where we use Conversions? like Fixed Value and Value mapping?
Mostly say when u have a scenario like converting a value in the source to a another in
target. Say in source it might me KM but in target u might need Kilometers and u hav multiple entries like this.

Value mapping is used to map different representations of an object to each other.

The situation:
I want to use basetext font, but some of the glyphs are missing in it, and are highlighted with pink boxes. common font [stix, etc.] have much more glyphs than basetext font. I can apply common font [stix, etc.]manually for each of the missing glyphs or insert two character and use kerning set it up, but it is tedious.
Question:
How find the missing glyph using javascript [like indesign preflight], and replace same glyph available font or insert two character and use kerning set it up?
Any one know how to do this?
Thanks in Advance,

Limiting entry in a JTextField to numeric value and "%" value
Hi,
I want to allow the user to enter numeric value and % value
How can I limit the user to make such a entry in JTextFieldUse the code given below to make your textfield accept only numeric values. You can modify itto include % values too.
textField.setDocument( new TextFieldVerifier() );
class TextFieldVerifier extends PlainDocument {
public void insertString( int offset, String str, AttributeSet attSet ) throws BadLocationException {
boolean valid = false;
if ( str == null ) {
return;
String old = getText( 0, getLength() );
/* insert the new string at the given offset, into the old string */
String newStr = old.substring( 0, offset ) + str + old.substring( offset );
try {
/* check if the new string is a valid integer */
Integer.parseInt( newStr );
valid = true;
} catch ( NumberFormatException ne ) {
/* invalid, if not an integer */
valid = false;
Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().beep();
if ( valid ) {
super.insertString( offset, str, attSet );

Fixed Values and Value Mapping
Hi Experts,
I hav a doubt regarding these to funnctions in Messege mapping. In both teh functions , we can change a value coming from Load to some thing else.
Like
A=1
B=2
C=8.
The difference i hav noted is the in case of fixed values, we can assign the valsues in the messege mapping itself, and in case of value mapping it is assigned in the value mapping table in integartion directory, and thsi can be seen through Runtime Workbench in Cache Monitering. . Apart from that there seems to be no big significat difference in the application .
Pls correct me , if I ma missing out something.
Pls tell me if both hav the same functionality, why were these 2 functions made , any 1 of them, preferably Value Mappimg Function could hav been enough.
Regards,
Arnab.Hi
Fixed value mapping is Message mapping Specific
But Value mapping allows u to create a Schema and group .
Value mapping functionality will be well understood in large integration where many mapping programs using same conversions.
Maintain advantage is maintance is easy with value mapping because if any chnages in value , just ID change is enogh no need to go mapping but this is not with fixed value
For instance if u r using Fixed value in 50 mapping programs u need to change in all
But if u r using Value mapping just one ID
Which one u prefer
all based upon u r landscape for mapping

I am using numbers as a CRM and one of my columns is called 'Next Action Required' i.e
Next Action Required
Email Douglas on the 02-12-14 about information needed for tour
Call Thomas 0446 393 about booking trip
Thank you in anticipation
DougUtterly bizarre. I can't see your two follow-up posts when I'm logged in. However...
Things would be simple if Apple implemented Data Detectors for dates in Numbers, as they have in applications like TextEdit and Script Editor. Then you’d have a system-level means of quickly moving from a selected date in your CRM spreadsheet to Calendar.
Until that happy day arrives, though, we can approximate it with AppleScript and Automator.
First, make sure your Numbers table is called CRM and your column has the header Next action required. (You can change these if you want but you’ll also have to modify the script.) This is the basic setup:
Then, launch Automator and create a new workflow. From the Choose a type… dialog, specify Service.
At the top of the workflow, “Services receives selected…” should be set to text in Numbers.app. (You'll need to choose Other... from the pop-up and then navigate to Numbers.)
In the Library menu at the left, click on Utilities, then drag a Run AppleScript action into the main Automator pane. Delete all the boilerplate text from the script.
It should look like this:
Now copy and paste the script below into the Run AppleScript action.
on run {date_string}
tell application "Numbers"
tell document 1
tell active sheet
try
set crm_table to (item 1 of (every table whose name is "CRM"))
on error
display dialog "No CRM table in this sheet"
return
end try
tell crm_table
try
set the_selection to selection range
set the_row to row 1 of the_selection
on error
display dialog "Select some text in a cell"
return
end try
set the_col to item 1 of (column of the_selection)
set header_cell to cell 1 of the_col
if value of header_cell is "Next action required" then my run_calendar(date_string)
end tell
end tell
end tell
end tell
end run
on run_calendar(date_string)
try
set date_string to date_string as string
set real_date to date (date_string)
on error
set real_date to (current date)
end try
tell application "Calendar"
activate
switch view to day view
try
view calendar at real_date
on error the_err
display dialog the_err
end try
end tell
end run_calendar
Click the little hammer at the top to make sure that the script compiles (indents and colours in). If it doesn’t, you may need to sort out some line breaks in the copied and pasted script.
Now save the workflow as Go to date in Calendar. Quit Automator.
So what does the script do? Basically, it looks at the selected text in a Numbers cell and checks to see that the table name is “CRM” and the column header is “Next Action Required”. It then tries to convert the selected text into a valid date. If it can, it takes you to that date in Calendar. If it can’t, it takes you to today’s date. In both cases it switches Calendar to day view. You have to bear in mind that if you select all of “10/10/14 Call John re contract” it won’t understand that part of this is a date, and won’t go to October 10. You'd have to select just "10/10/14"
To run the Service, right-click or control-click on the selected text and go down to Services, then choose Go to date in Calendar:
Alternatively, run it from Services in the main Numbers menu.
You can set up a keyboard shortcut for any Service in System Preferences - Keyboard - Shortcuts. Post back if you need more info about this.
Tested with Numbers 3.5 (2109). This will not work with Numbers '09.
Hope this works for you, let us know how you get on.

What goes where when using separate drives for data and applications?
Hello people!
In Mac Guru's "Guide to Macintosh Performance Acceleration" it states " Separating your "User" data from the Operating System and Applications is the simplest and most cost effective way to enjoy a significant performance boost at
minimal cost"...
Now how exactly do I do that?
I have a 40 GB HD with Panther on it and a 55 GB drive I want to use for the "data" drive. What goes where?
Thanks for reading!Hello Danny:
Welcome to Apple discussions.
I disagree with the premise in that article - "significant" is relative and depends on where you are. The only method I am aware of to "separate" would be to create partitions. OS X uses sophisticated algorithms to manage memory - both real and virtual. There are very few good reasons to partition an internal HD - and several that suggest you should not do that - absent a "good" reason.

How to use Custom Tags for Theme and Base Map Definitions
In Mapviewer documentation I've found the following new feature:
The XML definition of a theme or base map now supports application-specific
attribute tags. You can use the Custom Tags option in the theme definition in Map
Builder to specify tags and their values, which can be interpreted by your application
but are ignored by MapViewer itself.
I'm able to define a custom tag in Mapbuilder, but how can I use it in my Application?
Thanks.As he said, you have to use as Platform service to create adapter in OIM.

Urgent: Performance problem with where clause using IN and an OR condition

and hr2.person_id = r2.person_id
and r2.fyi_list is null
and r2.sequence_number <> 0))
or
(:1 is null))
If I modify the statement to remove the "or (:1 is null))" part at the bottom of the where clause, it returns in .16 seconds. If I modify the statement to only contain the "(:1 is null))" part of the where clause, it returns in .02 seconds. With the whole statement above, it returns in 477 seconds. Anyone have any suggestions?
Explain plan for the whole statement is:

Tablespace: XXDLD
(4) UNIQUE INDEX RANGE SCAN HR.PER_PEOPLE_F_PK [Analyzed]
Est. Rows: 1 Cost: 1
Thanks in advance,
PeterThanks for the reply, but I have already checked what you are suggesting and I am pretty sure those are not causing the problem. The hr2.full_name column has an upper index and the (4) line of the explain plan shows that index being used. In addition, that part of the query executes on its own quickly.
Because the sql is not displayed in an indented format on this page it is a little hard to understand the structure so I am going to restate what is happening.
My sql is:
select a_column
from a_table
where ((:1 is not null) and a_column in (sub-select statement)
or
(:1 is null))
The :1 bind variable is set to a varchar2 entered on the screen of an application.
If I execute either part of the sql without the OR condition, performance is good.
If the :1 bind variable is null with the whole sql statement (so all rows or a_table are returned), performance is still good.
If the :1 bind variable is a not-null value with the whole sql statement, performance stinks.
As an example:
where (('wa' is not null) and a_column in (sub-select statement)) -- fast
where (('wa' is null)) -- fast
where (('' is not null) and a_column in (sub-select statement) -- fast
or
('' is null))
where (('wa' is not null) and a_column in (sub-select statement) -- slow
or
('wa' is null)) -
How to get the name and value of an attribute on a node/element that is not a child
Hello,
Can someone shed some wisdom on how I can compare 2 xml nodes for differences.
My main challenge is I need to use the attributes/values of 'ProductDescription' and 'Features' as 'key' to identify the same node in
another doc with the same layout, but different content.
I am having trouble getting the name of the attribute on the node, 'ProductDescription' and 'Features'. I can only seem to get the node names, but not the attributes on the node. I need the name, because it can be different from doc to doc, so
I can't hardcode this.
Can someone please help with how to retrieve an attribute name/value on a node that is not a child. Here's an example of what
my xml looks like:
DECLARE
@myDoc1 xml
,@mydoc2 xml
DECLARE
@ProdID int
SET @myDoc1 ='<ProductDescription ProductID="1" ProductName="Road Bike">
<Features featureID = "1" featureName = "body">
<Warranty>1 year parts and labor</Warranty>
<Maintenance>3 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
</Features>
<features featureID = "2" featureName = "seat">
<Warranty>1 year parts and labor</Warranty>
<Maintenance>2 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
</Features>
</ProductDescription>
SET @myDoc2 ='<ProductDescription ProductID="1" ProductName="Road Bike">
<Features featureID = "1" featureName = "body">
<Warranty>2 year parts and labor</Warranty>
<Maintenance>3 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
</Features>
<features featureID = "2" featureName = "wheel">
<Warranty>1 year parts and labor</Warranty>
<Maintenance>2 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
</Features>
</ProductDescription>
I need to compare the attributes of 'ProductDescription' and 'Features' from @mydoc1 against @mydoc2 to see if they are the same based on those 2 nodes first. If they are, then i want to show the difference in the child elements.
This will eventually be an outer join to give me the differences betw the 2 docs based on those key values (node attributes).
I used node('//*') for the path, and value('local-name(../.)', 'varchar(50)') as element
,value('.[not(@xsi:nil = "true")]','VARCHAR(255)') AS new_value
...etc...
but that only gives me the node names, and the child elements. It does not give me back the attribute names and values from the node itself.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Where in the JSF lifecycle does submittedValue, localVaue, value get set?
Where in the JSF lifecycle does submittedValue, localVaue and value get set? I was looking at those values on a hidden input field and it was not clear to me in what phases the various values get set. It seemed like sometimes one was set, sometimes the other was set. It was not clear to me how to know where to look for the value (other than try one if that was null try another).

The difference is that 'localValue' represents the actual and unevaluated value, and 'value' represents the outcome of the evaluated ValueExpression value.
