Which file fails in sender file adapter

Hi.
Is there a place in the monitoring landscape, that can tell me the filename of a file, that fails in a sender file adapter (lets say I receive files with filename *.txt).
The file adapter uses content conversion.
Right now, the RWB only tells me that something went wrong in the content conversion. The filename would be nice for people working in a CCC to forward to second level support!
Regards...
Peter

Hi,
In the sender file CC..
Check the option filename and filetype under the adapter specific attribute so  that the payload will have the filename too...which make the life easy...

  • When I try opening Acrobat I get a fatal error which says "Failed to send a DDE command"

I need help with opening Acrobat (trial version) It won't open, I get the above message.  Any help please?

    Hi house in valle,
Try downloading the latest update for Acrobat from Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows and install and check if you are able to launch Acrobat.
If the problem persists, go to Control Panel> Programs> Select 'Acrobat' and click on 'Change'. Repair Acrobat installation.
The last resource would be uninstall the Adobe Acrobat XI, run Acrobat Cleaner (get it from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html), and reinstall it.

  • Maximum record length in sender file adapter

    Hi,
My requrement is to read a test file which contains the records of fixed length of 4096 charcters. I tried a quick test but sender adapter seems to be terminating the records.
Is there any limitation on the number of characters in records which file adapter can read? Please suggest. I am putting togather a prototype for a potential client and it will have a big impact on decision whether PI can be used in project or not.
    Thanks for help!

Never tried this one. How ever, were you trying with content conversion? When you say the records are being truncated, can you tell after how many characters the adapter is truncating the record?

  • File Adapte picking up XML if XSD valid without verifing the XSD in adapter

    hi',
    I am facing one issue
I have a sample XML file which I want to read through BPEL process
for this I have configured the file adapter with the schema and reading the file adapter with the receive activity
next I have created one XSD file (which file adapter referes to) and one XML file,
File adapter reads it after the XML file gets validated with the XSD which is kept in a location *'/test/xsd/emp.xsd'*,
now the issue is that the file adapter is picking up and initiating the process without verifying the XSD mentioned in the adapter
it is only checking the XML file with the XSD mentioned in the XML,
for example if I have a xml file which is refering to some other schema it also gets read by file adapter without worring about what schema is mentioned in file adapter
please advice me is this the way File adapter works in Oracle BPEL or I am doing some thing wrong
I am using SOA suite 10.1.3.3.0 which is deployed in UNIX enviornment.
    thanks
    Yatan

    thanks Ketan ,
as you suggested, after adding validateXML to true, the XML is getting validated to the XSD in the adapter,
the process is getting invoked and the receive activity is throwing error of 'Invalid XML', this is perfect as I expected
however now the issue is, the file which is invalid in terms of XSD present in the file adapter is still being archived to 'success dir' i.e. 'LogicalArchiveDirectory', ideally it should have moved to fail directory,
but if the XML file is not complete or having some error in terms of the XSD it is refering to 'target namespace' and 'target location'
then it will move to the fail directory and the receive activity is also showing the error,
see this is how I have configured my bpel.xml file for the file adapter.

  • How to handle large data in file adapter

We have a scenario Proxy -> PI -> File Sever using File adapter.
File adapter is using FCC for conversion.
recently we had wave 2 products live and suddenly for this interface we have increase in volume of messages, due to which File adapter is not performing well, PI goes slow or frequent disconnect from file server problem. Due to which either we will have duplicate records in file or file format created is wrong.
File size is somewhere around 4.07 GB which I also think quite high for PI to handle.
Can anybody suggest how we can handle such large data.

  • Semantics File Sender Adapter to determine which files to retrieve

    Hallo,
does anybody has experience with this semantic?
    Thanks in advance,
    Frank
    From the FAQ-List of file-adapter(Note 821267 , Question 27).
Q: Which semantics does the File Sender Adapter apply to determine which files to retrieve from an FTP server?
A: Up to and including SP13 the File Adapter will issue an NLST command (see RFC 959) with the configured source file name scheme as first parameter to the FTP server. It will try to retrieve any of the files returned by the FTP server in response to this command.
Starting with SP14, the File Adapter will issue a LIST command with the configured source file name scheme as first parameter to the FTP server. If it is able to parse the returned result (which is the case for UNIX- and Windows-style directory listings), it will retrieve any of the returned files. If it cannot parse the result, it will fall back to the pre-SP14 implementation and use the NLST command as described above.

    Frank
We are on SP12 and have had problems with this and specifically, the FTP server on Solaris, not being fully RFC959 compliant.
We've had to get a different FTP Server as we were returned *.xml no file or folder found instead of 550 *.xml no file or folder found.
This increased the polling to the server, and filled up the ftp logging file, which intern filled up the partition and crasehd the server.
We got round this by installing http://www.proftpd.org/

  • Restricting polling in sender file adapter

    Hi friends,
I have a requirement where I need to poll a file from an FTP server. But, if the file is being edited (some other application is writing to it) I need to avoid picking that file. Plz tell me how i can achieve this...waiting for ur replies.

    File Locking / Incomplete Processing
Q: I sometimes observe that files are processed only partially, i.e., only a fragment from the file's start is converted into an XI message. Nevertheless, the file is usually archived completely. Does the File Sender Adapter honor if another process has locked a file for exclusive use?
A: Unfortunately, the J2EE 1.3 technology the File Adapter is built upon does not support file locking. This limitation affects the File Adapter's operation. Depending on whether the JRE implementation for the operating system under which the adapter runs uses mandatory file locking or advisory file locking, opening a file that is currently being written to by another process will fail or not.
If opening the file fails, no problem exists and the adapter will try to open the file each poll interval until it succeeds.
However, if opening the file is not prevented by the operating system, the adapter starts to process the file although it is still being modified. Since XI 3.0 SP11 / PI 7.0 there is a parameter named "Msecs to Wait Before Modification Check" in the advanced settings of the File Sender channel configuration to work around this issue. This setting causes the File Adapter to wait a certain time after reading, but before sending a file to the Adapter Engine. If the file has been modified (which is basically determined by comparing the size of the read data with the current file size of the input file) after the configured interval has elapsed, the adapter aborts the processing of the file and tries to process the file again after the retry interval has elapsed.
If this option is not available for the settings you would like to use, the following algorithm (to be implemented in your application) may be used to ensure that the File Adapter only processes completely written files:
Create the file using an extension, which does not get processed by the File Adapter, e.g., ".tmp"
    Write the file content
Rename the file to its final name, so the File Adapter will notice its existence and pick it up
    Hope this will help.
    Thanks,
    Nilesh

  • Error with Archiving Faulty Source File in Sender FTP adapter

    Hi All,
I have configured a Sender FTP adapter with Processing Mode as Archive.
I am able to read the files from FTP server and archive all the successfuly processed file in the PI aplication server directory XXX/success.
We need all the error files also to be archived on PI application server in directory XXXXX/Fail so I have checked the option Archive faulty Source Files and provided the application directory  XXXXX/Fail .
I have unchecked the option Archive Files on FTP server.
But the problem is when FTP adapter is getting any error files it is not able to archive it to application directory  XXXXX/Fail .
In RWB it is showing the error
Unable to archive faulty input file /data/abc.txt to /XXXX/fail/abc.txt
Cause: com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 rename: No such file or directory
This directory is existing and works fine when I give this directory name in Archive directory of processing mode.
Sender FTP adapter is trying to archive the file in FTP server which I dont want and giving us this error.
If I give any Directory which is present in FTP server my error files are getting archived on FTP server but not in the archived folder.
I have already unchecked the option Archive Files on FTP server.
    Please help......
    I am on PI 7.11

  • Sender file adapter conversion Error!!

    Hello every one....
I am stuck with a problem...in my scenario,, there are possiblities that file may contain more than required paramters... in such case,,, paramters defined in conversion should go ahead and others should be ignored...
for this very purpose i added the paramter:
    row.fieldSeparator                 ,
    row.fieldNames                     orderno,authcode,status
    row.endSeparator                  'nl'
    row.additionalLastFields      ignore
the scenario works fine if the file contains thrree comma separated values but it raises an error if no of paramters increase as :
Conversion of file content to XML failed at position 0: java.lang.Exception: ERROR converting
document line no. 1 according to structure 'row':java.lang.Exception: ERROR in configuration: more
elements in file csv structure than field names specified!
we are using PI 7.... does it require some more configuration in additoin to paramter row.additionalLastFields
any help in this regard would be highly appreciated...
    thanx

this parameter is already set, and this is the exact behavior i want from adapter engine...  but the problem
here is different... the exception is raised at communication channel's conversion routine level,,, the retry
interval is not the one defined in visual admin but infact the interval (polling) time defined in communication
channel.... the system does'nt stop after 3 attempts,, but infact keep on trying to read it....
one peice of information i  have found is in sap note:821267 , which states:
    *Q35:*
Q: I have configured a File Sender channel with File Content
Conversion or a custom-developed module, which may throw an
exception. When the File Adapter encounters an invalid file, which
triggers a conversion error or an exception in a module, the
adapter will enter a retry interval and upon each following
processing attempt try to process the faulty file. This basically
prevents the File Adapter from picking up files that are located
after the fauilty file according to the configured sort order. How
    can I change this behavior?
o A: This is by design. When the File Adapter encounters an invalid
file, manually remove this file from the configured source
directory. You can configure an alerting rule to get notified each
    time this occurs.
We are currently evaluating possible solutions that could be used
    to skip this manual interaction.
now can there be a way around to make communication channel read the file only 3 times (value defined in adapter engine profile in visual admin)
I have thaught of writing of module.... but the error is raised even before calling module !!
    any further clue ???

  • Cannot process a Fixed Field Length file using the File Adapter (Sender)

    Hi -
I have checked throughout these posts and blogs but I still have not been able to find a solution to my issue.  When using the File Adapter (Sender) I get a Conversion initialization failed with "xml.keyfieldName", no value found.  Why would I require a key field when I am using fixed field lenghts?  The file is comprised of 2 structures - 1 header and multiple details (see below).  There are no key fields in the flat file that I would be able to use.  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
you can use the module from which u can convert your structure to

Please note the extra H,D in the struture added by the module.
You can then use them as your key fieldValues.. The module should be deployed in Visual Admin and then can be used in the Module tab of your adapter CC
While writing the content conversion after that please dont forget about the added new characters
Please note also that i can find that the word supplier kept repeating in all the Dtachkp records
    Please use that
Also if you feel that the field is of 13 characters and that would cause a problem dont worry... create a dummy field eg split tht 13 to two fields and use the common one as key field Value and identifier... as i see in ure case its like 500 Supplier , 502 Supplier . u can split the first 4 char and the remaing 9 char are key field value.
    try this out

  • File Adapter: Fixed length file read fails when all data not present

    Hi
We have a BPEL process that reads fixed length data files. It works fine when all the data elements are available in the file but fails with 'rejected:10002' when even a single data is missing.
How to handle this situation in BPEL file adapter?
Are we doing something wrong or is this a normal functionality.
If yes, then is there any work around for this as this is a very usual business condition which may occur, where all data elements are not mandetory.

    Hi Naveen,
          Do check the following things,
    >>Note : I have been asked to give the Transport Protocol as "NFS" (Whether this is the problem???) I have summarized the complete details below. Please help me
1.If your file resides on your local network/local computer give NFS(Network file system). if your file resides on a FTP location give FTP and also give the FTP log on parameters.
    Additional Parameters
    File_MT.fieldFixedLengths 10,10,5
    File_MT.fieldNames VendorNumber,VendorName,City
    File_MT.fieldSeparator
    File_MT..processFieldNames fromConfiguration
2.If this structure does not match with the input file structure the file adapter wont pick up the file. So check for the help document provided by SAP in the following path.
    help.sap.com  --> Documentation  --> SAPNetWeaver --> SAPNetWeaver '04 --> English --> process integration --> SAP Exchange Infrastructure --> connectivity --> Adapters --> File Adapter
           Your file contains three records
    V123456789 A123456789 Bosto
    V234567890 B123456789 Atlan
    V334587900 C123456789 Austi
You have mentioned the fieldSeperator as space but there is no File_MT.endSeparator '/n'  which differentiates between each and every row (record).
Parameters for Record set Structures mentioned in the sender adapter configuration does not match with the actual file structure .
Try giving exact structures in the configuration of sender file adapter.

  • Poll interval for sender file adapter.

I have a 1_sender file NFS file adapter which picks a trigger file from X location in PI application server, this trigger file initiates the unix script present in the sender file adapter.
Unix script brings all the file which starts with 25588* from bank FTP and places in Y location in PI application server then script deletes the "trigger file".
another NFS File adapter  1_receiver file adapter places the trigger file in the X location of PI.
for 1_sender file poll interval given as 86400, that means it should trigger only once a day @ 1:30pm.
But today same sender file adapter had triggered 4 times, could any one let me know the reason why it had triggered 4 times instead of single time.

    Vidya,
    There are two things :-
    1. The polling interval should be 24 hrs;
    2. The polling interval should be 24 hrs and it should poll at 1:30 pm every day.
For any reason if the channel is re-started, then with your present configuration, you will never be able to achieve # 2.
    So, better use ATP.
But today same sender file adapter had triggered 4 times, could any one let me know the reason why it had triggered 4 times instead of single time.
Might be the connection dropped / failed at the time of polling and the channel re-tried. If you give more details (what time and with how much interval it triggered), someone might be able to help.

    Neetesh
