Where is jar?

I downloaded and installed j2se14, but there is no jar application in the bin folder. Does anyone know where I can download jar and javac applications?

Don't know what you are looking for or expecting to find. There are no jar files in the JavaHome\bin directory. The directory does contain the jar.exe and javac.exe tools. Try again, please

  • Where are jar files downloaded to with Applet?

    I have an Applet and am using archive attribute in my applet tag to specify jar files needed by the applet. eg: "archive=myclassfiles.jar, foo.jar". Assume that myclassesfiles.jar has classes needed by the Applet and Foo.jar has some text files or xml files. Assume that Applet is signed.
    My question: I am assuming that all jar files are downloaded to the client when the Applet is started. Is this correct? If so, how can I open and read Foo.jar file within the Applet? I dont know the path to that file, that is, I dont know where on the client that Jar file has been downloaded to. Would the following work:
    URL aUrl = (new File("Foo.jar")).toURL();
    String path = aUrl.toString();
    would path point to the correct location of Foo.jar?

    They are downloaded to the client, and stored in a cache. I'm not sure they are readable from within the applet, however. But there are 2 solutions, depending on what you are doing.
    1) You want to get some images or other resources from the Jar file. Then do this:
    URL url = appletClass.getClass().getResource("myimage.jpg");
    ImageIcon icon = new ImageIcon(url);
    where appletClass is the applet object, and the resource ("myimage.jpg" is the relative path to the image in the Jar file.
    2) You want to muck around with the Jar (read it). Well you can't write to it that easily in an applet, as you can't access the file system without a signed applet, or you would have to POST it back to the web server via HTTP file upload. But if you want to just read it and get stuff out of it, you can always just do this:
    URL url = new URL(getDocumentBase(), "foo.jar");
    and then open the URLConnection for that URL and read the Jar in.

  • Where install JAR libraries on Oracle server

    I have a little problem (of course) to put my libraries (*.jar) on the Oracle server.
    In witch directory on the Oracle server I must deposit Jar libraries to be used by my Java stored developments ?
    For example, my Java stored development use "fop.jar" and "xercesImpl-2.7.1.jar" and I don't want stored this libraries into the Oracle user (with loadJava command) ?

  • How to know the dir where my jar program is stored

    I write a swing editor text files.
    I make the jar of my program: Editor.jar
    Then with jsmooth (open source java wrapper) i make the exe: Editor.exe.
    The user can put the exe anywhere in a folder and use it, example:
    User have a text file on desktop and want to open it:
    User make a double click on file.txt --> Microsoft Windows Xp open my program and load the file.
    All work correctly but there is one problem.
    My program Editor.exe when is close make a Editor.properties file. I would like this file to be created in the same dir where Editor.exe is stored.
    I don't know how to do this thing. I write this code:
    public static void save(Properties propertiesFile) {     URL jarURL = (PropertiesFile.class.getClassLoader().getResource("."));          FileOutputStream out;     System.out.println("dir \n" + jarURL.getFile());          File f = new File(jarURL.getFile()+"Editor.settings");     try {          out = new FileOutputStream(f);                    propertiesFile.store(out, "Program settings");          out.close();     } catch (IOException ioe) {          ioe.printStackTrace();     }}
    This code is wrong because jarURL.getFile() is the directory where file.txt is stored but i want the dir where Editor.exe is stored.
    I try with this line of code:

    i get this dir:

  • Where's  the jar cache in Discoverer 10.1.2?

    Hi friends.. I'm trying to tind where the jar cache directory .. but I can't locate it...
    Not in my Windows PC..(by the way.. I haven't a jcache directory in my Program Files/Oracle/Jinitiator 1.3.1.31 folder), I mean in apps Linux server...
    Any ideas?
    I suppose that when notes talk about clear/delete jar cache directory for Discoverer they don't mean the COMMON_TOP/... directory... but i don't know exactly.
    Thanks,
    Jose L.

    Jose,
    The jar cache will be in the individual PC and will depend upon if you are using the Jinitiator or Sun JVM.
    Discoverer 10g uses Sun JVM by default unless you have configured Jinitiator.
    Any easy way to check is: Navitagate to: Start >> Control Panel >> Java (for SunJVM) >> General tab >> settings button (under Temporary Internet files)
    It will be something like (for 1.5 plugin)
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache
    Similar steps for Jinitiator, but it will be under the 'cache' tab
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Oracle Jar Cache
    You can also search your PC for files to fine the location.
    disco5i.jarjar*
    If a note tells you to clear the jar cache, then it is on the client PC.
    I had an old MetaLink note 367389.1 bookmarked that has some navigation steps and screen shots for you.

  • Jar with gif's

    Hi everyone,
    I'm having a problem when trying to run a stand-alone application from a jar file.
    I have a single class Main (no package) and it uses several gif files that are loaded with "new ImageIcon("file.gif"). all is fine until I create a jar (with "jar cvfm Main.jar manifest.mf *), all files are archived (incliding gif's), but as soon as I delete gif's from the directory where my jar file is located, they are not loaded.
    I tried changing loading mechanism to "new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource("file.gif"))", but that does not help.
    Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Thanks everyone, it works fine now.
    Some comments:
    Generally you need the full classpath (e.g., "/com/package/file.gif"). >Since you say you don't have a package, try adding a leading slash:
    new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource("/file.gif"));That did not work;
    And thank you jwurst;
    So that's how I did it:
    Image img=Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage(getClass().getResource("file.gif"));

  • How to create an object of a class contained in a .jar?

    My application must use an API that is stored in a jar file. For example, in my Api.jar I have classes named Api, MyClass2, MyClass3, which have their methods declared public static.
    I don't know from where to start realy. This is what I did:
    I set the CLASSPATH to where my jar is. In my project properties, I added the jar as the first required library.
    If in the java class where I am calling a Api.method1() I import my class with 'import MyClass1;', I get the error: "Error #: 361 : class required, but identifier found at line 20, column 1". Of course, if I don't import it, I get another error: "Class Api not found"
    Is this problem caused by the fact that my jar's name is the same with one of the classes zipped in it?
    How to solve the problem?!? I read all the documentation regarding jars, I didn't come to a better understanding :( Can anyone provide me a sample with the use of a jar? Thank you!

    Do your classes have a state their package?
    Don't forget your Jar files manifest must also state its package. This is my problem - I am using a third party .jar file, which contains 3 classes not included in any package (practically they are only zipped into a .jar). I don't know how to access them...

  • Add jar files and use those classes at the runtime

    Hi All,
    I need to add some jar files at the runtime depends on which the user selects where the jar file is located and i need to import those classes in other class for some functionalities . I could add jar files by using the URLClassLoader and Class.forName("myjar.myclassname") is also succeeded and i have no clue how to use those classes with in the jar file as i couldn't import those classes also in the source because the jar files are being added at the runtime(This leads to class not found exception at the compile time).
    I had found a complicated way of using those classes after being added at the run time as below.
       Class clazz = Class.forName(myClass);
                final Method method = clazz.getDeclaredMethod(requiredMethod, new Class[]{URL.class});
                final Object returned = method.invoke(clazz.newInstance(), new Object[]{request}); but, its really pain to use in this way in all the places.
    Does any of you have simpler suggestions on how to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Venky.

    Thanks jschell. Yes, you are right. I had found that using reflection API is the only way to load classes at the run time. But according to our application using reflection makes the application little complex, so while start of the application or during other modifications, i am overwriting my jar file to the latest one using FileChannel class as below
          FileChannel ic = new FileInputStream("new.jar").getChannel();
          FileChannel oc = new FileOutputStream("old.jar").getChannel();
          ic.transferTo(0, ic.size(), oc);
          ic.close();
          oc.close();After this code is executed, our application totally uses the new jar file.It is little fast than using reflection. Is this a good idea?

  • Splash screen with progress bar and multiple jar files to load

    Hello,
    I have been looking to the new features in java 6 for splash screens. I haven't implemented this never before and i was wondering how i could do the following with java 1.5 or 6:
    I would like to see a splash screen with a progress bar that "grows" when every jar file has been read.
    At this time i call my application like this from a shell script:
    exec "$JAVA_BIN" -Djava.library.path=$LIBRARIES_J3D -classpath xxxx.jar yyyy.jar zzzz.jar ...
    where xxx.jar, yyy.jar and zzz.jar are very heavy jars.
    So i would like to see in the progress bar 33% 66% and 100% when they are loaded.
    I do not know if this is the right forum to ask for this. If no, please point me which would be the ideal one.
    Any help will be very useful. Thanks to all!

  • Jar files downloaded from SkyDrive are being renamed to jar.zip files

    I have cut and pasted the following series of exchanges from when I posted the problem onto SkyDrive's support forum. I hope that someone might be able to propose a better solution to the problem that I have. Thanks for your help.
    MDSms asked on
    Uploaded jar files convert to jar.zip files when downloaded from SkyDrive
    I have uploaded an executable jar file to SkyDrive. (I will call this FILE.jar). The file is intact and indicates that it is a jar file type when the file is viewed by Properties within Skydrive. However, when I download (or others download through a share link) the file, it is being saved onto the local computer's download file with .zip appended to the file name (FILE.jar.zip). The downloaded file can be renamed to remove the .zip appendage and subsequently run successfully. However the folder options for the folder where the downloaded file resides must be changed for disable "Hide known file extensions" prior to being able to remove the .zip appendage. While I have figured out the workaround for this problem, this manual renaming procedure is entirely too cumbersome as a solution for sharing this file with others. How can I prevent or disable the FILE.jar file from being renamed to FILE.jar.zip when it is downloaded from SkyDrive?

    The file was uploaded by first logging onto my SkyDrive account using Windows 7 Pro and Firefox browser, then a new folder in my account was created without sharing privileges, then the folder was opened and the FILE.jar was uploaded into the folder using the "Upload" option on skydrive account menu. Sharing privileges for FILE.jar were then created (view only), and the shortened url link was sent to the individuals that I was trying to share the file with. was then turned on. When these people use the link to download the file, it is being saved as FILE.jar.zip.
    When I try to download the file through the skydrive account download option, it is being saved onto my computer as FILE.jar.zip and this occurs when I try to download the file while signed into my skydrive account as well as when I am not signed into my skydrive account (using the shared file link).
    This PNG shows the information provided by clicking on the download icon (down arrow) within the Firefox browser; note that the file was downloaded as FILE.jar.zip and that the source was live.com. When I use Windows Explorer to look at the same file within the Download folder itself, examining the file's properties details also shows that it is being saved as FILE.jar.zip and is of the file type compressed zip folder.
    This PNG shows the information displayed to me from my skydrive account when I view the originally uploaded file's properties; note that the information shows that the file is a jar file type.
    When I utilize Internet Explorer 9 to access the file, FILE.jar is being downloaded onto my computer as a jar file type. This PNG shows the information provided by Tools/View Downloads within the IE9 browser. Note that in this instance, the information indicates that the file is being downloaded from yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    It appears to me that the problem (the FILE.jar file being renamed to FILE.jar.zip) arises from the fact that a jar file downloaded from skydrive using firefox, is being sent from live.com whereas a jar file downloaded from skydrive using IE9 is being sent from yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    I want to make sure that a person receiving a share link from me for FILE.jar is able to download it without modification to the file name regardless of which browser is being using to access the link. How can I make sure that this occurs?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi MDSms,
    I appreciate you for providing as much information as you can about the issue, as well as for uploading screenshots on what you see from the downloaded file. About your initial concern wherein the file gets renamed with .zip after the original file extension, this is solely dependent on the browser that you are using since they have a different safety/security measure that needs to be implemented.
    Moreover, you may see the file servers live.com and yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com to be different with one another, but they actually are sent from the same SkyDrive server. This in turn, depends on the web browser where the file is being downloaded as well. The live.com file where it was downloaded from Firefox simply masks its original server yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    As for your last query about your recipients downloading the file without the hassle of renaming it from a .zip file, you can simply tell them to download it through Internet Explorer.
    Should you have other queries or additional information that might help in our investigation, I highly encourage you to post them here.
    Regards,
    Michelle

    Michelle,
    Thanks for your reply. Yes, I could simply tell them to download the file through Internet Explorer, but is there another solution or workaround to the problem I have described here? Am I being punished with the curse of this problem simply because I (or the individuals with which I wish to share FILE.jar with) choose to use Firefox instead of IE? Will the use of any other browser instead of IE (Chrome, Safari, etc., etc.) still result in the same problem?
    You stated that it is "solely dependent on the browser that you are using since they have a different safety/security measure that needs to be implemented"........could the problem be overcome by designating one or both of the file server addresses as Trusted Sites within the browser options setting?
    I look forward to your response. Thanks in advance.

    Hi MDSms,
    We understand your concern. Since the issue does not occur in Internet Explorer, it has something to do with Firefox's security feature. You might want to verify this concern by contacting Firefox support.
    Hope this helps. Let us know if we can further assist you with SkyDrive.
