Where is Smart Shuffle?

Simple question. I'm using iTunes 8.0.1. Where is the Smart Shuffle function in the PLAYBACK are of the Preferences? This function allowed you to control the randomness of playback when the playing play list was on random (or shuffle). In other words, it used to control if songs from an artist were more or less likely to be grouped together when playing on random.

What the ****, Apple? This was a very awesome feature. Now when I pick a playlist and choose the "shuffle" button, it winds up playing blocks of songs by the same artist, which is NOT what I want. I used to be able to control this by adjusting the smart shuffle setting and reshuffling a playlist. Now I can't, and that blows. I suppose you think your "genius" thing supercedes this -- but why take options and tools AWAY from your users???

Problem with Smart Shuffle

So I dutifully installed the new Itunes 5. And everything is great except that now I cannot shuffle any of my playlists. I have tweaked the smart shuffle controls, but to no avail. The new playlists cannot be shuffled. Any ideas?

To choose whether iTunes shuffles individual songs, complete albums, or groupings, choose Edit > Preferences, then click the Playback tab. Select Song, "Complete albums," or Grouping. If you select "Complete albums," or Groupings, iTunes plays the songs in the order in which they appear on the album or in the grouping, and then chooses another album or grouping randomly.

Click Settings at the top of the Slideshow dialog to set one or more of the following options:

In iPhoto 6 there is no Shuffle option in the slideshow mode. However, if you select an album or a number of photos in the library and use the Play button in the toolbar at the bottom there will be a Shuffle option in the Settings window. That's the only place you'll be able to shuffle the slides.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

When you activate a smartform a function module is generated, so smartform is nothing but a function module.Once your smartform is activated, run it check the function module name.When you activate a smartform it generates a function module in a function group the name of both will be same.
Go to SE80 select function group and give the name of function module since both are same.You will be able to view your smartform.

Where are Smart Mailbox settings?

Hello
I set up a large number of Smart Mailboxes on my Macbook and they synced over to my iMac. Now, however, they have disappeared from the Macbook and i am getting a prompt to delete them on the iMac when it tries to sync.
Can anyone tell me where the Smart Mailbox settings are kept so I can copy it and let the sync happen and not have to recreated the whole thing?

Where is Smart Sharpen CS3 Settings folder located on the computer?

Settings>Save a Copy of Settings.
I once created and saved many custom settings on my old computer.
They would appear in the drop down Setting menu.
My question is, where is the Smart Sharpen Settings folder located on the computer?
I did do a Forum Search Smart Sharpen but results did not yield any info on where custom settings are stored.

I remember this exact subject coming up a year ago or more, and at that time I did some experimentation and some digging. Up until you asked your question, I had forgotten I ferreted this out before.
Back then, I created and saved a Smart Sharpen preset, and I named it
drogueflute
so I could find it again.
Just this morning, I did the same thing (because I had forgotten that I did it before), and named the preset
whelkvines
, again, so I could find it easily. Imagine my surprise when I first dropped that presets menu in the Smart Sharpen dialogue, and saw

staring back at me! The memories of doing this same thing before all came flooding back.
OK...so I saved out the preset I named

I found references to the two custom settings I saved out of the Smart Sharpen dialogue box. They are buried deep within the code for Photoshop's settings.
For me (and I'll generally assume for most users) these are stored in the Preferences folder...

Sooooo, if you want to import these presets, you'll need to find the "Adobe Photoshop
[version name Prefs.psp" file on your old computer that contained your custom Smart Sharpen presets and put it in its proper place on your new system, replacing the preferences (.psp) file you're currently working from.
Be warned that if the Prefs file on your old computer is from an ancient version of Photoshop, it may not work for a newer version on your new system.
Make sure you keep your current Prefs file handy (move it to your desktop, for example) so you can replace it if something breaks in a really bad way. Or, you could just reset ALL of your current Photoshop preferences by following the instructions presented in the FAQ section of this forum.

ITunes Smart Shuffle settings honored by the iPod?

Are Smart Shuffle settings in iTunes honored by the iPod?
From my own personal use, it would seem the answer is "no." For instance, I've set my settings to "less likely", yet on my iPod I routinely hear songs by the same artists--and from the same album--played sequentially, even though the playlist I'm shuffling (1298 songs) is more than large enough to not require this.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I think you answered your own question. No, I don't believe that the iPod uses the Smart Shuffle settings that iTunes uses, but maybe in future versions to come?
If you want you can request for Smart Shuffle to be added to the iPod.

CS6: Where are smart objects stored?

I've been working on some very large files where the primary image is converted to a smart object. For security I've backed up the PS files to another drive. Is the smart object part self contained? or stored as a separate lined file? Like if I had a PS file in illustrator. Backing up the Ill file would leave the image file behind?
I just don't want to get surprised with an X in my layers down the road.

Verizon uses FamilyBase, a paid service to monitor and control data and data radios. I have read where apps no longer have permissions needed to turn on and off mobile data radios any longer. That was a Google decision. Though, disabling the stock data manager was not a Google idea. That was Verizon. Any manufacturer's built-in feature is also disabled by Verizon. Verizon claims that FamilyBase is the only option to control data use or radios on phones with 5.0+. (of course you can still tap the data button to turn on/off mobile data, but it is not automated)

Where are Smart Slices stored (server / client)

Hi,
I wanted to know where are the Smart Slices stored ? Are they stored up in the client machine (machine dependent) OR are they stored up in the server (and hence accessible to the user from any machine) ?
We have big business group who are enthusiastic about Smart Slices and the wonders it could do in their needs.

They are not stored on the client as they are available to everyone. I'm not sure if they are stored in APS (which I think) or in Essbase.

Where are smart Collections Stored in CS5.5

They use to be in the application support area in CS4, but that Bridge folder no longer exists.

All that stuff is in appdata/roaming. In Windows appdata is a hidden file.

Where's my shuffle??

My shuffle generation 2 doesn't appear as a device on itunes. I'm connecting from the dock. Do I need a direct cable?

Okay, I finally figured out where you were talking about. When you are in the Library or Album window and click the Play button at the right of the toolbar, you get slideshow settings that include an option to shuffle the pictures. However, if you click the Slideshow button to create a slideshow from a group of pictures, Album, etc., the Settings button in the Slideshow toolbar does not have an option for shuffling the pictures. The pictures play in the order they are shown in the top row where it shows the thumbnails. If you want to change the order, you have to reorder the thumbnails.

I just made a playlist of 70 songs that I need to play in order
for a party in 2 hours and can't fint the shuttle turnoff URRRR!!!
I go up to controls and its turned off there but still wants
to shuffle on the play list. Itunes 11.1.5
It seems everytime you do a software update something goes haywire.

Found it. You have to right click on your palylist to turn on and off.

Where'd my shuffle go?

After downloading the recent iPhone update I seem to have lost the shuffle feature on my iPhone/iPod. Also, when I play any song of an album it repeats that song instead of continuing to the next. What's up with that?

When on the 'Now Playing' screen, tap the screen once. It will display the progress bar near the top, and below that you'll see the shuffle and repeat icons.
You apparetly currently have shuffle turned off, and repeat turned on. Tap the icons to change their status.

Where are Smart Mailboxes stored?

I want to copy over my smart mail boxes from my old 12" PB to my new MBP but cannot find them when asked using "Import Mailboxes" under the File pulldown menu.

My impression was that these "smart" mailboxes were virtual. That they presented messages that reside in other mailboxes and that meet some particular filtering criteria. They don't get copied to the smart mailbox, the smart mailbox entries just point at the message in the mailbox in which they reside.
Also, keep in mind that IMAP mail servers, such as that run by Apple for .Mac subscribers, keep their mail on the server. That way if you have multiple computers, say a desktop at home or in the office and a laptop for mobile use, both always see the same messages in the same mailboxes. In this case, you'll never find those messages on your local system 'cause they're not there.
Mailboxes associated with POP3 accounts (more typical for private ISPs, e.g.) are local files and / or directories. And you can always explicitly create a local mailbox. If you copy mail from a server-based IMAP mailbox to such a local mailbox, then the mail will reside on your Mac, of course.
