Where is my panel?

Forgive me, I am a beginner.
I have the following code to add a panel in my frame. It should be at north in the frame, the frame is set to BorderLayout.
public VMachine()
     JPanel p1 = new JPanel();
          add(p1, "north");
          p1.setSize(700, 100);
          p1.setBackground(Color.red);
          p1.setVisible(true);
Only the panel isn't there.
Any ideas?

Try
add(p1,BorderLayout.NORTH);

  • Where is Editor Panel submenu?

    I'm working my way through the Auditon CS6 Classroom In A Book and am stuck on page 46 where it says to "Click on the Editor panel drop-down submenu." This is supposed to show a list of recently loaded files into Audition.  -  I see the pull-down menu on the Editor panel tab that shows files that are currently loaded, but I do not see a 'submenu' or help files or clues when searching help or online help. I hope someone here can help me with this. Naturally, the book thinks I'm supposed to know where this is without telling me.
    TIA,
    Ken

    A 'twirldown' would be a triangle that is, when closed, is pointing horizontally, and, when opened, points downward disclosing the contents under that heading, that is my understanding of it anyway. The triangle on the tab of the Editor panel is already pointing down and when clicked on, opens the pull-down menu disclosing which files are already open. It also offers the options to close one or all of those files. This 'submenu' is what they may be (most likely are) referring to, and I think it is actually the pull-down menu of files that are already opened. The error in the book is where it says to choose a file that is already opened that had not been opened in steps leading up to this point. I believe this is where there is an actual error, in the book, so, all I needed do to open the file they are referring to is to go into the Media Browser pane, select the file they wanted opened and open it from there.
    Also, in the book, in one paragraph they call this menu a 'Pulldown' then they go on into the next paragraph and call it a 'submenu.'
    Thanks for helping me stay out of the asylum for beginners trying to learn from an otherwise excellent book.

    I control/clicked on the filter panel, and the Collections Panel was available as one of the options.

  • Where is control panel on imac?

    Am trying to uninstall a couple of programs, just switched Mac from PC for 15 years.  Cannot find where start menu is, control panel etc., in order to remove programs.  Thanks for your help.

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
    Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
    Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
    Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
    Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
    Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
    If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
    Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
    There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
    Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • Where is privacy panel in firefox 5.0.1? I do not see it in firefox/options menu.

    On my desktop PC, windows vista 64 bit OS, I updated to Firefox 5.0.1. I am not seeing the "privacy panel", when I goto the firefox/options menu. Where is this privacy panel in firefox 5.0.1, which in earlier versions, i used to see in tools menu.

    If you want to temporarily see the menu bar toolbar press the '''Keyboard ALT key'''
    Have a look at these articles, and any other links that they include that you feel may be relevant:
    * [[Private Browsing]]
    * [[Options window - Privacy panel]]
    Some of these options are now available from within the Firefox Button, or as explained above hit the alt key.

  • Where is 3D panel?

    Hello everyone,
    I am a graphic amateur, I have Photoshop cs5 and there was the 3D panel, now I'm trying the CC, but I do not find this panel.
    Can you tell me where is this 3D panel?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi 19Dieghito85,
    Sometimes a Driver Update can provide more possibilities for the Application.
    Basically the GPU you are using (GeForce GT 740M) is not being tested anymore for these newer applications:
    - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq1.html#Tested video cards for Photoshop CC and CC 2014
    * nVidia GeForce 7000, 8000, 9000, 100, 200, 300 series and Intel HD Graphics (First generation)
    cards/GPUs are no longer being tested and are not officially supported in Photoshop CC and CC 2014.
    Some GL functionality is available for these cards, but it's possible that newer features don't work.
    Hope this helps

  • Where did the Panel end marks go?

    So I was doing a demo the other night and went off script to show how Panel End Marks section could be used to customize Lightroom. Like so.
    Surprise! There is no Right clicking on a blank area of the panel allowed (or at least there is no result) in LRCC and right clicking on the Panel section returns the expected menu options.
    Version 5 shows the Panel End Marks options.
    Is this an oversight or was it specifically removed?

    Right-clicking on the empty area at the end of the panel list works for me on Win 7 and Lr CC. But as mentioned the panel end marks can be enabled in preferences.

  • Where is 'character' panel in PE 9

    I had a problem with my fonts be locked in all caps.
    Clicking the reset buttons did not clear it.
    On the internet it said to open the 'character' panel and change it there but I couldn't find the character panel.
    It is not on the menu bar at the top of the screen nor is it available under the Window drop down.
    I finally found a work around on the internet but would like to have access to the character panel.

    This panel is not available in PSE and it`s there in pro version Photoshop CS6.

  • In the latest Firefox where "browser.download.panel.removeFinishedDownloads" no longer exists, how does one automatically clear only the download history

    In light of the latest Firefox and the fact that it does not listen to my download retention setting and that "browser.download.panel.removeFinishedDownloads" no longer exists, how do I clear the download history automatically after each download without clearing browser history too? If this is not an option then it is either a serious bug or an important feature removed. If this continues, this is a big reason for me to discontinue using firefox. Really guys! Why?!

    then that is really awful. why was this done? maybe it is time to change browsers if this is not corrected soon. yes, corrected, as I see this as a major bug.
    thank you for your help though.
    Oh, wait, the downloads I keep seeing are not located in any particular folder but scattered across my computer in different folders I manually save them to. Would this make any difference? In any event, I can still see the download history, and I so much prefer the old way.

  • Where is Properties panel of the Elements Organizer 11 ??

    Adobe help indicates using the Properties panel of Elements organizer to view and change metadata ??
    I can find info using File Info in Elements Editor but it will only update ONE image at a time !!
    Looks like PSE11 is a giant step backwards!!

    Thanks - no help because the template is predefined and only has a limited number of fields.
    Try using File Info in the Elements Editor and you will see an entirely different set of template options including the ability to create and save templates.
    On this page toward the bottom you find info about metadata templates
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshopelements/using/WS287f927bd30d4b1f89cffc612e28adab65-7 ff1.html#WS287f927bd30d4b1f89cffc612e28adab65-7fef
    Save or delete metadata templates
    If you have metadata that you repeatedly enter, you can save the metadata entries in metadata templates. The templates can be used for entering information, and they save you the effort of retyping metadata in the File Info dialog box. In the Photo Browser, you can search for metadata to locate files and photos.
    Thanks
    HJ

  • Where is front panel datasocket connection

    After successfully using front panel data socket connections in the past I have now discovered that the menu item is gone.  Anybody have any idea as to why?
    LabVIEW 8.0.1
    WinXP/SP2
    Why can't I paste a screen shot?
    LabVIEW 8.0.1; WinDoze XP
    aut viam inveniam aut faciam

    The only data socket control that I see is the Datasocket Refnum (reference control), which is located in the refnum palette.
    I think all other functions are found in the block diagram palette.

  • Where are the extension cc panels stored on mac?

    I have been using Adobe Extension Builder 3 to create some test panels and now I want to trash them, but Adobe seems to have hidden them. I have tried: Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences folder, but they are not there. Nor are they in the main Photoshop folder "Plug-ins".
    Does anyone know where the extension panels for Photoshop CC are stored? I have done searches, on extension names, but nothing shows up.
    Thanks in advance - Sam

    Thanks Kurt - I already did that. The extensions are not there.
    It is rediculous that Adobe has made it so hard to find extensions that were created with Adobe Extension Builder 3. I have some I created, but want to delete them. Any extensions that were installed with Extenstion Manager go into the Photoshop application folder Plug-ins. Other developed extensions are in some mysterious location.
    Thanks - Sam
