of hardware for each model before the WIM file is applied to your target computer.
Do you really want to embed applications like Adobe Reader and Java in the image? They have a release every month. Do you want to (or is there room for) updating your image every single month? Put them in the deployment phase of your task sequence. This
way these applications are left out the WIM file, but are installed after the WIM file is applied to your system. Yes this takes a little bit more time when deploying a machine, but that's time you'll save on not managing your WIM file every single month
Check your
log files, make sure your machine is not Domain Joined, since that is the biggest mistake people make when sysprepping a machine. And check
Setuperr.log for any sysprep errors. Guaranteed it has noting to do with Office 2013
Good luck!

C:\test>WLS6.1, service pack 2? I didn't know there were any service packs for 6.1 and
6.0 didn't support wsgen and web services??

This is a known bug which is fixed in WLS 6.1 SP2.
The workaround is to change the complex data types
to have more than one level package names.
for eg: change ....
package foo;
class Data{}
to :
package foo.bar;
class Data{}
-manoj
