Where do I put this remote??
I have a completely silly question. I am the proud new owner of a DV4-1435dx, and it came with a small simple remote. I'm wondering if there is a slot in the computer I can stick this in for safekeeping? From what I've read, there seems to be one, but I can't figure this out. Please help!

on my laptop (dv4-1222nr) theres a thing that covers the remote slot on the left side of the laptop. its right above the cardreader. push in then it should pop out. then that thingy is either garbage or keep it. personally id keep it. but thats were the remote goes

I want to create a "Play All" chapter marker that will play the video from start to finish in addition to the standard chapters I have…I guess I can auto start the DVD but would prefer a button…how and where would I put this "play all" marker?? Thanks..
The start chapter button is a play the whole movie button regardless of how many other markers you have.
Once a DVD starts playing it continues to the end.
Chapters marker simply gives the viewer a place to start playback whether it be the start, middle or near the end.

How do you start your window manager, and which window manager / desktop environment are you using?
If you are using startx, you could invoke it from your ~/.xinitrc. You might create a second scipt, launch it in the background, and put a sleep at the beginning to ensure X is ready.
KDE, Openbox and Xfce4 allow you to run scripts at start up. Gnome might, I would not know. -

Mighty Mouse Question (I don't know where else to put this)
I bought a MacBook about two months ago, had some problems, had it replaced, and have loved it ever since.
But now I'm having some trouble with my Mighty Mouse that I bought at the same time as the MacBook. Last night, the scroll bar stopped working. Not completely, but it only will scroll down, and not up. This morning I tried it again, and it didn't work. I also tries using it in my sister's laptop, a PC, and it had the same problem. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem, now.
My question is: can I get a replacement, or am I going to have to buy a new one? They're not cheap mice, and it's not like it's old or anything. Also, if anyone has any magical ways to fix it, that'd be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.I had the same problem with the Mighty Mouse. After two months of aggravation, my boyfriend took it apart to see what the problem was. It's actually glued together, rather than just snapping back in place. We figured out that the problem was that the ball got dirty (as they all do), but because the Mighty Mouse bottom piece is actually glued to the mouse, we weren't able to put it back together properly, even with glue. So, now the Mighty Mouse (after only two months of use) in the electronic recycling box and we are using a generic mouse. We had wanted to buy a wireless Mighty Mouse (love the placement of the scrolling ball), but if you can't take it apart to clean the rolling ball and it stops working, then it is simply bad design.

Best keyboard and mouse for typesetting and design (not sure where else to put this)
So, we got a new Mac Pro. I don't think this keyboard is going to work so well for typesetting. Too little travel on the keys I think. And the wireless mouse.... it's OK but I definitely need something different.
Pros and Cons
Apple keyboard: Pros - The function keys at the top for controlling audio, ejecting the CD tray, screen brightness etc.
Cons - You have to hold the "fn" key and hit F12 to get to the Widgets. Didn't have to do that with our G5 keyboard. Metal body.... I'm CONSTANTLY shocking myself on this thing from the static of the carpet. Key travel.... they don't go down very far. Not sure if that is desirable or not.
Magic Mouse: Pros - Multitouch surface is nice for moving left and right when zoomed in on something or moving an image around. The other multitouch gestures are pretty cool as well. It's wireless, that's nice. Havent had one of those before.
Cons - It just feels like crap in my hand. It doesn't have the standard "hump" that most mice have to fill up your hand.

Not true. The setting reverses the function of the Fn key. So to adjust brightness you have to press "Fn + F1/F2", and without Fn it does what F1 ought to do. (Barring what John says; the system takes precedence in stealing functions.)
There is no way to get what you want: both sets of functions at once. Perhaps you could have a custom keyboard made, with two rows of function keys. (In the Good Ol' Days of WordPerfect 5, you could buy a custom keyboard with four rows of function keys, one for each of "Plain", "Alt", "Shift", and "Control" modifiers. Only for the truly lazy, too wary to press-and-hold a modifier key for a quarter of a second.) -
MSN for Mac Issue (Don't know where else to put this)
I took a picture using photobooth, and tried to use it as my MSN display picture. It always says it doesn't work make sure its the right format, but my friend has an iMac and it works for him fine. Is it something to do with the MacBook Pro or something, and if you know how to fix this please tell me...

Anybody know where to get Canon large format paper? (Not sure where else to put this)
We have a canon iPF720, 36" wide printer. We were getting 190gsm 36" x 100' from Amazon but apparently that has been discontinued and replaced with 200gsm. I can't seem to find 200gsm on Amazon so I've been looking around and I can't find any. We need some in a hurry. West coast would be best for faster shipping. Anybody have any ideas on places I can call or check their website?
Haven't gotten back here to say yet... but I got it to work with InDesign.
Downloaded the driver and figured out the goofy driver settings from within the ID print window and printed out a poster. Worked like a charm. Soooooo happy. I don't have to deal with that crappy Canon PosterArtist software and I don't have to save the files as a JPG and convert to some PC to be able to print from that PosterArtist software. STOKED! -

The Lightroom was purchased through an organisation that is why I have a licence number. I have e-mailed the organisation, but of course they haven't got back to me yet.
I can open my software as it is asking me for a serial number which I don't seem to have as it wouldn't accept the codes on the box.

Where should I put JDBC driver for MySQL
I am trying to connect MySQL with JDBC 2.0 API. I have downloaded the driver file mm.mysql-2.0.4-bin. Where should I put this driver to make it run ?
According to mysql.org, it says "Put mysql.jar in your classpath". I am confuse by classpath. Is it same as the path ? or is another system variable.

Where do we put common JARS in enterprise/web applications

Could someone please advice me as to a good/best way to handle this scenario:
1. an EAR contains a bunch of web applications, which have to use a common archive of classes, like an XML parser for instance. Where can i put this JAR? the brute way would be to put in the WEB-INF/lib of every web-app, but...?

deepakWell... depends I suppose on your container. We use IBM's Websphere... and we have several EAR's that contain a half dozen or so dependant JARs... we "import" them into the EAR, and then whoever must have access to these dependencies references the EAR's path in the "Java Buildpath" and "Module Dependencies"
The dependant JARs are just put into the root directory of the whatever EAR we happen to be dealing with.
The trick is in whatever resource (i.e. EJB) is making sure that its MANIFEST is aware of the location of the dependant JARs, which IBM's Websphere Application Developer Studio handles all that stuff for you.
