XI 3.0 Sender File adapter fails to initialize

Hello,
File adapter fails to initialize with error:
xml.fieldFixedLengths or xml.fieldSeparator is missing.
But in the communication channel parameters definition in the 'contents conversion parameters' box I have the following:
xml.fieldSeparator     ;
xml.endSeparator       :

Hi,
I think you have to add:
Optional: xml.addHeaderLine 0
Obligatory: try to put the ; between quotation marks like:
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Paul

  • XI 3.0 - Receiver File Adapter fails to initialize

    Hello,
In the log of the file adapter I see an error that the
parameter 'Shopping_List.fieldSeparator' is missing (Shopping_List is my recordset structure). But I have defined this parameter in the 'Content Conversion Parameters' box In the communication channel definition screen and activated.

    Hi!
Make sure: Shopping_List must be one of the nodes in Recordset structure, and not the Recordset name itself.
If this does not help, try without the underscore?
    Hope this helps!

  • Which file fails in sender file adapter

    Hi.
Is there a place in the monitoring landscape, that can tell me the filename of a file, that fails in a sender file adapter (lets say I receive files with filename *.txt).
The file adapter uses content conversion.
Right now, the RWB only tells me that something went wrong in the content conversion. The filename would be nice for people working in a CCC to forward to second level support!
    Regards...
    Peter

    Hi,
    In the sender file CC..
Check the option filename and filetype under the adapter specific attribute so  that the payload will have the filename too...which make the life easy...

  • Recordset per message in Sender File Adapter

    Hi Friends
I have configured a sender file adapter to pick up *.txt files from a specific path, Since the file is having thousands of records it is failing to process the file at  PI level . In order to avoid the problem I have kept Recordset Set Per Message as 10 , but still PI is processing all the records into a single message. Please help me in troubleshooting it.

    Hi XI gurus,
I am facing a problem in sender file adapter communcation channel
Is there any restriction in XI that XI picks max of 100 at a time .
Actaully probolem here is My XI sender file adapter need to pick 2800 file from ftp.
adapter need to file pick files ranging SAP_OUT_066581_280_INV.xml to SAP_OUT_SZ22TXN066581_2800_INV.xml
to pick these we have given file name as u201CSAP_OUT_*_INV.xmlu201D when ever given this XI is coming with no messges.
when ever file name is given as SAP_OUT_SZ22TXN066581_3*_INV.xml it XI has picked file from 300 to 399
when eve tried with the options to pick all the message

like this I am increaing the number and picking maximum of 100 messages only
Is there any way to auto mate this or nny file names need to be required
    waiting for your reply

Check SAP Note 821267 - FAQ: XI 3.0 / PI 7.0/ PI 7.1 File Adapter.
I guess point 8 might relate to your problem if the FTP adapter timeout occurs.
check the note 849089 as well.
Also check point 13 and 26.

  • Using wildcards (*) in sender file adapter - FTP type

    Hi guys!
Dooes it work using wildcards in sender file adapter (FTP type(!) (filesystem obviously work))? I tried it and it failed. it works only for exact name..
I read some articles about FTP and the result is, that ftp work always only with 1 file, so I'm wondering, if this is possible.
    Thanks for info!
    Olian

    Thanks for all replies..
I know of course, that * can be used, I use it in many scenarios too. But on a FileSystem. It is not working if the sender type is FTP.
*, ., *.dat, ...  nothing like that works..  Just exact file name.
I am able to pick up file, if I specify it's exact name, so there should be no problem with permissions..
Please, I'd appreciate one reply with comfirmation: yes, we are using asterisk (*) , we access source files via FTP and they are processed.
Is there anybody with this experience, that it works?
    Thank you!

  • Sender File Adapter Bespoke Module Development

I have been following the How To ... Create Modules for the J2EE Adapter Engine to create a bespoke module for the Sender File Adapter.
Initially all the module does is write a message to the Augit Log. The module has been deployed to XI successfully. When I add the module to the sender file adapter the adapter is green in the adapter monitor but I get the following message in the message monitor ....
"Attempt to process file failed with Path to object does not exist at com.kk.FileAdapter, the whole lookup name is localejbs/sap.com/com.kk.FileAdapter/WriteToLog."
com.kk.FileAdapter is the package. All of the required files have been built as per the How To pdf.
    Does anyone have any ideas??

    Hi Satish,
    Thanks for the quick response.
Using the fully qualified name I get the following error in the adapter monitor.
"Last message processing started 18:32:11 2005-09-19, Error: Module Exception 'com.sap.aii.af.mp.processor.ModuleProcessorException' found, cause: com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NameNotFoundException: Path to object does not exist at BANKSenderFileAdapterEAP, the whole lookup name is localejbs/sap.com/BANKSenderFileAdapterEAP/WriteToLog."
If is use the JNDI name I do not get an error in the Adapter Monitor but get the following error in the Message Monitor.
"Attempt to process file failed with Path to object does not exist at BANKSenderFileAdapterEAP, the whole lookup name is localejbs/sap.com/BANKSenderFileAdapterEAP/WriteToLog."
The rest of the message seems to be successful, only the run of the module.
    Any ideas??
    Many thanks

  • Sender File Adapter: No Messages

    Hi,
I have configured a sender file adapter to read a flat file using file format conversion, in the file poler mode using NFS. I could confirm that the File is being read, and the adapter status from the Adapter framework (is:port/AdapterFramework) indicates the adapter is working fine (Green light, and last message processed at XXX........).
However, I did not find any messages from SXMB_MONI.
Further, I got inot the RWB, and found the following Audit log:
It indicates an error "Transmitting the message to endpoint http://kansbwul01:50000/sap/xi/engine/entry?action=execute using connection AFW failed, due to: Received HTTP response code 404.."
What is the problem, and how can I resolve it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Further to my earlier post, the following is the message log from the message monitor. Any clues whats going wrong. Can I configure a File Sender->File Receiver scenario?

  • Sender file adapter missingLastFields Parameter

    hi all,
    i have a wierd problem...
i use a sender file adapter with content conversion to read the data of a file.
all is fine until he get to a record when the last couple of fields are not in the file (and it's ok that they don't appear). i want the adapter to put no data in the last couple of fields but convert them to the XML tags.
i am using the parameters: missingLastFields and keepIncompleteFields to keep the fields although they don't appear in the file.
the parameters i am using are these:
    SA140.fieldNames:
    ActionCode,UpdateType,IDNumber,Filler1,RecordCode,Filler2,ExteriorColour1,Filler3,ExteriorColour2,Filler4,ExteriorColour3,Filler5,ExteriorColour4,Filler6,ExteriorColour5,Filler7,ColourArea1,Filler8,ColourArea2,Filler9,ColourArea3,Filler10,ColourArea4,Filler11,ColourArea5,Filler12,TireCode1,Filler13,TireCode2,Filler14,TireCode3,Filler15,TireCode4,Filler16,TireCode5
    SA140.fieldFixedLengths:
    2,2,10,4,3,41,5,1,5,1,5,1,5,1,5,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,6,10,6,10,6,10,6,10,6
    SA140.keyFieldValue:
    140
    SA140.missingLastFields:
Ignore (i used the parameter "add" too and it still didn't work)
    SA140.keepIncompleteFieids
    true
the row i am trying to read is:
    024018837002186 21140         1799    KW16    RW17    1010    9147                                         F18L19     7503 F18L19     7502 F18K27     7508
as you see a couple of the last fields are showing in the text.
could you please tell what am i doing wrong?
maybe there is another parameter i missed?
    regards,
    roi grosfeld

sorry but it still doesn't work...
i am getting the same error:
Conversion of file content to XML failed at position 0: java.lang.Exception: ERROR converting document line no. 5 according to structure 'SA140':java.lang.Exception: Consistency error: last field in structure 'SA140.' is incomplete - specify 'keepIncompleteFields' parameter accordingly to allow this

  • Sender File adapter and duplicate file processing

If I set the sender file adapter to delete or archive and when a file gets picked up and processed, this file will not get deleted/archived unless it was successfully processed.  However, if it errors out during processing, the file remains but it's message will get persisted in the integration engine or adapter engine.  Since there's automatic retry, we have the potential for duplicate processing as in addition to the retry, the file is still continously polling for this file.  In other words, how do we stop this duplicate file processing?
    Thanks.

    Hi Bevan,
However, if it errors out during processing, the file remains but it's message will get persisted in the integration engine or adapter engine.
your file wont get deleted unless adapter engine sucesfull pickups. if does not picked up at adapter engine then is not stored in adapter engine . if it reached Intergation Server and failed their then file would be deleted.
please let me know if you haveany questions

  • Issue with Sender File Adapter

    Hi,
In Sender File Adapter I have used content convertion. If the content convetion fails or the channel goes to error state, the sender file channel stops polling. The channel is not polling in the next interval once it goes to error state.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Aravind

    Hi,
    That's true.
If one file fails to process due error in content coversion or for any other reason, the channel would stop polling for the next time and also would not process the files following it.
Please correct the content conversion and process the file.
    Regards,

  • Poll interval for sender file adapter.

I have a 1_sender file NFS file adapter which picks a trigger file from X location in PI application server, this trigger file initiates the unix script present in the sender file adapter.
Unix script brings all the file which starts with 25588* from bank FTP and places in Y location in PI application server then script deletes the "trigger file".
another NFS File adapter  1_receiver file adapter places the trigger file in the X location of PI.
for 1_sender file poll interval given as 86400, that means it should trigger only once a day @ 1:30pm.
But today same sender file adapter had triggered 4 times, could any one let me know the reason why it had triggered 4 times instead of single time.

    Vidya,
    There are two things :-
    1. The polling interval should be 24 hrs;
    2. The polling interval should be 24 hrs and it should poll at 1:30 pm every day.
For any reason if the channel is re-started, then with your present configuration, you will never be able to achieve # 2.
    So, better use ATP.
But today same sender file adapter had triggered 4 times, could any one let me know the reason why it had triggered 4 times instead of single time.
Might be the connection dropped / failed at the time of polling and the channel re-tried. If you give more details (what time and with how much interval it triggered), someone might be able to help.

  • FCC Send File Adapter - missingLastFields not working

    Hi
I have a flat file to capture using the sender File adapter
    Parameter as follows:
    Header_fieldNames : Key,Name,StaffID,Telephone
    Header_fieldFixedLengths :  2,12,10,8
    Header_endSeparator : 'nl'
    Line_fieldNames : Key,Address,Company,LineText
    Line_fieldFixedLengths :  2,20,20,40
However there are times where last field come in missing.
    Hence I use the Header_missingLastFields : error
                              Line_missingLastFields : error
However it does not seem to be working as the adapter fails to pick the file from the FTP folder
but if I  replace error with ignore, the sender adapter picked the files and process and send to the receiver adapter.
I need to flagged error in sxmb_moni if last field or last few fields are missing....any advise how could this be achieve ?
    Regards
    Fred

    Hi Freddy,
I think you might like to specify missingLastFields = add. then it will add the missing fields as empty. you can further check if these are empty in mapping and then fail the message or create an alert.
If you specify "ignore" then you will not get those fields in your structure and if you specify "error" then the file will not be picked up.
    have a look here
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2c/181077dd7d6b4ea6a8029b20bf7e55/content.htm
    missingLastfields
If the inbound structure has less fields than specified in the configuration then the XML outbound structure is created as follows:
    ○       ignore
Outbound structure only contains the fields in the inbound structure
    ○       add
Outbound structure contains all fields from the configuration; the fields missing in the inbound structure are empty.
    ○       error
Conversion is terminated due to the incomplete inbound structure. An error message is displayed

  • File adapter fails to pickup the complete file

    Hi Guys,
I have a file to idoc scenario configured.
Sender is an FTP server and the file type is XML
Here are the details of my file adapter
    FTP Connection parameters,
    Connect Mode      : Permanently
    Transfer Mode     : Binary
    Processing parameters,
    QoS     : Exactly Once
    Poll Interval     : 15 secs
    Processing Mode     : Archive
Most of the time my scenario works perfectly fine.
And sometimes my file adapter fails to pickup the complete xml file and my scenario fails.
The file is read partially and my mapping throws an error.
Am i missing any parameter to be set in File adapter???
    Thanks in Advance,
    BBnu

    >>The file is read partially and my mapping throws an error.
Thats the normal behaviour of XI,if you get a partial file, you will get a error message.
There are several work arounds for this, first of all have a script independant of XI which is running on FTP server, this script will keep on checking for modifications in file and once the file is completely written,it will rename the file to some other extension(for e.g .dat) and XI file adapter will only pick .dat file, this will make sure that only complete files are picked up.
Second option is to have a tag all the way in the end of XML which says EOF(of any other character),in your mesage mappin create the root node of target only if this last tag is EOF.Since in incomplete file you will not have this last tag, message processing will stop.
    Thanx
    Aamir
