Where is the old firefox homepage? The one with all the tabs above the search bar which says Youtube, IMDB etc?! I cannot find it s I have reinstalled my OS so everything is gone.

Please message me back because I find this very irritating.

There are onclick event tied to the URL that changes the link when you left or right-click.<br />
So on first hover you see something different than after you have clicked a link with the mouse.<br />
You can check that yourself by closing the right-click context menu and then hover the link another time.<br />
It is possible to remove the onclick with a Scriptish/GreaseMonkey script or with a bookmarklet (do a Google search).<br />
Firefox will always show the URL as present in the href attribute and not what the onclick will make of it as this is only known after running the JavaScript code in the onclick.
It is best not to mess with the JavaScript setting in Firefox as this is a very basic enable/disable and will cripple a lot of web pages when you disable JavaScript.<br />
There are extension like NoScript that can block all scripts by default, but that requires to whitelist all websites where you want scripts to run.<br />
This may slow down Firefox when this list gets larger and also you need to be aware that pages may not work properly.<br />
This is the same with all extensions that block content.

• I updated to Firefox 4 and it will not work so I can not get on line and it replaced the old firefox so I also lost all my bookmarks. I need them back. How do I get them?

I have a Mc g5 with the 10.4.11 operating system. Your site is my home page and it kept bugging me to update to the firefox 4. So I did now when I try to get on it tells me that that "I can not open this application because it is not supported on this system". It replaced the old firefox that I had so I can not open that. I have no way to get to my book marks and I need them. Let me know how to get back to my old firefox and book marks.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

For an unofficial Firefox 4 compatible version (TenFourFox) that runs on PowerPC Macs with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8 you can look at:

• After the latest update I see little arrows on some tabs, above the X. What are they?

They look like small fish hooks. They appear and disappear depending on what tab I have selected; otherwise they do nothing and have no Tooltips.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
*Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. • I cannot get Firefox to come up. It says it is running but cannot find it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Please help.

When I try to bring Firefox up it does not show that it is. If I shut my computer down it will come up the first time and as long as I leave it open it is okay. When I log out it does not come back up the next time. I am not having trouble with Chrome or Explorer.

The Firefox Home app for iOS is not the Firefox browser but rather for to synce with your desktop Firefox to have your Firefox desktop history, bookmarks and open tabs on your iPhone/iPad.

We have no plans to release the full Firefox browser for iOS. The iOS SDK agreement requires apps to use Apple's own JavaScript engine (or none at all, like Opera Mini which downloads pre-rendered pages from Opera's servers and cannot run JavaScript code in the client). Because of this, we have no supported way to distribute Firefox's rendering and JavaScript engine to iPhone users.

• I just bought an iPhone 4s and synched it yesterday.  I backed up the old phone (a 3GS), then restored all that to the 4S.  It generally worked well, except it truncated all SMS messages after October 20.  Can I get the new messages on the new phone?

Thanks for any help.

Basics from the manual are restrt, reset, restore.
Have you tried each of these?

• Does anyone else find that the new firefox 4 sucks? How do I get back the old one?

I upgraded to the new firefox 4 and I HATE it... I tried to uninstall it, and lost all my bookmark tabs, and then I tried to install the old firefox but couldn't, it only allows me to use the new one, which is also slowing down my laptop big time! Has this happened to anyone else?

I've not had any problems with Firefox 4 being slower, but I've never been so disappointed with a program in years. I went back to 3.6.16 and it's much more stable. I'm an attorney and use the Bankruptcy Court websites daily--literally, hourly--and 4 crashes on them repeatedly, will not download mailing matrices, will not print claims registers, or literally do ANYTHING as well as 3.6 did. If a browser won't do that, then it's worthless to me. We HAVE to have stable programs, and everything now in the Federal courts nationwide has to be electronic filing. I've tried all the tricks I know (and I've been a computer user and builder ever since Win 3.1) and nothing saved it. I finally uninstalled 4, did NOT offload my user profiles, and they all picked up again on 3.6.16. I don't plan on going back to 4--ever.

• How can I get the old Firefox back, this new one stinks

how can I get the old Firefox back, this new one stinks

Firefox is highly customizable and you may be able to customize it to meet your needs.
If you do not like the new UI, you can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

• Where can I find the "help links" on the default Firefox homepage?

There are usually links below the search bar on the default Firefox homepage. For example, currently mine says:
"Our thoughts are with those in the Philippines affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Please join Mozillians around the world in making a donation to the Red Cross. Our thoughts are with those in the Philippines affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Please join Mozillians around the world in making a donation to the Red Cross."
I was wondering if it was possible to find a list of past links displayed on the homepage. There was one a few weeks about "my internet identity" (or something of the sort), and I wanted to see it... but it's obviously not there now.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I don't know whether anyone is keeping a history of these home page "snippets". I mean, someone, somewhere probably has an archive, but I didn't find one in a web search.

• The old firefox worked on my computer here in Germany going through a Volkswagen server in the US, but the new version doesn't. I need to back date or fix 16

Hi,
I am a Volkswagen employee using a computer supplied by the US. I am living and working here in Germany and stationed at VW headquarters. My computer is connected to the VW US network via the VW Germany network. Normally, I can get all my emails and everything perfect through Outlook and I can use Google Chrome or Internet Explorer to get to internal VW US web pages. But I cannot get to pages such as google or ebay (just examples). The fix that VW US recommends is to use Firefox (something about a proxy server issue). Well, I have been for the last few months and it has been working great. Well, I noticed a problem with the bookmarks menu always disappearing on me unless I kept the mouse pointer moving so I decided to check for updates, which there was one available, and I got it. Now, Firefox acts like Google and Internet Explorer where I cant get to any web pages. The only alternative is logging in through my VW VPN and then I can get to all web pages (like I am doing now). But this slows the computer and makes printing take like 10 minutes. Can you help me get back to the old Firefox or make it so that the new one works like the old one in this regard?
thank you!
James

1.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems article.
2.
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox and any leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps one by one:
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu) and confirm all upcoming messages.
#Now, uninstall Firefox by following the steps mentioned in the Uninstall Firefox article.
IMPORTANT: On Windows, the uninstaller has the option to remove your personal data and settings. Make sure that you do not check this option; otherwise all of your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, user customizations and other Firefox user profile data will be removed from your computer.
After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the "Mozilla Firefox" program folder, located by default in one of these locations:
* (On 32-bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
* (On 64-bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#Go to the Windows Start menu and click on "Computer".
#In the Explorer window that opens, double click Local Disk (C:) to open the C:\ drive.
#Find the "Program Files (x86)" folder or "Program Files" folder.
#* On 32-bit Windows, double-click the Program Files folder to open it.
#* On 64-bit Windows, you will see a "Program Files (x86)" folder AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the Program Files (x86) folder.
#Look for a Mozilla Firefox folder. If you find one, right-click it and select Delete and confirm that you want to move the folder to the Recycle Bin.
Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
#Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
#Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

• How do I delete the information from the old firefox sync mechanism?

I have updated to the latest versions of Firefox and the latest/new version of Firefox Sync on both my devices by following the instructions from this support site.
QUESTION: Did disconnecting my devices from the old sync mechanism delete any and all of my information (e.g. bookmarks, passwords, etc.) from Mozilla's servers?
QUESTION: If disconnecting my devices from the old sync mechanism did NOT delete all of this information from the Mozilla's servers, how do I now delete all of that information from the old sync mechanism? Also, if it did not and a step was required to do so before disconnecting my devices, that should be added to the instructions about moving to the new sync.
This seems to have been asked in a couple of different threads, but the answers I read all seem to describe how to either upgrade to the new sync mechanism or delete an account from the new sync mechanism. One provided a link to a site to delete an account, but it's unclear if that will delete the account from the old sync mechanism or from the new sync mechanism since there's no indication as to which is which in Mozilla's account services.
Thanks for your help!

If you used the same email address on the new Sync as you were using with the older Sync, there is no "old" data to delete. Basically - the same account which was updated for the new version of Sync.

• Hello, I used to in the old firefox synchronized without an email address, using the id

Hello, I used to in the old firefox synchronized without an email address, using the id, so now it is impossible, how can sinhronizirovatsya having the id, password and Sync Key?

Hello,
Provided you are running the latest version of Firefox on all of your devices and computers, you can sign in with a Firefox account . All you need is an email and password, the sync key is no longer required. Simply click on the menu button (3 bars) and click Sign in to Sync. If you don't already have one, you can create a Firefox account on that page. To add additional devices, log in with the account you just created.
Note: If you don't see Sign in to Sync, you are signed in with your old account and need to follow the steps in How to update to the new Firefox Sync.
See:

• New firefox installed - didn't give me the option of not installing it before telling me that (essential to me) add-ons were incompatible. How can I get the old firefox version back?

I would not have installed the new firefox if I had known in advance that two of my essential add-ons would no longer work. Now I want the old firefox version back so I can continue to function until the add-ons are updated. Suggestion: when you notify user that add-ons are incompatible, give the option of reverting to an earlier firefox version.

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
# Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference browser.tabs.warnOnClose, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
# Repeat this for these 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, browser.warnOnRestart and browser.showQuitWarning
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
# Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
# Go to the General panel
# Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
