Where is my jar-file ?

I launch my application (jar-file) via webstart.
I would like to obtain the absolute file path of the jar-file
at runtime.
I am not sure in what directory it is cached by webstart.
I would have expected something in the reflection API to find out the jar-file at runtime but could not find something.

Hi,
it's kind of a hack, but you can use the Class#getResource method to retrieve the JarURL of some class (e.g. your main-class). Then you can parse the JarURL to retrieve the jar name. Not very beautiful, but it should be working.

  • Where are the jar files downloaded.

    When I run a javafx sample, the first time, it downloads so many jarfiles to a particular place on my box. When I run another sample, it downloads some other jar files, and I can bet some of the jar files downloaded by the previous sample are also downloaded by this sample, I am just thinking, if there is a central place where all downloads go to, then can we have an app check in that folder to see if a jar file is present before downloading it again??

    saHey trinisoftinc - I recommend you go investigate java webstart (jnlp). This behavior should not unique to JavaFX applications packed into jnlp but Java as well. I believe it's quite complex and I think Sun have done the right thing here. Duplication is better than potential inconsistencies between supposedly 'identical' jar's. Also, who really sign's jar's anyway.... not many... if any ;)

  • Where are the jar files added to a project listed?

    Hi Guys and Gals,
    This should be an easy one, and yes, I have searched google and the forums.
    My Master application/project uses task flows from other projects. These projects have been deployed to jar files, which are then added to my Resource Palette under the File System. From there, I may use these task flows in my Master project by clicking on their corresponding .jar file and selecting "Add to Project". However, where in the world are they listed?
    I would think they would be in Project Properties->Libraries and Classpath, but they are not.
    Using JDev 11.1.2.1.0.
    Befuddled,

    All ADFLibs are put into a lib named ADFLibrary. If you ADFLibs are dependent on other libs or jars you may see a lib 'ADF Dependend Libraries' which contain all secondary jars.

    If you are using Tuxedo 7.1 or 8 (or Tuxedo 6.x+Jolt), you should find
    it in joltjse.jar under $TUXDIR/udataobj/jolt.
    If you are using WLS 5.1, you should find in under
    $WL_HOME/classes/bea/jolt/pool or in the service pack jar.

  • Where to put jar files reachable for ejb:s?

    Hello!
    I have a ejb that use some jar files.
    But I can not figure out where to put the jar files that I use from my ejb in Weblogic 8.1.3.
    Until now I have extracted all jar files and put them inside my ejb with my own class files. But this seems odd.
    So please help me out here.
    Best regrads
    Fredrik

    Dear,
    You might have downloaded either tar.gz or zip file. when you extract this file you will find a jar file and also some demos nad docs(api+help). place the poifs api jar file in 'WEB-INF\lib" folder and restart the server.
    In general any api jar files for web applications should be placed in WEB-INF\lib folder then only they are accesible. If you extracted the jar, then place entire package structure in WEB-INF\classes directory

  • Where to find .jar files so I can implement import java.util.logging

    I'm trying to figure out how to take an application built for Websphere and port it to WebLogic. I've come across this blog entry http://blogs.sun.com/fkieviet/entry/using_java.util.logging_in_bea_weblogic and would like to try creating and using the startup class.
    I have not been able to find the correct jar files.
    import weblogic.common.T3ServicesDef;
    import weblogic.common.T3StartupDef;
    import weblogic.logging.LoggingHelper;
    In reading the documentation on using the NonCatalogLogger APIs at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/i18n/writing.html I also see some code calling for the following imports
    import weblogic.jndi.Environment;
    import weblogic.logging.NonCatalogLogger;
    1. Does anyone know where I can grab these?
    2. There must be a strategy for finding these .jars that people use. If so, what is it?

    I thought I understood you, but the more I look at what you've set here, I'll just be honest and admit that the I don't know what you are saying here:
    'You should be able to add the "weblogic.jar" in the WebLogic distribution to your classpath.' - What doe this mean?
    1. Go to my xxxWeb app Dynamic Web Project and right-click and select Build Path / Configure Build Bath / Libraries - Select Add external JARS and navigate to the weblogic.jar
    2. Go to my xxxWeb app Dynamic Web Project and right-click and select Build Path / Configure Build Bath / Libraries - Select Add Library and try to go from there?
    3. Go to my xxxWeb app Dynamic Web Project and right-click and select Build Path / Configure Build Bath / Libraries - Select Add Variable and try to go from there?
    4. Go to my xxxWeb app Dynamic Web Project and right-click and select Build Path / Configure Build Bath and do something else?
    5. Something else?
    Also, I don't know what you mean here:
    'You don't need to (and you shouldn't) copy that jar file, just have it in your compilation classpath. It will be present automatically at runtime.'
    Sorry for being so simple here but I've been trouble shooting why I can't follow what look like pretty simple steps to implement over-riding the ApplicationLifecycleListener Class to use existing java.util.logging.Logger code by adding the following to the the weblogic-application.xml:
    <wls:listener>
         <wls:listener-class>com.qualcomm.weblogic.log.listener.UtilLogWrapper</wls:listener-class>
    </wls:listener>
    And including as a referenced jar file, a simple POJO class instance of com.qualcomm.weblogic.log.listener.UtilLogWrapper.
    My resrouces for this are:
    1. http://blogs.sun.com/fkieviet/entry/using_java.util.logging_in_bea_weblogic.
    2. http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/drolet-ant.html.
    Maybe my weblogic.jar is at the root of the problem.
    I hope you can 'dumb this down' for me with a simple explanation of steps to do what you outlined above.

  • Where is SAPWidgetFoundation.jar file ?

    Hello,
    I downloaded SAP Widget Foundation from download site.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/d026c9ae-ab33-2a10-70be-dafcd3fc9a82 [original link is broken]
    In the User's Guide, it says to run SAPWidgetFoundation.jar.
    Where can I find this file ? It is not in the zip file downloaded.
    Thanks,
    Misae

    This is a lot like trying to build a watch with a sledgehammer. Well I finally found the .JAR file thanks for your help. "
    To be crystal clear I downloaded the "SAP Widget Foundation - zip file.zip"; and renamed it to "SAP Widget Foundation - zip file.jar";.
    (DO NOT make the mistake of trying to unzip this file. Because it will unzip and it does contain another "SAPWidgetFoundation.zip"; which will lead you down the wrong path, cost me 3 weeks)
    I tried to run the SAP Widget Foundation - zip file.jar.   Clicking on the file and even in a command prompt running "java -jar <path_to_SAPWIDGETFoundation.jar>;"  did not produce any results so in re-reading the instructions you notice a certain version of Java is required on your desktop, Java 1.6 or higher. To verify this I went to www.java.com and there is a button on this page to check the version on your desktop. My check showed that is was running an old version. So i clicked to down load and install the current version, rebooted my PC and I now have JAVA version 1.6.6.
    After I installed the proper version of Java, I went to explorer and double clicked on "SAP Widget Foundation - zip file.jar";. and had a successful installation of the SAP widget Foundation!
    Now on to configuring and connecting to my SAP backend system. Advise any guides for this step?

  • PhoneGap 3.2.0 where is the .jar file?

    Hi,
    I'm working with this tutorial
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/html5/articles/getting-started-with-phonegap-in-eclipse-for-an droid.html
    I can't find the .jar file he is talking about anywhere. I'm using Mac OS X 10.9. I found where phonegap was installed but there is only a cordova.js file and no cordova.jar or phonegap.jar or anything like it! I've looked everywhere and I found that 2.7.0 had this. Is this ok to use?
    I wasted so much time on this. Adobe, please update your documentation, it's a year and a half old!
    Thanks for any help!

  • Where should a ".jar" file be placed?

    Hey.
    I know there's a jar (java archives) forum, but things are kinda slow over there...
    I'm trying to run a simple JDBC application using Cloudscape (I've downloaded cloudscape.jar for that) and jdk1.3.1, on LINUX.
    The new .jar file isn't recognized and I keep getting a runtime ClassNotFoundException.
    I've changed several system-files (such as the root's .tcshrc and my own .bashrc), and copied the file almost everywhere, but just can't get it right :-(
    Where should the cloudscape.jar file go, and what are the exact changes needed in order to force (no more mister nice-guy) the system to acknowledge it?
    Thanx,
    Mike.

    just make sure your CLASSPATH includes cloudscape.jar. Not just the path, but also the jar filename.
    There is also a jre/lib/ext path in your java installation where you can dump your jar file so it will automatically be seen when you run your program.
