  • For a beginner to work in Oracle EBS, Which is better start, support project or implementation?

    Dear Experts,
    I have just joined a company which works on Oracle ERP. and i have been assigned to a support project with an idea that there i will have more opportunities to learn and then I can shift over to Implementation project. Since I am a fresher I have no clue How the career growth goes. So my question is whether I should first take support and then Implementation or I should Take an Implementation Project Directly.
    Secondly I want to know what are differences In Roles and Responsibilities as a fresher in Support and Implementation projects.

  • Switchting from Reference implementation to MyFaces

    Hi,
    one year ago I developed a JSF-software using Tomcat 5.5.7 and SUNs reference implementation, which worked fine. Now I try to replace it by MyFaces and I get this error navigating to the first page:
    javax.faces.FacesException: org.apache.jasper.JasperException
    org.apache.myfaces.context.servlet.ServletExternalContextImpl.dispatch(ServletExternalContextImpl.java:425)
    org.apache.myfaces.application.jsp.JspViewHandlerImpl.renderView(JspViewHandlerImpl.java:234)
    org.apache.myfaces.lifecycle.LifecycleImpl.render(LifecycleImpl.java:352)
    javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet.service(FacesServlet.java:107)
    There is no protocol entry in the TOMCAT logs directory. The only thing I did was replacing the related jars, which should be the only thing to do, as I understand the concept ;-). Any idea what the reason could be?
    Thanks
    Thorsten

    Here's a decent discussion of listeners in TLDs. Ideally you should only put listeners relevant to a particular taglib in the associated TLD. So it would be wise to move the MyFaces Listener up to the web.xml, because it's not tied to any particular taglib. But in this case you're correct, the taglib listeners are being invoked in addition to any listeners you may have defined directly in the web.xml
    http://www.phptr.com/articles/article.asp?p=26118&seqNum=6&rl=1
    I generally think of TLDs as descriptor files that provide required definitions for a particular taglib (namespace, individual tag info), metadata info that may be useful for development and debugging tools (assorted optional meta-data for the tags), and any instructions for web-application global behavior that may be needed to support the individual tags (listeners)

  • Inconsistency using SUN Rowset Reference Implementation

    I am Using the RowSet reference implemention with Oracle Database.
    I am having a class which takes a input in form of XML adhering to the webrowset format.
    The xml contains some records to be inserted , some records to be updated and some records to be deleted.
    This xml is then fed to a WebRowSet using the webRowSet.readXml method which takes a Reader as a parameter. I am using a StringReader here.
    Here is the code snippet:-
    public void executeUpdate(String webRowSetXML)throws SQLComponentException{
    System.out.println(" webRowSetXML "+webRowSetXML);
    StringReader sr = new StringReader(webRowSetXML);
    WebRowSet webRowSet = null;
    try {
    webRowSet = new WebRowSetImpl();
    webRowSet.readXml(sr);
    webRowSet.acceptChanges(connection);
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    // TODO Auto-generated catch block
    e.printStackTrace();
    I found here that the insertion and updating works without any problem , but the deletion doesn't work.
    Then to study this problem , i wrote a program with two WebRowSets, one will be the producer of the data and the other will be the consumer.
    the first WebRowSet will read the data from the data source , delete a record using the following piece of code:-
    wrs1.absolute(6);
    wrs1.deleteRow();
    And then i generate a String XML using the writeXML method.
    Then i feed this xml to the readXML method of the second WebRowSet and i call the acceptChanges method of the second WebRowSet. But the record doesn't get deleted.Also after printing the xml from the second WebRowSet , the <deleteRow> tag is absent from the xml.
    The same condition works properly for the insert and update operation and the respective <insertRow> and <updateRow> methods appear in both the xml's generated from both the WebRowSet's.
    Is this a bug in the webRowSet implemention or is it a problem of Oracle? Or is it that something else needs to be done for the delete operation to work.
    I tried the same thing with Pervasive SQL instead of oracle. Here only the insert operation works.
    Any body please help me in solving this problem...

    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/javax/sql/RowSet.html
    From the sun desc above.
    The RowSet interface is unique in that it is intended to be implemented using the rest of the JDBC API. In other words, a RowSet implementation
    is a layer of software that executes "on top" of a JDBC driver.
    Implementations of the RowSet interface can be provided by anyone,
    including JDBC driver vendors who want to provide a RowSet
    implementation as part of their JDBC products.

  • Connecting JMS to J2EE Reference Implementation 1.3 beta

    Is it possible to write JMS client talking with J2EE server without having in path j2ee.jar? Something like remote small client communicating with the server due JMS? Do I have to use some third party
    software (I have swiftMQ in mind) for this? If somebody have configuration for swift bridge to J2EE
    Refernce Implementation can you share it?

    The JMS service provider that comes with J2EE SDK 1.3 is only a reference implementation of the JMS API.
    In a real application system, one will be using a JMS service provider from some vendor. Preferably one that is certified to be J2EE compatible.
    In fact, this is true as such for anything in j2ee.jar Through j2ee.jar, Sun provides a reference implementation of J2EE APIs with its J2EE SDK and in a real application one will not have j2ee.jar in the client or server classpath. Instead one will use jar files specific to the vendor that one has chosen.
    Specifically about swiftMQ, as per Sun, it is not a J2EE licensee. swiftMQ is JMS 1.0.2 compliant. But it is not certified to be J2EE compatible.
    Refer http://java.sun.com/products/jms/nonlicensedvendors.html for more details.

  • How to detect which implementation JSF 2 (Myfaces or Mojarra) used in my Primefaces project?

    Hello.
    OS: [Windows 2008 R2, Win XP], JDK: 1.7.0_76, AS: GlassFish 4.0, IDE: Netbeans 7.4, JSF2: [ Mojarra 2.2.10, Myfaces 2.2.7], Primefaces: 5.1.
    1. I create & deploy web application, it use mojarra. Everything is good, run.
    2. In Netbeans I create Library for Myfaces-<version>.jar & dependence's jar. Include the Lib to project properties. Clean-Build project. Deploy to GlassFish. Everything is good, run.
    Does Glassfish use to execute Myfaces as implementation JSF 2? Or it run your installed Mojarra?
    Any help appreciable. Best regards.

    For Mojarra see the following blog entry

  • Why not porting CDC-PP reference implementation to PocketPC by ourself?

    Hi All,
    Seeing your open letter about Personal Profile for PocketPC, I have the question: Why not porting CDC-PP reference implementation to PocketPC by ourself? Or do you know any open source project on this topic?
    in Java world, we should DIY (eclipse, Junit, ANT......)
    Regards!
    Tiger

    Sorry, I missed the "reference implementation" in the subject. Can you even get the thing to compile? Taking a guess at which of the umpteen makefiles to use, I get pjt33@charis:/tmp/personal/build/share/$ make -f rules.mk
    rules.mk:289: /empty.mk: No such file or directory
    rules.mk:394: warning: overriding commands for target `/'
    rules.mk:20: warning: ignoring old commands for target `/'
    rules.mk:422: *** target file `/' has both : and :: entries.  Stop.There are also licencing issues with using the reference implementation - if you want to distribute it properly, it seems you have to pay Sun an annual fee for the Technology Compatibility Kit.

  • License for using JMX Remote API  Reference Implementation

    Is JMX Remote API Reference Implementation open source one?
    Can we use JMX Remote API Reference Implementation with commercial products?

    Hi,
    I am not a lawyer.
    If you're referring to the JMX RI binary downloads available from here:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/core/mntr-mgmt/javamanagement/download.jsp
    then please click on the download button and then review the license agreement.
    You will see that this is not the GPL license.
    As such these downloads are not "open source".
    However the JMX API is also part of the OpenJDK project - and the OpenJDK project
    itself is open source. The OpenJDK project has a NetBeans IDE JMX project that will
    let you easily work with the JMX sources.
    See http://openjdk.java.net/groups/jmx/ for more details.
    You can review the OpenJDK license agreement and download the OpenJDK sources
    from http://openjdk.java.net/
    The OpenDMK Project contains an open source implementation of the JMXMP
    connector for the JMX API - which is the optional JMX connector defined in the
    JMX Remote API 1.0 specification. The JMXMP connector is not part of the OpenJDK
    project, but is open sourced by the OpenDMK project.
    You can review the OpenDMK license agreement and download the sources and
    binaries of the OpenDMK project from here:
    http://opendmk.dev.java.net/
    For an exact description of what you can or can't do with any of these various sources
    and binaries, please read the license agreements that come with each of them.
    I hope this helps,

  • Which is better for performance Azure SQL Database or SQL Server in Azure VM?

    Hi,
    We are building an ASP.NET app that will be running on Microsoft Cloud which I think is the new name for Windows Azure. We're expecting this app to have many simultaneous users and want to make sure that we provide excellent performance to end users.
    Here are our main concerns/desires:
    Performance is paramount. Fast response times are very very important
    We want to have as little to do with platform maintenance as possible e.g. managing OS or SQL Server updates, etc.
    We are trying to use "out-of-the-box" standard features.
    With that said, which option would give us the best possible database performance: a SQL Server instance running in a VM on Azure or SQL Server Database as a fully managed service?
    Thanks, Sam

    hello,
    SQL Database using shared resources on the Microsft data centre. Microsoft balance the resource usage of SQL Database so that no one application continuously dominates any resource.You can try the
    Premium Preview
    for Windows Azure SQL Database which offers better performance by guaranteeing a fixed amount of dedicated resources for a database.
    If you using SQL Server instance running in a VM, you control the operating system and database configuration. And the
    performance of the database depends on many factors such as the size of a virtual machine, and the configuration of the data disks.

  • Which is better for servers, Apache or Tomcat?

    Which is better for servers, Apache or Tomcat?

    For some reason that link I gave you isn't working right now, but it was today, weird. I would get Tomcat simple because sun uses it in its examples and recommends it. Here's sun's link then, it's probably more useful anyway. http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/

  • Which is better. . . a Canon Sure Shot or a Canon Power Shot?

    I need to purchase a camera good enough to get good close-ups for items to sell on eBay.  Which is better...a Canon Sure Shot or a Canon Power Shot?

    Hi, leigh8389, thanks for posting!
    If you're looking for a currently-produced digital camera, we would suggest purchasing a PowerShot camera.  You'll find that our PowerShots offer the very best in macro capability, color reproduction, portability, and convenience for digital editing and printing.
    For your reference, our Sure Shot line of cameras operated exclusively on 35mm film rather than digital memory cards, and was produced from the mid 1990s-the mid 2000s.
    Additionally, please feel free to check out our Canon Direct Sales store at shop.usa.canon.com, where you can explore Canon's latest Powershot models; we hope this helps!

  • Coding Preference ..Which is better for memory?

    Hey all,
    Javas garbage collection is sweet. However, I was reading somewhere that setting some objects to null after I'm done with them will actually help.
    (help what .. I'm not sure.. my guess is memory used by the JVM)
    Thus I have two ways to do the same thing and I'd like to hear peoples comments on which is "better" ... or will yield faster performance.
    Task: I have a Vector of Strings (called paths) that hold absolute file paths. (Don't ask why I didn't use a String[]) I'd like to check and see if they exist, and if not, create them... I'll use the createNewFile() method for that.
    Method A -- Here I'll reuse that File object
    public void myMethod()throws Exception{
    File file = null;
    for(int i = 0; i < paths.size(); i++){
      file = new File(paths.get(i).toString());
      boolean made  = file.createNewFile();
      if(made){doSomething();}
    file = null;
    }Method B -- Here I'll use um... "dynamically made" ones that I won't eventually be set back to null
    public void myMethod()throws Exception{
    for(int i = 0; i < paths.size(); i++){
      boolean made  = (new File(paths.get(i).toString())).createNewFile();
      if(made){doSomething();}
    }So when the code eventually exists myMethod, the object "file" will be out of scope and trashed.... correct? If thats the case, then would there be any other differences between the two implementations?
    Thanks

    There's no real difference between the two. Choose the style you prefer,
    although in the first one I'd lose the "file = null" statement since that
    variable is about to disappear, and I'm move the definition into the loop
    -- always give variables as small a scope as possible, mainly to
    keep the logic simple:
    public void myMethod()throws Exception{
        for(int i = 0; i < paths.size(); i++){
            File file= new File(paths.get(i).toString());
            boolean made  = file.createNewFile();
             if(made){doSomething();}
    }

  • Which is better Apple Ear Pods vs. In Ear Earbuds

    So which is better? I can't really tell the difference because there like the same. Unless I'm not paying attention to the bass and tremble.

    Haven't tried multiple EAR files before but encountered constraints when using one EAR file.
    For example, we may need to wait for another colleague to complete his portion on programming so that we can proceed to implement the entire EAR file. Is this also a constraint for multiple EAR files application ?
    If we can separate the EAR files into different modules, different colleagues can work on different modules concurrently. It could be more efficient... Is that the case ??

  • Open GL Vs Quartz - Which is better for 2D game development?

    Hi,
    I am new to iphone game development. I want to create 2D game. Simple game with objects moving around.
    I never used Open GL as well as Quartz. For this game I am planing to study that.
    I want to know which is better from OpenGL or Quartz?
    And where I can learn more on that?
    Thanks,
    Ganesh Pisal

    I would recommend against OpenGL for a 2D game. Quartz does a lot of work to avoid updating parts of the screen that haven't changed, something OpenGL doesn't do. The iPhone's implementation of OpenGL has other serious performance issues.

  • Which is better? Extend JFrame or Wrap it in a class???

    Just a random thought, have been programming swing for a long time now and during the time have been researhed a lot of swing examples on web and found out that most people tend to make a class extend JFrame in order to use it stuff.
    However the way i've been programming is to wrap it around a class by creating an instance of JFrame inside my class. In that way i feel is more easier to program.
    But which is better style of programming and which is better programming technique in terms of robustness, reusablitity & good general programming practice?

    The usual answer, it depends. If you don't want to change a JFrame's behaviour, you wrap it. If the JFrame class is lacking a feature you need, you extend it and implement the desired feature.
