Where are my saved Keyboards shortcuts in Illustrator CS6 on a Mac (Mountain Lion)?

I can't find my .kys file to backup?
Any ideas where I can find it in OSX Mountain Lion?

It's in your user folder/Lbrary/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS6
The library  folder in the user folder is hidden on Mac OS. Search Google on how to show it and thank Apple for this great idea.

  • Need help saving layer styles Photoshop CS6 Extended for Mac (Mountain Lion)

I have been trying to learn Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended on a Macbook Pro (Mountain Lion). My Adobe software has been updated. I have been doing tutorials using a lot of layer styles. In one of these tutorials, it was suggested that if I would possibly want to use the style again that I should save it. At this point I had entered all my layer styles info and was still in the window with the list of layer styles on the left (bevel and emboss, drop shadow, etc., and the "New Style" button on the right. I clicked on the "New Style" button and when another window popped up asking me to name the style, I named it. When I looked at my styles in the styles panel, I saw the little button for the new style. I saved my graphic and closed it. Later I wanted to apply this style to text in another graphic. The style was used on text originally. When I clicked on it though the style didn't look the same. Upon investigation, a couple of setting under Bevel and Emboss had reverted to defaults. They were different numbers when I saved the style. I could go back in and change these two numbers and get the same results, but I don't understand why these numbers changed on their own -- why the style didn't completely "save." Is there something I have done wrong, or is this some kind of bug? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Thank you very much for your reply! Yes, both documents were at 72 resolution. This morning I tried to save yet another style (same resolution document). It worked when I used it the first time. Then I switched to the other style I had saved. That one took some of the bevel and emboss settings from this morning's style. The numbers which will not save are the angle and altitude under the shading section. Just now I made another document (text at 72 resolution) and both styles had changed these numbers to 120 and 30. Is this something I am doing wrong? I am trying to use text of a similar font and size. I updated my software last night in the hopes that that would help. This morning I reset preferences. Don't know what to do! Thanks for helping me!

  • Where are contacts saved?

    Hi there,
This started off as a loss of all contacts from the address book, which has now turned into a curiosity of where exactly do the contacts get saved?
    I have removed the folder ~/Library/Applications Support/Address Book/
I have actually deleted this folder, logged out, logged back in again and found the address book restored with all contacts. From doing searches on the net everything points to this folder being the place where contacts are saved but obviously it is not. I have no sync service operating nor changed any defaults as this has all been done with a clean account.
So, where are contacts saved to?

It is probably being restored from the copy kept in SyncServices (in your Library/Application Support folder). Look in Local folder, and in the various folders there look at ClientName.txt. You will likely find that one of them is com.apple.AddressBook. Beyond that, I do not know the organisation of the various files within the Local folder, except that there is enough data there to restore a missing set of contacts.

That is, the ones that you create and then Save.
Also the default one which came along Acrobat Pro (i.e. Standard etc)
    Thanks

They are stored in the Acrobat User Preferences Area.  The same location is used for Pro, Standard, and Reader.  But the exact location is OS dependant.

  • Where are renditions saved?

    Hi!
    Where are renditions saved?
Do we create completely new folios (and all the articles in each folio) or are the different renditions of a folio and all the articles in them saved in the save folder?
    Thanks!
    CJ

But only for the DPS Professional or Enterprise level customers, according to Andrew.
    Is that correct?
If this is the case, then, the rest of us will have to know ahead of time what device a client is using and share (via the Folio Producer: Organizer or via the Folio Panel in InDesign) the specific "rendition" with the client.
Even, if a client wants to access the same folio on various devices, they will need, then, to make sure and download the right rendition invitation on the right device.
This is complicated. Hope it doesn't last too long…
    Thanks!

        pamalushka54,
We want to make sure that we get your phone up and running. Can you look to see where you have the most stuff stored at. Settings>General>Usage>Storage.
This will tell you what exactly is using everything. Then you can delete things from there.

  • Can't map keyboard shortcuts in Dreamweaver CS6 (Mac)

I am trying to modify the keyboard shortcuts in Dreamweaver CS6 on Mac to match the mappings I had for CS5.
I used Ctrl + Tab and Ctrl + Shift + Tab to switch between open documents. When I trry to set this in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog it ignores my input. I tried to modify it in menu.xml (which already had this set, presumably because it copied it from CS5), but it still doesn't appear in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog or work when I press the keys.

I've just done some testing, and can confirm that Dreamweaver CS5.5 on a Mac (UK keyboard) allows you to assign Ctrl+Tab to that keyboard shortcut. But it won't accept it on Dreamweaver CS6.
I've no idea why that should be so. It's probably an internal change to something else that has affected it, and nobody noticed during testing because it's not common to change an existing keyboard shortcut to something else.
I suggest that you file a bug report through the form at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform. Reports filed through that form go directly to the program team.
I can understand your frustration, but please remember that most of the people answering questions here, including myself, are not Adobe employees.

  • Where are the MetaData Templates located in PS C6 on a Mac?

Where are the MetaData Templates located in PS C6 on a Mac that you can add your contact and copyright information to?
On a Windows machine they are located in Owner/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/XMP.  I have some templates that I want to copy from a Windows laptop over to a Macbook Pro.
    Thanks, Bill

I’m on Mac OS 10.6.8 and there it seems to be
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Metadata Templates
I think as of OS 10.7 Macintosh hides the Library, but one can get there by alt-clicking the Go-menu and selecting it from there … or something.

  • Can't use the keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop CS6 when updating Mavericks

Can't use the keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop CS6 when updating Mavericks

Thanks everyone. What worked for me was a version of the suggestions above. I had the problem with the ≠ character appearing in all my Photoshop CS6 keyboard shortcuts and rendering them largely unusable. However, I don't have any other keyboards besides US English enabled on my Mac. I do have Spell Catcher installed, which works through the keyboard input method. So, I switched from Spell Catcher back to English (with the US flag), launched Photoshop and presto, my keyboard shortcuts were restored, absent that obnoxious ≠ symbol. Once in Photoshop, if I reselect Spell Catcher, the ≠ symbol returns so I have to run Photoshop without the help of Spell Catcher - or forego the use of keyboard shortcuts while it's on. Since the developer of Spell Catcher passed away last year there will be no more updates to the otherwise very useful utility. Apparently this keyboard shortcut problem in the various guises reported here is linked to some element of the OS X input method in Mavericks, as Photoshop seems to manifest the issue in relation to one specific input source or another. This is the first application in my experience to have a problem with Spell Catcher in OS X 10.9. So I will continue to use it, except in Photoshop. Spell Catcher was never updated for Mountain Lion or Mavericks so people like me will have to use it "at our own risk" as the saying goes. Be that as it may, it does appear to be a bug in Photoshop that's at the root of this matter as different people have somewhat different problems with the OS X input method - not that I expect either Adobe or Apple to do anything about it.

  • Illustrator CS6 Crashing on Mac

I am not an everday user of illustrator, but I started having trouble with it crashing yesterday which is probably the first time I've used illustrator in a month or so.  Here are the 4 scenarios I had after multiple attempts to open, create, or edit a file.
    1. Spinning wheel of death when I try to open a file
    2. Spinning wheel of death when I try to create a new file
    3. Spinning wheel of death when I am lucky enough to far enought along to click file/new and get the pop up screen and change "print" to "web"
    4. Spinning wheel of death when I try to use "image trace" when I manage to get that far.
There are a few more scenarios, but I the short answer is that I have more lock ups and have to force quit then I can get work done.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Uninstall illustrator (with preferences checked) and re-install
    2. Called Adobe help desk and they walked me through locating the Adobe CS6 preferences Settings file.  They had me delete "en_US" and it worked like a champ.  No issues until I closed illustrator and opened it up again later today.  Now I have the same issues as before.
    System info :
         Mac Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.3
         3.2 GHz intel core i3
4 GB 1333MHz DDR3 (thinking of upgrading to 8GB Ram, but I don't think that is the issue since I just getting the spinning wheel of death that I let go for 20 minutes one time while I was on a client call)
Stand alone system and it happens even if no other programs are running.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this othere that deleting the "en_US" file every time I want to use illustrator?
    Thanks in adavace,
    Rob

I have nearly the exact same issue. I'm a regular user of Illustrator and have never had this issue until the cs6 update. It seems that some files open fine, with no lag, and others I get the wheel of death for 20-30 minutes and then it will open.
The weird thing is, sometimes when I sleep my computer while the wheel of death is up and then resume, it seems to catch and start working. But, this is a huge pain to do to open a file. I've tried reinstalling, deleting prefs, permission repairs, etc with temporary success.
I think it is a AI memory issue because while this is happening, I notice that illustrator is VERY slowly eating up my HD space, but after my sleep fix, it quickly eats up several GB of space and then loads as it should.
Please help, I've been spending hours a day just trying to open file and do basic illustrator actions.
I know it isn't my hardware because this is the second newer model machine this has happened on, and the machine I'm on now is pretty pimped out.
    Specs:
    MacBook Pro 15" 2012 model.
    2.6 ghz quad core i7 with 16gb 1600MHz DDR3 ram
    512 SSD
1Gb dedicated video card w intel video

  • Illustrator cs5 selecting issue in mountain lion

I'm having a strange issue using illustrator cs5 after updating to mountain lion. I have a line of text that I rotated and copied several times so it resembles an asterisc shape * (3 lines of type fanned out over a central point). When I select 1 line of type, 2 or more lines are selecting. It happens even if I try to click in an empty area of the file (white space). The kicker is that it even happens in outline view (even in the white space). Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

Not sure what is happening, but a workaround might be to put each line of type on its own layer, then lock and/or hide layers you don't want to select.

  • Error compiling Illustrator CS6 plugin on Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite)

    Hi @all,
if i try to compile a Illustrator (CS6) plugin on Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite) and use the MacOS 10.5 SDK, I get the following error:
    /MySDKPath/Illustrator/cs6/illustratorapi/pica_sp/SPFiles.h:84:9: error: mac68k
alignment pragma is not supported on this target
    #pragma options align=mac68k
Did anybody know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards

I'm surprised there's a 68K setting at all, given that CS6 had been on Intel architecture for so long. Have you had any luck since then?
I tried compiling the sample AI6 plugins with OS X 10.8 (I think) and it worked fine, although I wasn't able to make any headway because the loss of ADM made for a very, very steep learning curve. Anyway, fast-forward a couple of years and I have time again to give this another shot, hoping to use Xcode to build a Mac interface, but I'm having a different puzzling error. I'm on a late 2012 iMac now with Yosemite 10.10.3. I downloaded Xcode 5.1.1 and am using that (after my system automatically updated to Xcode 6) and am getting an error:
    Carbon.h file not found
Is it just not possible to compile for CS6 under Yosemite?
I'd really, really appreciate any suggestions.
    Rick

  • Keyboard shortcuts in Illustrator CS4

I have tried to customise keyboard shortcuts in CS4 but each time I quit I lose all settings. (they work fine til I quit). I have saved new sets, overwritted previous sets but they dont seem to save. What am I doing wrong.
Otherwise, speaking as a recent convert from Freehand, CS4 is wonderful now multiple pages have been added

We are experiencing the same problem in Illustrator CS4. We have saved a custom keyboard shortcut set only to have some of the shortcuts revert back when Illustrator is restarted. We have cleared the shortcut for "Reselect" and assigned command-6 to "Select Same Fill". The shortcut works fine until we quit Illustrator the the shortcut reverts back to "Reselect".
