Why would you need version 7.0?
If you need 7.0 and describe it as a later version, then your iTunes is way out of date. What is it that you think stops you from using the latest version, which is what Apple always recommend?

You mean file Microsoft Excel .xls, xlsx, etc.?
If you mean such file, then Yes. I just download them and open with an app like “OfficeSuite” or “Polaris Office for” (There are problems with charts(graphics), but "data tables" seems to be “simplified” but all OK).
When I try to upload (“drag and drop” from PC to tablet), I have a warning on PC “that this file would be not compatible”. Just click on "Yes" to copy file.
Anyway, there’re many other “xls file reader” apps.

You can't. Excel is a commercial product sold by Microsoft in an Office "package" and not as a stand-alone product.
If you need to be able to open and save Excel documents on your Mac, however, you could try the free LibreOffice.

Kappy's link above now goes to Office 365, the subscription based verion of Office. Indeed that is newer than Office for Mac 2011, which is offered on the link I provided above. But Microsoft still sells either version. They are quite different in that you would own Office for Mac 2011, while Office 365 is subscription based, and can be used on more than one machine.

Firefox won't open; tried all I found on this site; can't get in to disable add-ons.

Firefox will not open. Little wheel spins, then disappears. Nothing.
Re-started computer - several times.
Reinstalled Firefox. Nothing. Can't open in Admin. Can't open with double click or with right-click "Open".
Many fixes on this site suggest going to the Firefox button to disable add-ons - of which I have few - however since Firefox won't start, I can't try these options.
Can't get to my profile. (Have not changed my profile or add-ons for ages.)
This seems to have happened right after the most recent update.
I've read everything I can find on this website and other places, and can't make it work.
Can't find old Firefox on program list, thus can't uninstall old version - perhaps this occurred automatically with new Firefox download?.
Ran Spybot and deleted some adware and mal-ware. Still nothing. Ran Microsoft Security - nothing.
I'm running Windows 7.
I can't open the troubleshooting file offered below.

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

As Kappy has said, you can download Office for Mac 2011 from the Microsoft website at http://www.microsoft.com/mac
This can be done right away under their free 30 day trial offer.
Assuming that you then want to keep the software by buying a properly licenced version, you can take your time and shop around during those 30 days to find the same version (ie Home and Student or Home and Business) at the cheapest available price.
Good sources for discounts will vary depending upon where you're based, but Amazon (.com / .co.uk) is often a good place to try. You can then simply enter the licence code from your purchased product to fully activate the version that you've already downloaded as a trial.

Can't download microsoft updates

For about a year my G4 OS 10.4.11, has had increasing difficulty updating Word 2004. I really need to download the office 2008 docx converter and both safari and firefox fail to download this or any software from Microsoft. They start the download then quickly display a "can't find the server" message. I use AT&TI dsl for internet, but have seen other post reporting this problem with Comcast as well. I have yet to see an answer for this curious problem. I have no problem downloading anything except Microsoft updates. (I have also failed to download these updates from Version Tracker.)

Thank you Carolyn & Baltwo. I could download the versiontracker/dyn converter, but I'm still unable to download any updates from Microsoft to my G4. For others out there, I was able to download the Office 2004 Mac updates and Microsoft's Docx converter on my daughters intel Macbook. I copied this software to a flash drive and then loaded and installed it on my G4. The downloads were accomplished with my AT&T DSL connection, so I assume my problem downloading Microsoft updates must be specific to the G4. I will pursue Baltwo's forum advice and post anything I find.
