  • Email or contact box is no longer opening when I click on a link within any website

whenever I click on any link withing any website that should and always had either opened an email, contact us section withing that website, or my default email, nothing happens. example, going to a website that has a link for contact us, I click on the obvious link and nothing happens. This is not just happening within one website, but every site that I go to. Absolutely nothing happens when I click on links that are obvious links that should direct you to either another area or open an email within every website I go to. This started happening about 6 weeks ago, now in the last week, my firefox keeps crashing for no reason. I use a mac OS X 10.4.11.. I have made no changes to my system, have not downloaded any new programs, and everything else is working fine with my mac.

Further to jscher2000's suggestion yesterday: I think I misunderstood the suggestion, which I didn't find very clear. I've now discovered that if I send a Firefox open window (with one or more open tabs) to hide in the dock first, then clicking on a link twice (once to bring the mail program to the front and again to open the link), this will cause the hidden tab/s to come out of hiding AND a new tab for the link will open. Cumbersome, and I still maintain there is a bug in version 32, but this workaround is at least quicker than copying and pasting the link.
Thanks to cor-el and jscher2000 for your responses.

Below is how it is being done.  This worked perfectly for years. MS Office 2007 does complain that the file extension does not match the data format (it's a tab delimited text file but I'm pretending it's an Excel file so they'll be prompted to view it as a spreadsheet in Excel) but you just click open and it works fine.  This issue with IE is new.  Let me know if you have any more ideas.

  • Firefox will not open my email client when I click on a "mailto" link on any website. How can I fix this.

Anytime I drag my cursor across, or try to click on a "mailto" email link on any webpage, it will display an incorrect e-mail address (it seems to default to one in particular). It will not open a new e-mail window and if I "copy e-mail address" it's the wrong one. I've tried everything and was hoping with new updates the problem would solve itself but obviously it hasn't.
HELP ! This is driving me CRAZY

For the settings to check to ensure that Firefox opens your email client, see [[changing the e-mail program used by Firefox]]. I don't know why it shows the wrong email address.

  • Why can't I link to any websites using Blogger?

I recently set up a blog using Blogger and the link button doesn't link me to any websites. The test link shows that everything is fine but the text, when published, doesn't have a link to anything - shows just the test. I have already contacted Blogger and posted this question and examples on their forums. I have been told that the links work perfectly on Firefox 3.6 and they are correctly set up with all the proper coding. No one seems to be able to give ma an answer. I can't get this to work in Explorer or Safari either.

Does the link work on a different device or a computer? It's possible the video they linked to is not available for viewing on a mobile device, or that the link is bad.

  • Whenever i click on an email link from a website I get redirected to my pages app.

This has been happening for some time now, whenever I'm on a website and I want to contact someone, I click on the email link, but instead of it taking me to my email page, it takes me to Pages. Does anyone know why and how to fix it?

From the Mail menu bar, select

  • I use Firefox 3.6.8 (only optin to ask question was v3.6 or earlier so I did it here)....whenever i click a link on any website, a window opens to browse bookmarks or history or both, instead of opening the link. Is this easily solved. Thank you.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems<br />
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br />

  • I use XP and Outlook version11. When I receive a link in an emai it takes me to Explorer, not Firefox. How can I fix this?

Links to websites in emails take me to Windows Explorer, not Mozilla. Is this changeable and how?

I think you meant to say, Links always take you into Internet Explorer, not Windows Explorer (that is the file manager, it is not a real browser). This is a Windows setting - Mozilla cannot make Outlook to behave, but Windows can. But first, open your Mozilla browser on any old website, and have Internet Explorer closed. Next, open Add or Remove Programs (it is opened from its item in Windows Control Panel - if the W.C.P. is not in your START-button menu, open the Control Panel via My Computer) and look for the left-side menu bar. Left-click on the icon marked "Set Program Access and Defaults." Left-click the "Custom" radiobutton, and it will show you the list of Defaults that Microsoft has already set for you, or maybe you will need to click on the little double-down arrow at upper right, to see the list. [Microsoft always has it set to Internet Explorer, for the browser.] You want to change that, so, if Mozilla or Firefox be shown here, select its radiobutton; if not shown, select the radiobutton for the "current Web browser." Leave the checkmark in the checkbox for Internet Explorer - you might need to run it in event Mozilla crashes or comes down with a virus - some time in the future. You can also review the other settings there, and fix them the way you want them. Happy browsing!

  • Flash Javascript links not working in Internet Explorer

    Hi,
I've searched through the previous discussion in this forum
but couldn't find the answer. I'm sure this is a common problem
    that can be resolved easily.
i have a site that has a series of thumbnail links that opens
custom sized pages via Javascript. Works perfect in Firefox, but
only 1 of the 10 links works in IE.
I'm using internet explorer 6 - pretty sure its SP2 (not at
computer to check - using works computer to post this message).
With IE, there is an icon on the bottom left that says "Done"
with a warning label on it.
How can I resolve this issue so the site works fine with
    Internet Explorer.
    Thanks

Can you post a link to the site? You say one link works, is
this working link set up the same exact way (syntax, etc.) as the
other 9 links? The warning label in IE wouldn't be from any code
that is contained within Flash, as IE doesn't load that code when
it loads the flash. So, that warning must be from the html/body
code of the webpage itself, not your flash document. If you double
click on that warning lable, a box should pop up that gives you a
    line number for the error.

  • Numerous websites linked to desktop icons won't open with Firefox as my default browser, but will when I subsequently designate Internet Explorer as the default browser. However, when I select IE, I cannot open Firefox. How do I fix this? CharlieA

When I designate Firefox as my default browser, I cannot open any destop link to any website, except Mozilla. When I change that designation to Internet Explorer, I can open all destop linked websites, except for Firefox. What do I do?

Sometimes Windows gives you weird error messages when you click a link in another program or double-click a desktop shortcut. These messages usually occur only when Firefox was closed and has to be launched before the link can be loaded. Is that what you're getting? This occurs when Firefox's registry settings get crossed up, as described in this article: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Windows_error_opening_Internet_shortcut_or_local_HTML_file_-_Firefox Windows error opening Internet shortcut or local HTML file - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base].
If that isn't it, what happens exactly?

  • After recent upgrades Firefox prevents links in several websites from working whilst there is no such problem with other browsers - help please.

Since a recent upgrade of Firefox links in several websites no longer work. They used to be fine and I loved Firefox. The problems do not exist with other browsers e.g. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome. More specifically, on talktalk.co.uk the links to news items do not work, nor do those to "My Account." On Barclays.co.uk the link to print my statement doesn't work - similarly on MBNA.com
There are several suggested solutions around the internet but all are complex, none so far have worked and I don't see why I should need to carry out the suggested tweaks. Firefox used to be great - now it isn't. The problem seems to be with the upgrade. Please help me to get my Firefox to where it should be.

Thank you but please don't waste any more time on this. I have done as I said I would - removed and re- installed Firefox, cleared all cookies and caches (CCleaner) - still doesn't work. As I said at the start, the problem is not confined to Talktalk - it applies to several other sites and links. The problem does not occur with Internet Explorer nor with Google Chrome so I am now using those.
