Which Canon HD camcorders are the easiest to use with my MacBook Pro?

Hi!
I have a MacBook Pro with Leopard OS, 2GB and imovie 7.4. We are researching HD camcorder options and really like the Canon HG20 or 21 but have concerns for ease of use with my macbook. We won't be doing much editing and really just want to record our vacations on our camcorder and be able to show them on our HDTV's (1080i). If I understand the process, we would have to download our hard disk from the camera into the computer and then copy it to a DVD? Will my computer copy the high def. and if so can I run it on our regular DVD player or would we need a Blu-Ray?
Maybe a better question would be what would be your recommendations for a Canon HD camcorder that is the easiest to use with my MacBook? Would we be better off to go to one with flash disc as opposed to the hard disk? We need to keep this process as simple as possible! Thanks much for any advice or info!

You have been mis informed the MacBook Pro Retina does NOT work with the Apple Remote natively.
The Remote is infra red and your computer doen't have an infra red receiver onboard.
You need to purchase an external infra red receiver as well such as this

Migration Assistant (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Migration Assistant) is the tool that you would use to restore backups from older Macs to another Mac.
Details are here:   http://pondini.org/OSX/MigrateLion.html   The same info applies for Mavericks and Yosemite.   If you are saying that this is a "no go".....where are you getting stuck?  What error messages do you see?

  • How do I connect TC to a new ethernet and share a new ethernet DSL with a new PC and use with my macbook Pro? I tried and get no internet on the PC or Macbook Pro?

how do I connect TC to a new ethernet and share a new ethernet DSL with a new PC and use with my macbook Pro? I tried and get no internet on the PC or Macbook Pro?

    Ok.
I am connected to wi-fi through TC connected to a specific router and is working perfectly and saving data through TM without any issues.
The TC version is 7.6.1 and am using OS 10.7.3
The router mode is on Bridge mode and router is connected to TC through USB cable, I suppose for internet access. My Mac is on wi-fi through TC
I have another location, much further, which recently have been installed with wi-fi through router that has WPA accessibiulity with password, 100% different than the current one.
Since, I will be most of my time in this new location, I wish to move my TC to this new location, and configure it in similar fashion like what I am having right now.
Naturally, I do not wish to lose any saved data on the TC.
Hope I managed to provide enought info.
    Thanks in advance

  • What is the best external battery to use with a macbook pro retina?

Looking for the best option here. What is the best external battery to use with a macbook pro retina?

You should check your date of purchase against the manufacturer's warranty
or guaranty since some of those better brands have some recourse should
they fail within a specified time period. A good reason to save dated receipts.
Since solid-state USB drives probably don't (all) use a wear-leveling software
to equally utilize their recordable space evenly, it is possible that some of these
may exhibit a failure in some sector areas due to excessive over-writing. If the
ones you use do not have such a technology or an undercounted total capacity
with a means to automatically write in other sections, you may have to consider
manually using a disk utility to zero-overwrite and reformat them occasionally.
Even so, that may only help a marginal flash or thumb drive work a little longer.
Should a camera memory card fail you still may be able to attempt with margin of
success, to +recover image files+ from it. re: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec
The standard default format they ship with works well for most file types; so if
you aren't moving OS X or Mac app specific files around on a USB flash drive,
the original format should be fine. Oh, you can use Disk Utility to attempt to do
a repair; but in some cases you may have to reformat them, etc.
    {Some of the flash drive warranties or guarantees may vary from between regions;
so if you have one with a '5 Year' guarantee in the US, other rules may apply in EU,
    or when you seek to replace an item under warranty outside of where it was bought.}
    Good luck & happy computing!

If I have purchased an app on my iphone. can i download the app to use on my macbook pro without paying for it again?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
iOS apps are different than Mac apps, so you can't use a iOS app on a Mac. You have to purchase that app in the Mac App Store in order to use it with the Mac. They are different operating systems and require different apps

  • My Imac late 2012 running Yosemite does not recognise my Huawei 3g usb modem. itried to install Java bt still it does not although the same modem works with my MacBook pro . any help please

My Imac late 2012 running Yosemite does not recognise my Huawei 3g usb modem. itried to install Java bt still it does not although the same modem works with my MacBook pro . any help please

    Hey there mbarikiwa,
If your iMac still has not recognized the usb modem, I would use the troubleshooting for Yosemite USB issues in the following article:
OS X Yosemite: If a USB device isn’t working
If the device is connected to a USB hub:
Make sure the device and the hub are the same speed. Connect USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices to a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed HUB, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices to a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub, and so on.
If the device doesn’t have a power cord and is plugged into another USB device that doesn’t have a power cord:
Try plugging the device directly into your computer’s USB port  or into a USB device that does have a power cord. You might need to disconnect and reconnect the other device as well, if it has stopped responding.
If you have many devices connected to your Mac:
Disconnect all USB devices except the device you’re testing, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse. Make sure that the device is connected directly to the computer, and that any hubs or extension cables are disconnected. If you can use the device now, the problem may be with one of the other USB devices or hubs you had connected to your computer. Try reconnecting them, one by one, to your computer. When you find the device causing the problem, review its documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
Verify that the device appears in System Information:
Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. In the window that appears, click Overview, then click the System Report button to open System Information.
In the window that appears, see if the USB device is listed below Hardware in the Contents list. If the device appears but does not work, review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
    Restart apps:
Quit and restart any apps that use the device.
    Restart your Mac:
    Choose Apple menu > Restart.
    Check your device’s USB connection
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

  • What are the best ways to attach my macbook pro to our soundboard

I need to upgrade the way in which I attach my macbook pro to our soundboard in order to improve quality recording and sound output. Which cables do I need to purchase? I am using a 2007 macbook pro/Snow Leopard OS. Thanks!

The sound input can use an optical/digital cable from your soundboard (if you have the digital out).  You can use a whole host of products to record the sound using the MIDI setup along with something like Garage Band or Audacity (free) to something professional like Logic Pro 9.

  • What is the best printer to buy to use with my macbook pro, iPad 2, and touch?

Hi, Im trying to figure out which printer I should buy that is affordable and is compatiable with my macbook pro with os x lion installed on it, my ipad 2, and my itouch 3rd generation.
    Thanks,
              Preston

Try the HP photosmart B110 its a bloody fantastic wireless printer scanner and copier and its got a nice wee touch screen too.
You can wirelesly print when you are out and about send yourself a wee email to your printer and it will print out.
It also makes use of Airprint on your Ipad and your Iphone, I managed to pick this printer up for £30 as it was on a promo for a month or so dont know if its gone back up in price or not.
Print quality is amazing and it prints good photo prints too.
Ink is really reasonable and cheap for this printer too, and not only does it take seperate black cartrige but all the colour ones are seperate too which its cheap for ink in the long run ;0)
Hope that this offers some help

  • What are the specifications for Internal Hardisk 500GB Macbook Pro (Mid-2012)?

I need to purchase a new internal hard disk for my Macbook, I'm gonna go for 500GB space.
Now. I need to know the specifications. I don't want suggestions, because I live in India and I may not be able to purchase the harddisk which you tell me to.

Will any of the above two harddisk work with my 13 inch Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) model?

Drive #2 would be your best bet - except for the fact that it's a 3.5 inch drive and you need a 2.5" x 9.5mm drive.
Look on your site for HGST 7k1000 drives - 1TB and it will 'fit' your machine exceptionally well.

  • How do I change the phone number associated with my macbook pro

I have a new macbook pro and it somehow is associated with my husbands phone number and not mine.  So when I text it comes from his phone and all contacts associated with his phone.  How do I switch it to be my iphone?

    Hello RoandCo,
It sounds like Messages on your MacBook Pro is associated with your husbands Apple ID phone number and not yours. On the computer check the Messages Preferences to see which Apple ID is setup with this article:
Messages (Mavericks): Set up your accounts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH15055
Open Messages on your computer and then:
Choose Messages > Preferences, click Accounts, then select iMessage in the Accounts list.
If the Apple ID is not yours and has the wrong phone number in it, you can sign out of the account and setup your Apple ID instead with the sign out button.

  • Is the Dell 3115CN compatible with a Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion? If so, how can I install the drivers and install the printer on my mac?

I hace a Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion OS.... I need to print from time to time but don't have a new printer to go with my new macbook. Would a 3115CN work with it or no? If so, how can I set it up? Setting up a printer on a mac is a bit different from doing so on a windows machine and I am new to the macworld.
All help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. I'm running this printer from 10.6 through 10.9 and it's worked fine with all versions. Dell released updated drivers a while ago that make it much easier to administer this printer.
