Where do the Management Pack Files go once you import them

Hello
Hopefully this is a simple question, I may just be missing some thing obvious
I have SCOM 2007 R2
When I download and run the MSI to unpack he MP, I understand where it extract the files. I then go to SCOM Console and Import the MP, not problems so far.
However I would expect the MP import process to also place a copy of the MP in the "C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007" folder. However on several occasion when I have needed to point/find a Management Pack for various reasons, the
MP or MPs do not appear to be in this folder. I guess I could always go back to the location where the MP is extracted from the MSI and reference them there. However I thought they should all reside in the "C:\Program Files\System
Center Operations Manager 2007" folder as a matter of course.
Any advice, most welcome please
Thanks

Hi AanotherUser,
It depends on a management pack, some of them place a copy of .mp files to C: drive, some don't.

  • How do i bring the management pack to data warehouse?

I have been working with Service Manager a lot but this is my first custom management pack in SCOM.
What i am trying to do is Create two classes and create a relationship. Data will be entered in these classes using PowerShell. This classes should be brought to Data Warehouse as well. There is no discovery or monitoring involved. I have sealed the the
    ManagementPack.
I created the class and relationship and imported the management pack in SCOM console. Import was successful and i can see the tables are created in the OperationsManager database but i don't see them in the data warehouse.
I don't see any place from where i can force sync the management packs.
Is there something special i have to do to bring these classes to data warehouse?

    Hi
scom will not create table for MP in DW. DW is intended for store result of monitors and rules like alerts, performance data, event id,...etc  for reporting.
refer below link for more information.

  • Changing the Management Pack extensions or items are stored in

I think I know the answer to this but I will ask it anyway. Is it possible to change the Management Pack an extension or an object such as a Queue or Subscription is stored in?
Reason I ask is the person that was maintaining SM before me stored every single form extension, subscription, queue and view etc...in the same Management Pack. I really don't like this particular setup and I am sure its not best practice. I plan to break
out all the above and possibly more into separate newly created Management Packs, like a separate one for Views, a separate one for Subscriptions etc.... Is the only solution to delete the existing item and create a new one with the same details including
    the display name?

You can, but not as easily as you would like.
Essentially, what you would need to do is split up the the XML by hand, making sure to sort out the DisplayStrings sections to the correct components. Export out the "main" MP, cut out a section of XML that represents the form extension, paste
it into a new file with a new name, add a reference to the new MP to the main MP, and replace all references to that object with MP Aliases to that object's new home. Import both the new MP and the reduced "main" MP back into the database.
    there are two problems thou:
Some objects, like projections (used in form extensions created by the authoring too) and class extensions should only ever be stored in sealed MPs, because removing them causes data that reference them to be invalid, i.e. properties defined in class extensions
are lost if that class extension is removed and re-added, and templates that depend on projections are inaccessable if the projection they are based on is lost.
some atomic SDK objects, like workflows, consist of several non-consecutive XML sections, meaning you would need to trace the references and identify which of many <Rule> and <Action> sections belonged with which workflows, and make sure they
would all end up in the same MP.
now you could do this slowly, pulling sections out of the "main" MP and replacing them with references over various nightly downtimes, exporting the "main" MP and carving out a few objects, then importing the trimmed down "main"
MP and the new single use MP until you had something resembling best practice functional isolation (all Change request notification over here, all service request workflows over there, etc), and the hollowed out husk of your "main" MP as a miscellaneous
container, but i think you'll find that you still have to face and deal with data loss and breakage, potentially a lot more trouble then it's worth.
Given that, i would instead propose that you give up on correcting sins of the past, and start doing it right now. start setting up your new MPs and put new thingss into them, and while you're working, anything that you can easily rebuild. Make a plan to
rebuild your templates and form customization. start identifying class extensions you'll have to rebuild, and work up a plan to export data defined by them somewhere (probably powershell and CSV) so you can restore it when the classes are restored.
Like most data hygine problems, there isn't an easy bulk application answer. you just have to look at everything and clean it up as you go. you can mix salt and sugar quite easily. UNmixing them is a lot more work.

  • Just where ARE the site definition files?

I've just received CS4.  I want to move it to my more powerful laptop when I install it.  I know how to do that and I can move site files, but where are the site definition files?  I really don't want to have to set up each site from scratch.  Is there one (or more) files that are the name, url, location, id, password etc for each of the (many) sites in CS3?
    don Carlos

To import/export site definitions (not site files):
    On the old computer:
    Site > Manage Sites
Shift click to highlight all site names
    Export..
Same procedure on new computer then Import..

  • Where are the actual Aperture files located? Only in the application? I am transitioning to Lightroom and would like to only move some of the files. Advice appreciated. Also anyone know how to transfer in with edits?

Where are the actual Aperture files located? Only in the application? I am transitioning to Lightroom and would like to only move some of the files. Advice appreciated. Also anyone know how to transfer in with edits? Using iMac, OS X, most recent Aperture and Lightroom 5.7 with plugin for Aperture.

    Define "the Aperture files".
    Read this concise guide.
The files you imported into an Aperture Library can be exported (at any time, and repeatedly) using the command "File ▹ Export ▹ Originals".  Your Originals are never altered.  What went in is what comes out.
Adjustments and changes to the metadata that you made since creating an Image in Aperture by importing a file are saved to a text file.  This file is combined, on-the-fly, with the Original to create the Image that you see in Aperture.  There is no file saved to disk that is the full-size Image.  Thumbnails are saved, and Previews are saved.  These are JPG files, almost always smaller than the Original.  They are not substitutes for the Image for the use you have.
When you need a file of an Image to use in another program, you export the Image from Aperture.  "Export" means "Make me a file of this Image according to these file specs I'm providing".  The way to get files of your adjusted Images is simple:  create them by exporting.  Specify "Original size", and use a loss-less image-file format (e.g. TIFF 16-bit) if you want to retain as much visual information as possible.
Search the Web for information about transitioning from Aperture to Lightroom.  Note that I say "transitioning".  You cannot move a database from one format to another without significant changes, and likely some loss of information.  Adobe provides a tool and some instructions.  I strongly recommend working out the process step-by-step, and then proceeding with first a few Images, then a bushel-ful, and stopping to use the first few, the the bushel-ful, before committing your entire collection to the process.
As always, never use any computer file without having a back-up.
We have seen mixed reports here of the success of the LR tool that creates a LR database from your Aperture database.
If you want to carefully define the process, and test and refine it, use the excellent process-development, analysis, and execution program inShort.
Sadly, there is not and can never be a good, thorough re-positioning of the digital assets in your Aperture Library to become digital assets in a LR database.  Just as a metaphor for any user contemplating transitioning to another digital asset manager:  that would be like digging up a house in one country, planting it in a hole in another country, and expecting to be able to use the toilet and the sinks, turn on the lights, cook dinner, and sleep soundly.
    HTH,
    Kirby.

    Hi Lindsay0810,
If you are having charging issues with your iPad, you may find the following article helpful. In particular, if you are having recurring beeps from your iPad when charging, you may want to check you cable connections and possibly try another cable/charger if available to see if the issue persists.

  • SMC - "The management domain file...does not exist"

    Hi All,
Just a quickie to see if anyone has seen this and has any pointers to getting out of it...
Solaris 10 u5 x86. Machine has got SRSS4.0 running on it, the only other modification is CUPS is running in favour of the Solaris lp stuff (got instructions for this off a BigAdmin article).
Anyways, I use SMC to manipulate user/group stuff on the local machine. SMC launches just fine, and I can gather System Information, view logs, disk configuration, processes etc. However, when attempting to do any user/group/role stuff management, I authentication with root role, click on the relevant panel, and get this:
"The management server cannot perform the operation requested.
If this problem persists, refer to the Log Viewer for additional information and contact your Sun Microsystems support provider.
    The actual error reported was:
The management domain file:/shadowfire/127 does not exist or cannot be managed on server shadowfire."
The behaviour is consistent. Gee, it was running fine before, AFAIK...
Any pointers to what may have come unstuck gratefully appreciated, as always :)
    Dave

I came across the same problem late July almost same day - on a brand new M4000 server with Solaris 10. I use an X-windows client to connect in and open Common Desktop Environment as "root". Then when I invoke SMC it works for everything except trying to open User Maintenance - then I get the error above.
I came across something quite by accident whilst I was being advised to make edits to /etc/hosts (which I dont think made a difference anyway so I wont mention them)
If I use my X-Windows client and open Common Desktop Environment as an ordinary user (say "joe") - then invoke SMC from the menu - when asked by the SMC utility to provide a logon then (as you would) enter the root username and password, guess what ! - I could open the User Maintenance icon without the error appearing and make changes and save them.
Funny how a less privileged user than root invoking CDE seems to provide a basis to get the option to work! I still get the error by using CDE as root
    Wanna Try it?

In J2SDK 1.5 beta, where is the swing.properties file.
The file is supposed to be located in <Java Home>/lib/ but it is not there.

I'm not sure about 1.5, but normally there isn't one. The defaults are just used unless there is one.

Where do the MEDIA FILES live after I import them from camera to iMovie (Mac Mini OS X 10.9.2)?  I need to MOVE MEDIA FILES to external hard drive.

    Hello bbryson68,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand you're wanting to move iMovie project and event data to another drive.  I found the following information in the iMovie help that answers your question.
Copy or move projects, events, or clips between libraries or storage devices
Connect a storage device that contains the target library to your Mac, or copy the target library to your Mac.
Choose File > Open Library, and choose an option from the submenu. You can choose from recently opened libraries, locate an existing library on your Mac, or create a new library. The selected library is opened in the Libraries list, with the first event selected and its contents displayed in the browser.
In the Libraries list, select the event that contains the item you want to move or copy.
In the browser, select the item you want to move or copy.Tip:  To select multiple clips or projects in the same library, hold down the Command key as you click the items you want to select, or drag a selection rectangle around the items.
    Do one of the following:
To move items between events or libraries: Drag the clip or project to another event or library.
To copy items between events or libraries: Option-drag the clip or project to another event or library by first starting to drag and then holding down the Option key as you drag.
    Work with multiple libraries
