Where is the javascript?

Hello all:
   I am just beginning to learn Javascript for Acrobat and I am having a very fundamental problem.  According to the documentation I have (for an older version of Acrobat, for which I apologize) I am told that Javascripts outside a PDF should be placed in the "User" or "App" folders.
   I am working on a Windows machine and attempting to implement the above description. I assumed that the "App folder" was the Adobe application folder where the Acrobat.exe file is stored, and indeed there is a "Javascripts folder" in the Acrobat 8 folder under Program Files\Adobe.  But when I put a .js file in that folder and then call up the Javascript editor, the script is not found in it.
So where really do I put Javascripts outside of the PDF?
TIA!
John

    naviagte to shared component in the application edit screen and upload your .js file to static files.
    now you can ref. this file as

    Hello,
    >> We're trying to build and release real apps out here, and at the time of this post the documentation is still 404 unavailable!
    Why don’t you use the local documentation, which is part of the APEX distribution file? The JavaScript API is documented in the user’s guide (version 3.x, chapter 15).
    If you are looking for something specific, you can always open a new thread, with a proper subject, and people on the forum will gladly assist you with the information you need.

  • Where do I find the JavaScript Tools Guide

    I’m fairly new to Adobe scripting.  I just downloaded the Photoshop 2014 CC JavaScript Reference,
    and in describing ExtendScript’s features, it includes the line,
    For details of these and additional features, see the JavaScript Tools Guide,
    which it says is installed with Adobe CC at
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities\ExtendScript Toolkit CC 2014\SDK.
    It wasn’t there — there’s no such folder on my system. The Javascript Reference goes on to say,
    The latest versions of this document and of the ExtendScript Tookit,
    can also be downloaded from Adobe Developer Center,
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/.
    I followed the above link to the Developer Center, and I couldn’t find it there either.

  • Where to call the javascript function

    Hi,
    I am using JSF and ADF.
    I have a javascript function called by the body onload.
    The javascript is to set the first the first column of a table fixed.
    But when I click the next page link which is generated by defaut,
    the function from the javascript disappears.
    Can I call a javascript function when pressing the next page link which is
    generated by default ?
    Thanks.
    Ivan

    Hi Frank,
    My javascript function is to make the first column of the table fixed which
    is something like the function in the Excel.
    The function is called by body onload.
    But when the 'next page' link is clicked, it will not refresh the whole page.
    The above cannot be called.
    So I wanna add it during the action of pressing the link.
    any alternatives ?

  • Where is the "trusted source" for FrameMaker 12?

    When I run a script from a command line, I get the "You are about to run a script in Adobe FrameMaker 12. You should only run a script from a trusted source." Etc. The ExtendScript Toolkit docs say "the user-script folder of installed Adobe applications". Any idea where this would be for FrameMaker 12? Thanks.
    -Rick

    Untested, but p.18 of the Javascript Tools Guide has this to say:
    Adobe Scripts folder
    On first launch, the Toolkit creates a folder named Adobe Scripts in the user's Documents folder. The
    Default favorite in the Scripts panel displays the contents of this folder.
    When double-clicking a JSX file, the Toolkit normally acts as an invisible security filter. Before actually
    launching the file, a security dialog asks if it is OK to execute the script. The Toolkit treats the user's
    Documents/Adobe Scripts folder, however, as a trusted location; when you double-click a JSX file in that
    folder, the Toolkit does not display the security alert.
    In WIndows, that is "%userprofile%\Documents\Adobe Scripts".

  • PS CC unable to find the JavaScript plug-in?

    I am on a Windows 7 pro platform - Hi, when trying to launch PS I get the following message: "Could not complete the command because PS was unable to find the JavaScript plug-in" after clicking ok another message pops up: " There is a problem with Generator. .... "
    This problem occurred first after my one year discount run out and I paid the full amount. I thought the problem would be corrected by the next major upgrade - but no luck there.
    Any idea how to solve this problem?

    Why are you posting
    to both DPreview forum and Adobe forum now? You didn't answer me on the Adobe
    forum with this post. This is where you and I had been communicating. It was
    only by chance that I saw this posting on the DPreview forum.
    To ensure that we connect with each other I intend to post
    on both of the forums until we resolve this issue.
    I don't find this posting helpful - I am not an IT
    professional at all except as a user ( English by the way is not my native
    language).
    In this post you say I should have the 15.2.2... versions of PS
    CC. On your earlier post in the Adobe forum you told me I should have the 14...
    versions - which is it?
    As you know I do have only the 15.2.2... versions. Is there a
    compatibility problem between the 15... versions of these Adobe Plug-ins and
    the main PS CC program?
    If you can't help me please put me into a telephone chat
    (they can call me) or an on-line chat with someone who is able to walk me
    through to a solution.

  • Where's the "InDesign" of web design?

    Where's the app that behaves and works like InDesign? Why is it, we have to rethink and relearn every $*%&^ thing when it comes to making webpages and sites?
    I want master pages. Text boxes with columns. A style pallete that ACTUALLY works like a freakin' styles pallete. Pantone spot color to rgb conversion built-in, just like every freakin' designer has used for the last 15 years.
    Yeah, I can do all that crap by hand, but shouldn't have to.
    I know how to code. I can write markup and javascript in my SLEEP. But by now I shouldn't HAVE TO. I'm so sick of being handed spoons and chisels when what I really want is a backhoe and jackhammer.

    What do you mean? The action plugins are available for download from
    the regular Sentinel plug-in site:

    The ability to access or manage plugins will depend on your product

    What you want to do may also slightly affect how you access them so
    knowing that, and really knowing the entire story, would help.

    I've got some code i'd like to execute when a text field (call it myField) changes.  It will do things like make other fields hidden, maybe actiate a signature, etc.
    But if the user just clicks on a field and then clicks out, it should not fire.
    Where should I put the javascript for that?   MouseUP?  Blur?

    - Where? That depends upon what you what. But, going by the letter of what you asked, you shouldn't deploy any applications or packages if you want them on your newly images systems, you should make them a part of the TS using Install Software and Install
    Application tasks.
    - How many times? You should only need one although depending upon what you are deploying and if you are using offline updates, some folks add more. I typically use two one right after the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr task (just like the task sequence wizard
    builds for you) to update the OS and "things" in the image and one at the end to catch additional updates for apps and components added during the TS. Note that you also have to initiate an update scan cycle for additional install update tasks to work. Do
    this by adding a run-command line task before the second Install Updates task with the proper WMIC incantation.
    - Offline Updates only injects CBS updates into the image which are typically just core OS updates. You should also update your image though to include non-CBS updates. Using a build and catpure task sequence makes this easy.

  • Where to put javascript as global function

    Hi,
    Most of threads i read (which have simple javascript codes), the codes are written in 'HTML HEADER' on each pages and later can be call by items or else. If i have the same javascript but is used by many pages, so far my understanding is i have to duplicate the code on each pages. So my question is, where can i write the javascript in apex so it can be called by many pages ? ('Global' function).
    Thanks
    Gamez

    Hello,
    It looks like your confusing a couple concepts.
    Oh i see, i thought theres something like 'Application Process' where people can put some code inside.If your build AJAX functionality the easiest way to do it in APEX is using PL/SQL code in Application OnDemand Process.
    Andy, since i also totally new in java, what SIMPLE tool to use for compiling the script ? (need to compile?).In APEX you don't use java you use javascript and you don't need a compiler. Since your just starting out with javascript you should spend an hour or two at this site [http://www.w3schools.com/JS/default.asp]. It will save you countless hours in the future and is applicable in any web development environment.
    Martin, i'v created Page 0, but i dont see any place to put the javascript inside the page. Theres no kinds of HTML Header/Footer/Body where i can put it.So to your main question what is the best place to put a global javascript. There are four answers and I will put them in order from best to worse.
    1. In an external javascript file included in you page template between the head tags.
    2. In an external javascript file included in Page 0, put it in a HTML Region with No Template in the After Header region position.
    3. In an inline script section in the page template between the head tags.
    4. In an inline script section in the page template between the head tags in Page 0, put it in a HTML Region with No Template in the After Header region position.
    PS. I'm not kidding about the w3schools link it will save you hours!

  • Autocomplete to Combobox, where is the LOV...

    Apologies for the title of the post...
    I am hoping I am just missing some minor item, and a push in the right direction will get me working again.
    A few years back, most likely under Apex 4.0, I started using Jquery - Autocomplete for looking up employee names, hostnames, etc. This used some Javascript that someone had posted (don't recall who), and it worked pretty well. I would add a stanza like this to the page def (to be run after the page loads). The X02 passed some extra info to the on demand procedure to help with the search.
    $("#P28_REQUESTOR").autocomplete('APEX', {
                    apexProcess: 'PERSON_SEARCH_ACTIVE',
                    width: 600, multiple: false,
                    x02: 'Hostmaster:Owner Ok',
                    minChars: 3, selectFirst: false,
                    formatItem: function(row, i, max, term) {
                            if  ( row[1] > 0 )
                                return row[0]+" "+row[2]+" "+row[3];
                             return row[0]},
                    max: 100,
                    cacheLength: 1
       $("#P28_REQUESTOR").result(function(event, data, formatted) {
             $("#P28_REQUESTOR_ID").val(data[1]); });The Person Seach Active on demand procedure was something like: (Note - some details have been left out to give a better example - in the end, it doesn't matter at all)
    declare
       target_name  varchar2(255);
       scope_id    varchar2(16);
    BEGIN
       OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('text/html', FALSE);
       HTP.p ('Cache-Control: no-cache');
       HTP.p ('Pragma: no-cache');
       OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
       target_name :=  wwv_flow.g_x01;
       scope_id := wwv_flow.g_x02;
       Simon.Apex_People_Select.Trace('On Demand called for ' ||Target_Name || '/' || scope_id);
       FOR c IN (SELECT search_name,display_name,result_id
                   from table
                 (Simon.HM_Network_Maint.search_network(scope_id, Target_Name)))
       LOOP
             HTP.p(c.search_name ||
                   '|' || c.result_id ||
                   '|' || c.display_name );
       END LOOP;
    END;The g_x01 value is what the user is typing into the text box - once they hit three characters, it gets sent to Oracle for processing via the on demand procedure. The g_x02 (and 03, 04,..) are additional parameters - perhaps from a parent LOV. General concept with the returned data is the first element is the text to be searched, the second is the actual value (typically an integer - primary key), and the third value is what ends up in the text box once a value is selected (the searching value often has additional identifying info.)
    This approach worked pretty well, although it did not play well with cascading LOVs. But once I upgraded to Apex 4.2, I started hitting other issues with jQuery version differences, and some odd failures. To make matters worse, the original developer of the Javascript module, abandoned it - was not doing additional work with it.
    Combobox
    I did NOT want to re-invent the wheel, and it seemed to be a much better approach to move into PlugIn world - ideally using a plugin that someone ELSE wrote and was maintaining. I looked at the LOV Friendly Autocomplete plug in - and even installed it a few places - and discovered that it did not play well with my earlier autocomplete code.
    My concern with using the LOV Friendly Autocomplete - is that I didn't know how to provide any of the "Target Name" search info to the LOV (since that is what is being typed by the user at the time).
    I also started looking at the Combobox plug in - which seemed even closer with Lazy Loading=Yes (I also liked the ability to add new items on the fly) - but I was not sure how to provide the "Target Name" info the the Pipelined function that generates the list of values.
    I want to get rid of all of my old Autocomplete javascript and move to one (or more) plugins - (Which is why the details above don't matter, just trying to provide some background)
    Is this a good direction (Combobox or LOVFA)? How/Where do I connect my search (lov generation)?
    Edited by: Jon Finke on Jan 9, 2013 5:52 PM

    I've found the LOV (list of values from Forms) but I've
    notice that the search functionality is missing.
    (I'm talking about the "drop as " button LOV option on a form in JClient for ADF from "Data Control Palette"

  • Where is the old firefox homepage? The one with all the tabs above the search bar which says Youtube, IMDB etc?! I cannot find it s I have reinstalled my OS so everything is gone.

    Please message me back because I find this very irritating.

    There are onclick event tied to the URL that changes the link when you left or right-click.<br />
    So on first hover you see something different than after you have clicked a link with the mouse.<br />
    You can check that yourself by closing the right-click context menu and then hover the link another time.<br />
    It is possible to remove the onclick with a Scriptish/GreaseMonkey script or with a bookmarklet (do a Google search).<br />
    Firefox will always show the URL as present in the href attribute and not what the onclick will make of it as this is only known after running the JavaScript code in the onclick.
    It is best not to mess with the JavaScript setting in Firefox as this is a very basic enable/disable and will cripple a lot of web pages when you disable JavaScript.<br />
    There are extension like NoScript that can block all scripts by default, but that requires to whitelist all websites where you want scripts to run.<br />
    This may slow down Firefox when this list gets larger and also you need to be aware that pages may not work properly.<br />
    This is the same with all extensions that block content.
