  • Desktop SMS and Windows Mail don't work properly together

    Hi
thought I would post there here as been having some issues with my Windows Mail but my desktop computer doesn't suffer same issues and on a Vista forum where I posted my problem a couple of very helpful told me who to try solving the issues.
One of them suddenly realised I'd said my laptop was a Toshiba and apparently the Desktop SMS and Windows Mail just don't work properly together so the person suggested unless I use it to uninstall it apparently amongst the technically trained its known that these two programs don't like each other and would explain why my desktop doesn't have the issue but laptop does.
After resetting the Windows Mail (tutorial on a vista site http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/) Touch wood don't be put off by vistax64 as site does both 32 and 64 and followed Brink's excellent resetting Windows Mail (didn't restore any mail) and then uninstalled Desktop SMS and touch wood no more mail issues as has been giving me problems virtually daily with marking draft emails as read/sent.
So had to click on forward then delete those bits and finish email to send it and touch wood since doing these two things as soon as send an email to draft or outbox get the number of emails in the brackets whereas before this wouldn't happen unless I closed the program then reopened it.
Hoping these solutions have fixed my problem and wanted to share it with anybody else who wants to read this thread and would recommend the Vista 64 site as they're all really helpful over there and speak in non technical terms for those of us not technically trained.
    Debbie

I have marked this as answered as it was more a post to help others who may have experienced the same problem I did and didn't get a reply or just didn't know that this program could be the reason their Windows Mail has issues that can't seem to be resolved any other way apart from ignore them and hope they don't get worse.

  • Windows Mail can receive but not send until exiting application

Hi, and thanks for taking time to read this as I’m in need of your help.
I have a Toshiba P200, Vista Home Premium, Tiscali as my ISP, Norton Internet Security for AV and firewall, and am accessing my broadband via Ethernet to a Belkin ADSL router (and occasionally a Siemens router) and I’m experiencing some strange happenings with Windows Mail.
In short I can receive mail with no problems, but when I send the mail it stays in the outbox despite the Send Immediate option being checked or pressing the Send/Receive button. When I exit Windows Mail the mail is sent straight away, and is in the Sent Mail folder when I restart Windows Mail.
So why do I think there’s a problem with the laptop. Well, I’m fortunate enough to have a friend who has an non-Toshiba laptop, where all of the above can be replicated. Guess what, Windows Mail sends the mail exactly as it should (on my Tiscali account and on my network, through my router and ISP etc.), so I conclude that the only difference is that my laptop is a P200.
I have called Tiscali who confirmed that all my Mail settings were OK, POP, SMTP etc, which I’d expect (as they work on my friend’s laptop), and they advised I contact Microsoft, which I did, and since the P200 has Vista pre-installed they say I have to contact Toshiba, and here I am.
My P200 has been restored to factory settings, and I have tried to get this working without Norton IS, and no firewalls (Vista and router), but no luck.
Any ideas would be much appreciated and if I find out by other means, I’ll post back with outcome. If the answer is already out there, I apologise for being too dumb to locate it and beg your patience.
    Many thanks.

    Hi
It is typical for support people. Every of them try to send the customers away and the reason should be by them. In my opinion Microsofts reaction is strange for me. They have designed operating system and they should be responsible for the functionality.
I have Satellite A200 and Satellite P200D and I use Windows Mail on both of them successfully. My notebook is connected to WLAN router and router directly to the phone line. To be honest I have configured Windows Mail like you and all job were done in few minutes.
It is not easy to say where the problem can be but I believe there is some problem with some settings on your notebook. Some of them block it somehow. To compare your, with friends notebook is also not the best because he can have completely different OS settings (antivir application, firewall settings).
Try to disable all features who can block Windows hotmail to see if there is some difference.

  • Where did the 'sending mail' bar go?

I remember at some point, when I sent a msg with an attachment, there used to be a bar which would fill on the bottom lefthand side of the window showing how much of the message had been sent. Once it would fill (indicating that 100% of the msg was sent), Mail would ding and the msg would appear in my sent folder. Where oh where did this 'sent mail' bar go?
And how do I get it back?

    Hiya there,
    that should be easy:
at the bottom left (of your complete macmail window), you see a plus sign, an +arrow in a square box+ and a preferences cog wheel. click on the middle arrow in square box), the mail activity window will slide up, and you can see what is happening again.

  • How do I link my Windows Mail to PDF documents?

Right after I installed an update to my ADOBE Acrobat 9, I no longer can send a PDF by email directly by clicking on the mail icon next to the PRINT icon on the document. How can I fix this? I uninstalled and then re-installed Adobe Acrobat 9 and it did not fix this.
Obviously, I can drag a PDF to a message.
    Dan

    Dear Bill
I am pulling my hair out on this issue.
I have uninstalled both the Acrobat 9 and the preinstalled Acrobat 10 X reader. Then reinstalled only Acrobat 9 Full version.
If I open a PDF and then click on the Email Icon in the PDF It says “Unable to Connect to my email program.”
My Email Program is Windows Live Mail 2011
My System is a brand new Win 7 HP Notebook.
Please tell me when I find and set/modify MAPI
Also Please tell me where I set Live Mail as my default email client.
I have no other email client installed anyway.
What I CAN do is right click on a PDF that is on the Desktop and the click  Send To and then Mail recipient, and then I get the Windows Live Email Compose Window with the PDF attached. This is acting as though the Mail icon on each PDF is not functional. Like there is no code behind the icon.
Do you have any more info on how I can correct this ?
Any reply to me should also be cc: [email protected]
Thanks to you and anyone else who has a solution.
    Best Regards
    Dan Schaaf

  • In August installed PE12  on Windows Vista with incorrect Sharing Preference for Email Client. Shows default Adobe Email Service How do I change it to Windows Mail?

Had PE6 previously to installing PE12 on Windows Vista.  PE 12 installation went OK except for the Sharing Preference for the Email Client. Existing  PE12 client is the default Adobe email service not the correct Windows Mail for Vista. How do I make this change..

    Hi,
I think that for PSE 12, you may need to switch to Windows Live Mail
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=29224
You may find that you then also need the following fix.
Freeze or error “There is no email program” | Share via email | Elements Organizer | Windows 7
I think that the problem is that the new versions of PSE do not know where to look for the mail client.

  • Can't send email in Windows Mail

On May 12th I was unable to send emails under Windows mail.  It would come back with an error message of  "0X800CCC0F".  In my account I'm using (POP3) incoming.yahoo.verizon.net and (SMTP) outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net.
My SMTP port is 25 and my POP3 port is 110.  I receive emails but can't send any.  If I go to Verizon's email site I can send myself emails and receive them.  I don't like Verizon's setup so I've used Windows Mail with Vista and Outlook with Windows ME without any problems.  I've tried changing port numbers and checking and unchecking SSl and SPA until I'm not quite sure where I was originally.  Something must have changed 5 days ago but I not sure how to fix it.  Any suggestions would be most gratefully received.

Glad to know I'm not the only one.  Around the same date I began having the same issues (right after Microsoft installed updates).  I use Vista and have had this problem ONLY with Verizon ISP every month, at least once a month.  This time, it hasn't stopped since the 12th.
Due to this, I finally gave up and ran the Verizon In Home Agent, which Norton suggested I do not do.  I should have listened to Norton.  The IHA lists that I have two Outlook email address, both of which are the same.  I checked my Outlook and I only have one listed.  BUT, since I used the IHA I now receive emails twice and can't send any at all unless I use Webmail.  The IHA says there are no problems with my email, but I still can't send.
If you figure out the resolution to this, I'd love to know....and I will definitely try the link to Microsoft that someone already listed.  I can't use the Windows Mail or Outlook to send.

  • PDF non-retrieval using Windows Mail

Directly using Firefox or Internet Explorer to logon access to a website enables download of a PDF.  Double-clicking on the URL logon link within a Windows Mail message opens the browser (whichever set as default).  However, logon only results in a blank window.  I've tried many "can't open PDF" solutions to no avail.  OS is Windows 7 (32-bit) and Reader X version 10.1.1 with Flash Player 11 Plug-in.
    Help please.

Well, thats odd...here is the text:
I didn't edit the registry, that's just where I saw the entry.  The way I finally fixed it is this:
    1. Go to Control Panel (classic view)/Internet Options/Programs Tab and select "Set Programs".
    2. Select the last option "Set Program access and computer defaults"
    3. Click the double-arrow drop down and go to "Choose Default Email Program"
    4. UNCLICK "Windows Mail" even if Thunderbird is selected as the default and be sure Thunderbird's access is enabled.
I had to do this on 3 different computers after a Window update...it infuriated me and I have never been a Microsoft "basher" before but this is just unacceptable!  Good luck!

  • Windows Mail on my phone

    Hi there,
I'm using Windows Mail on my laptop - is there a way I can access this via my Nokia E71?
I'm finding it increasingly frustrating to not have access to emails once they have left my Yahoo account and been transferred into Windows Mail
    Thanks!
    Gav

I'm sorry. I thought you where talking about setting up some windows live mail account.
I know think I understand that you have a Outlook express client with different mailaccounts in it on your pc, and you want to access that Windows mail (outlook) on your phone? - In that case I cannot answer you as I have never touched outlook in my life...
But you should be able to set up your Yahoo mail on your phone using your yahoo email adress...

  • Windows Mail Error Message

I have a wired HP Desktop SR5219UK operating the Windows Vista 32 bit system.
I have a number of "Draft" emails stored in Windows Mail, but one of them (inevitably by far the longest and most important!) suddenly shows only the Subject Heading but instead of being able to see the contents of the Draft, I merely have a note where that should be saying "Message Cannot Be Found".
I'm not aware of having done anything to cause this (no new programmes added etc) but can't find any way of retrieving the "lost" Draft.  Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might be able to do so, or is there no hope of recovering it?
All of my other "Draft" messages remain in place and have not been affected.

    Hi rbaer,
Mine is a basic thought, (and perhaps one you have already tried), but if not, I would suggest ending the task. To do this, press control + alt + delete. Click "Start Task Manager". Click on Windows Live Mail 7, and then click End Task. Hopefully that will give you the fresh start with the program you need. Best of luck to you.

  • How can I transfer data from Windows Mail to Outlook on Mac?

My wife has at last agreed to ditch her Dell PC and get a new iMac. The one thing that is stopping her is moving her data on Windows Mail to Outlook or other email software on the Mac. What's the easiest way to transfer email history and contacts?

You should probably ask on the Microsoft Mac forums where their Office experts hang out

  • Using Windows Mail and BT Yahoo

I use Windows Mail with an email address ending in @btinternet.com.
I also have a BT Yahoo webmail account using the same email address.
As I use Windows Mail most of all I've tended to keep the BT Yahoo Mail account as a "back up".
Recently however I have noticed a few emails reach my BT Yahoo Webmail but do not appear in my Windows Mail inbox.
I was embarrassed recently when an important message fell into this category and I missed it because I only log in to the webmail a couple of times a week.
Does anyone else have this problem, or know why it happens
In every case the messages have been from individuals, not from businesses.
And in the case of one particular individual, a friend in the USA, all his recent messages have gone to the webmail account only and not reached the Windows Mail account.
Thanks in advance for your kind help/advice/support

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
May I ask where these webmail emails appeared ? Were they in the Inbox, or perhaps the Spam folder or another folder you've added ?
Only emails in the Inbox will arrive at Windows Mail. I assume you've set an advanced option within Windows Mail to "leave messages on server", and hence have all of your emails held in webmail ?
It is possible that Windows Mail has a slightly corrupted index, which makes a note of the emails it has last received, and therefore not picked up the new ones. This index can be reset, but you could effectively start receiving all of the emails stored on the mail server again - which could take a long time.

  • Windows Mail highjacking my BT mail inbox

    Any help much appreciated.
I have Vista, laptop purchased about four years ago, performance pretty good.
While looking online at an energy bill, I got a BT broadband help message saying problem with my email, so I clicked FIX.  Next thing I know Windows Mail has opened, looking like it had grabbed all my BT inbox, then a very old broadband supplier (Orange pop, shows how old it is) window opened trying to use Orange (I thought all its programs uninstalled long ago) to send emails (not sure where or why).
I closed down Windows mail (I dont recall asking it to be my email provider).  Next time I open BT mail, I have nothing in my inbox.  I go back to Windows mail and try to drag all the emails (clearly my BT inbox) back to to BT, but I cannot do this.
How do I stop Windows mail and Orange doing this and return the inbox to BT?
Would appreciate answers for dummies please, e.g. please don't ask me to "open the Cache" without telling me how to do that!
    Many thanks
