Where is original Java RTE 6 (1.6)?

I downloaded "Version 6 Update 10", which apparently is an update, not the full rte. I couldn't find the original Version 6 download.
After much trial and error I found and and downloaded Version 5 (1.5.0.16). After re-booting after installing 1.5, Java automatically invited the user to connect and downloaded version 6.
I have to tell the teachers in my school how to install the Java rte on their computers here at school and also how to download at home. Instructions to find 1.5 would be too complicated, and downloading Version 6 Update 10 doesn't install a full, working, Java rte.
Can you provide a link to install a full-up Java rte 6 (1.6)?

Roger
The file I downloaded is jre_6u10_windows-i586-p.exe.
It will be hard to duplicate the problem without spending a lot more time uninstalling and re-installing, but at the risk of boring you, here is a summary. Java rte is needed to run the client apps of a student management system (i.e. a database of students, grades, address, parents, and other private info) using IE 6, IE 7, or Mozilla with the Java rte, minimum 1.5.
A computer had 1.4 installed, but not 1.5, so 1.6 was downloaded/installed, but it would not run the grade entry module (called gradekeeper). When the gradekeeper module would not run, on the advice of the network administrator, Java rte 1.4 was removed and the system was tried again.
A module that gives the teacher the option of creating a seating chart by dragging and dropping the student's pictures, was tested first (we thought this was the most demanding app). The seating chart was not problem, but when gradekeeper was started, the message was that 'other active sessions were detected for the user account'.
Further details said that an http connection could not be made, and 'Cannot load class sun/plugin/JavaRunTime' i.e. the classpath was wrong.
I could send the error text from the Details tab of the Connection Error screen, but since removing 1.6 and installing 1.5 (which was hard to find) resolved the problem, I thought that Java 6 Update 10 was only an update. This being the case, I felt that finding the original Java 6, or installing 1.5 would be easier than trying to get to the bottom of the problem.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Bob

  • How & where to use Java script to create new button in object detail page

    Hi All,
I want to create "New/Add button" in object detail page. If i am not wrong i need to use java script for that but could you please let me know how & where to use Java script to create new button in object detail page in CRMOD.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Manish

Any related object on the detail page should have an "Add" or "New" or both buttons by default - This is vanilla functionality and will do the required action.
If you want to modify this behaviour and do something tricky you will potentially have to go for javascript. You should add the javascript on a custom web tab on that Object.
Admin --> Application Customization --> Contact -->Contact Web Applet
Now, add your javascript in the code area, after you select the type = HTML for this web applet, expose this web applet on the Contact detail layout and your javascript will be invoked whenever this page is loaded.
Check this online document to see how javascript can be embedded in CRM on Demand http://helponmyproject.com/TTOCOD/

  • Where to put java code - Best Practice

Hello. I am working with the Jdeveloper 11.2.2. I am trying to figure out the best practice for where to put code. After reviewing http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26098_01/web.1112/e16182.pdf it seemed like the application module was the preferred spot (although many of the examples in the pdf are in main methods). After coding a while though, I noticed that there were quite a few libraries imported, and wondered whether this would impact performance.
I reviewed postings on the forum, especially Re: Access service method (client interface) programmatically . This link mentions accessing code from a backing bean -- and the gist of the recommendations seems to be to use the data control to drag it to the JSF, or use the bindings to access code.
My interest lies in where to put java code in the first place; In the View Object, Entity Object, and Am object, backing bean.....other?
I can outline several best guesses about where to put code and the pros and cons:
    1. In the application module
Pros: Centralized location for code makes development and support more simple as there are not multiple access points. Much like a data control centralizes services, the application module can act as a conduit for different pieces of code you have in objects in your model.
Cons: Everything in one place means the application module becomes bloated. I am not sure how memory works in java -- if the app module has tons of different libraries are they all called when even a simple query re-execute method is called? Memory hog?
    2. Write code in the objects it affects. If you are writing code that accesses a view object, write it in a view object. Then make it visible to the client.
pros: The code is accessed via fewer conduits (for example, I would expect that if you call the application module from a JSF backing bean, then the application module calls the view object, you have three different pieces of code --
conts: The code gets spread out, harder to locate etc.
I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

    Stuart

First point here is when you say "where to put the java code" and you're referring to ADF BC, the point is you put "business logic java code" in the ADF Business Components. It's fine of course to have Java code in the ViewController layer that deals with the UI layer. Just don't put business logic in the UI layer, and don't put UI logic in the model layer. In your 2 examples you seem to be considering the ADF BC layer only, so I'll assume you mean business logic java code only.
Meanwhile I'm not keen on the term best practice as people follow best practices without thinking, typically best practices come with conditions and people forget to apply them. Luckily you're not doing that here as you've thought through the pros and cons of each (nice work).
Anyway, back on topic and off my soap box, as for where to put your code, my thoughts:
    1) If you only have 1 or 2 methods put it in the AppModuleImpl
    2) If you have hundreds of methods, or there's a chance #1 above will morph into #2, split the code up between the AppModuleImpl, ViewImpl and ViewRowImpls. Why? Because your AM will become overloaded with hundreds of methods making it unreadable. Instead put the code where it should logically go. Methods that work on a specific VO row go into the associated ViewRowImpl, methods that work across rows in a VO go into the ViewImpl, and methods that work across VOs in the associated AppModuleImpl.
To be honest which you ever option you choose, one thing I do recommend as a best practice is be consistent and document the standard so your other programmers know.
Btw there isn't an issue about loading lots of libraries/imports into a class, it has no runtime cost. However if your methods require lots of class variables, then yes this will have a memory cost.
On a side note if you're interested in more ideas around how to build ADF apps correctly think about joining the "ADF EMG", a free online forum which discusses ADF architecture, best practices (cough), deployment architectures and more.

    CM.

Hello and welcome to the support community
You only option is to buy a copy of Mac OS X, either the retail disk or system disks.
There are places you can by a copy of Mac OS X, like online vendors, Amazon or eBay.
System disk are gray and come with more than one disk. Retail disk are black with a 'X' on them and often come as one DVD disk.
Not sure what version your going to require as you haven't provided any specification and model details.
I would safely assume being a G4, it would be happy to install Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
If you could let us know the PowerBook you own, then I am sure we could advise you further.
    Best of luck

What did you use to download it with? iPad? iPhone? Computer?
If it's an iPad/iPhone, play it using the videos app.
If on the computer, look on the left side of iTunes in the library under movies.

  • Compiling Invocation Programs ? Where to find javai.lib ??

    Hello,
I'm having J2SE 1.4, VC++ 4.0. I'm trying to compile the invocation programs given in the Java Tutorial but I'm unable to compile since I've not found javai.lib in my J2SE folder. Can anyone help me on how to compile. Where to find javai.lib ??
    Thanks
    Wah Java!

The javai.lib/dll have been replaced by jvm.lib/dll
since Java2 SDK 1.2. The javai.lib is in the "lib"
directory of your JDK installation. Note that the
invocation API has also changed, and you will probably
need to update the method calls. See the JNI spec at
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/guide/jni/spec/jniTOC
doc.html.As you've said, I compiled the program and linked with jvm.lib but VC++ said that jvm.lib is incorrect file (or you can say corrupt file). Can you please help me how to compile with JVM.lib

And to be ultra clear - you did compile contactDB from a .java file to a .class file, and the class is called contactDB and not ContactDB correct? The class name is case sensitive and should be the exact same case in the useBean and import statements as in the real class name.

when i duplicate an object in numbers, it moves it far away from where my original object is as soon as i move it. is there any way to fix this? thanks

    Hi Rick,
Your initial duplicate should be offset by one grid unit to the right and below the location of the original. If you move that duplicate by dragging it, without first de-selecting it, then reselecting it, the place you put it will determine the offset for subsequent duplicates (from the same original or from the copy).
    Example:
    Initial object and first duplicate:
Pressing shift-up arrow would move the duplicate up to align with the top of the original. Pressing shift-left arrow would then place the duplicate directly in front of the original.
Without being deselected, the duplicate was dragged to the position shown:
Command-D was then pressed to duplicate the first copy:
The duplicate appeared in this position

    Hello guys,
Do you know where all the java updates are installed by default? Thanks for your replies!!

In the place where you find it when you install Java and you don't change the installation path! A wickedly easy test to perform and be 100% sure of yourself.
But it depends on the version of Java, and the operating system you use, and the version of that operating system, and possibly even your native language as the operating system (notably Windows) may have translated folder names. It may also depend on policy settings. Lots of variables.
