When will Firefox be ready to read PDF-files. Why is it lasting that long ???

Firefox 4.0.1 on MAC OSX 10.6.7. with Intel processor.

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended. Firefox 3.6.18 would be the safer choice.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 5.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.

  • When will we be able to read NEF files from a NIKON 5200?

Just got a Nikon D5200. Photoshop and Bridge cannot read NEF files from this camera. It worked fine with my D3100 camera. When will we be able to read NEF files from a NIKON 5200?

    Welcome to the forum!
As often, we cannot give a simple answer without more informations: what version of Photoshop and Bridge are you talking about?
The rule of thumb is to update Camera Raw to the latests version compatible with Photoshop, and if it does not work, to download the last version of the DNG converter and use it on the files to convert them to DNG that can be opened in the older versions of Camera Raw and other raw converters.
Normally, to update go to Help>Updates...
According to http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.htmlhe first version of Camera Raw that can open the NEF from the 5200 is Camera Raw 7.3, that works with Photoshop CS6. If you version of Photoshop is older, you'll need to use the DNG converter 7.4:
(but, since you don't state what operating system you are using, here are the links for both versions:

  • Can I copy/paste a FF Reader pdf file to a 2nd computer that does not have FF Reader?

I have 2 computers, one has Fire Fox Reader one does not. Is it possible to copy/paste by way of a jump drive a pdf file that is saved using Fire Fox Reader to the computer that does not have Fire Fox Reader and be able to open & work with that pdf file? The second computer only has Adobe Reader installed.
I already know that an Adobe Reader pdf file moved from the 2nd computer to the first will open, it opens in Fire Fox Reader.

Yes, if you save a PDF file then you can open that file with any program that can handle such a PDF file.
So if the other computer has the Adobe Reader then that program will be used.

  • When will firefox be able to support html files in embed tags again?

A previous question was answered here that stated that firefox did not work with html files in embed tags. Is this a problem that is currently being worked on, or does Firefox just no longer support this?

hello, a html file is no suitable content for an <embed>-tag. you'll have to use ''iframe ''or ''object ''for it instead...

  • When a pdf file is accessed through an online link nothing appears although I can open and read pdf files otherwise.

I uninstalled then reinstalled Firefox 7, but still get a blank page when I click on a pdf file link. I have no trouble reading PDF files stored on my PC. I use Foxit Reader.

  • When will Firefox increase their HTML5 support?

Like, since Firefox 11 the HTML5 support hasn't gone up a bit. Like it supports 345 points. As when even Opera and Safari bulldozed Firefox with a 376 and 385 pointer. Then Chrome FLATTENED Firefox, with a 437 points. And even Internet Explorer is chasing Firefox like a cat and a mouse, with 319 points and counting. Like WHEN, will Firefox actually put some more effort into building their HTML5 support?

There is always work going on on increasing our support of the HTML5 standard. For example, from Firefox 14.0.1 to Firefox 17 (still in development, the HTML5Test has gone from 345 to 383. The HTML5 standard is still evolving, and work is always being done. However, this isn't the best place to discuss this. [https://developer.mozilla.org/ https://developer.mozilla.org/] is the developer portal for Firefox and covers all the HTML5 work going on.

  • When will firefox be available for Sony ericsson Experia x10i

Hi, I have a Sony ericsson Experia x10i smartphone. I cannot instal firefox a a browser because it has toolittle RAM.
When will Firefox issue a browser for this phone?

I dont know about the plans Mozilla are making for that but i can surely tell you that you can try fixing your RAM issue, and somehow the Android app of Firefox will be able to run. It actually should run, unless you have all sorts of stuff already running on the phone. Good Luck!

  • When will firefox be coming out with the complete 5.0 version that is compatible with McAfee site advisor? As I understand it is beta now.

McAfee told me the current 5.0 version is a beta version, which is why Site advisor will not work with it. They also told me they are not updating site advisor anytime soon. So when will Firefox be updated to a complete and compatible version?

  • I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing

I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt or damaged. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing

Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder.

  • Adobe Reader will not read pdf files on internet

I have lastest version of Adobe reader on a new mac running OS 10 Maverick. This has latest safari (7.0.1) as my internet browser. My adobe reader reads pdf files already present on my desktop, but will not read pdf files from the internet even after I allow "trust" this site. Can anyone help me to resolve the issue please. Is it a bug that Adobe has not solved??

Sorry if you did not understand my instructions.
Regarding bullet point 4: Check Reader >Preferences > Internet > Web Browser Options> The blessed app should be " /Applications/Adobe Reader.app"
You specified that you don't see the path, then it might be some problem in your installation.
Please see the attached image and let me know what you see on your system.
Regarding bullet point 5: Load PDF in Safari.
This means open any PDFs in Safari web browser.
Please make sure the below highlighted plug-ins are installed on your system by going to the specified path. And make sure the version of the below two plug-ins are 11.0.06. You can find the version by selecting the plugin and hit Command+i.
Go to your Main Hard Disk/Library/ Internet Plug-Ins/ AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin

  • When ever i try to open a PDF file while on a Firefox browser an endless supply of empty tabs keep poping up, to the poit that i have to restart the computer. What should i do?

This is very annoying because the only way i can read PDF files is on a whole different computer, this makes doing school work very irritating.

    Atentamente,
    Gonçalo Matos

    g -
I was able to fix the problem with some help from Apple. Whenever I last downloaded Reader, I apparently didn’t complete the process by accepting the Reader contract. I was able to go right to that point in the process and complete the installation. The messages that I needed Reader but it was already installed were quite confusing. It would have been nice if the Adobe installation process that I was re-trying this morning had been able to detect a partial installation. The Troubleshooting page almost had me doing some ridiculous things that wouldn’t have helped.

  • When will LR be able to read Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II Raw files?

When will LR be able to read Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II Raw files?

It has been added to Camera Raw 8.8 and DNG converter 8.8. So I suspect it will probably be added to the next release of Lightroom, whenever that might be. In the meantime, you can download DNG converter 8.8 and create DNG copies of your raw files that you can use in Lightroom now. No one knows when the next release of Lightroom will be. A lot of users anticipate that it will be soon, but there is nothing from Adobe giving any hint of a release date.
