Which JDeveloper Version?

Hi all,
I'm starting to write some java. I have JDeveloper 9.0.4.2 installed on my machine. Should I download the most current version before I start working, or is what I have sufficient? If I D/L a 10.x version, should I go with the current offering of 10.1.3.1 or one of the archived versions?
Thanks!
Scott

Scott,
Pardon me if I am stating the obvious, but wouldn't the JDeveloper and ADF forum be more appropriate for your question?
I don't use JDeveloper, but I would suggest that if you haven't started your development yet, then you should use the latest JDeveloper -- since it's a free product, anyway. Keep in mind though, that if you are going to use the latest JDeveloper then you should also probably be using the latest Oracle database as well. (Just my opinion.)
Good Luck,
Avi.

  • Oracle BPEL Server version 10.1.3.4.0  - which JDeveloper version?

    Hi,
I am working on a Beehive project, that has a BPEL 10.1.3.4.0 server integrated. Is there a restriction concerning the JDeveloper version to use for development? I am currently using JDev 11.1.1.2.0 , but noticed that there is no possibilty to directly deploy to an OC4J connection type. So I figured that there might be incompatibilities.
    Thanks for any pointers.
    Bettina

According to me JDeveloper versions 10.1.3.3 or 10.1.3.4 or 10.1.3.5 - all are good for your scenario as you are using Oracle BPEL 10g.
But for JDeveloper version 11.1.1.2.0, I will keep my reservations as the concept that how BPEL projects are created, packaged and deployed (i.e. SCA suites) are changed considerably from 10g to 11g. Hence I will suggest to stick to any JDeveloper 10.1.3.x version for your scenario. You can download them from archived section of JDeveloper downloads on Oracle website.
    Thanks.

  • [Newbie] Which JDeveloper version for latest ADF Mobile?

    Hi.
I was going to upgrade to JDeveloper 12c, but the download page says "Download JDeveloper 11.1.2.4 to leverage ADF Mobile".
Does that mean that for the purpose of using ADF Mobile - which is indeed my intension - I should use 11.1.2.4 instead of the latest 12c? Or should I install 12c and will I still have full use of ADF Mobile?
    Thanks.
    Joseph

Yes, this is correct. At the moment ADF Mobile development is done using 11.1.2.4.0 instead of 12c.
With the next release of 12c (12.1.3)  we should see adf mobile in 12c version. However, as I'm not an Oracle employee, I can't guarantee this. We have to wait and see what we get.
Doing your development in 11.1.2.4.0 is already using some features of 12c and an later upgrade to 12c should not be painful.

  • Which XSLT versions are support by Oracle BPEL? v1.1  or v2.0?

Which XSLT versions are support by Oracle BPEL? v1.1 or v2.0?
As far as I heard v1.1 is the highest version but some functions of v2.0 are supported as well.
    Is this true?
If yes: Which XSLT functions of v2.0 are supported?
Does it matter if I change the
    version="1.1"
    attribute in the topmost
    <xsl:stylesheet......>
    tag?
    Which XSLT processor is built-in/used?
    Peter

XSL mapper in BPEL supports 1.0 only in-built. And this is true for 11g also. However, we can declare <xsl:stylesheet version = 2.0 ... and use all xpath 2.0 functions. I have used few of them and has been successful so far. Once you declare version as 2.0 the only issue will be that XSL's visual GUI mapper will not work in JDeveloper and you will need to modify the code from the source.

  • Which Oracle Version to D/L?

    I am so frustrated.
I don't know which oracle version to download.
I have oracle enterprise 9i, but it doesn't have formsbuilder, jdeveloper, query builder etc...
a frienf of mine recently d/l oracle9i, I don't know which ver, but he said it came with
    all of the above.
My problem is this, I could go and download all of the above seperately..but do you how much
Gigs, that's gigabytes of HDD space this will take up?
Right now oracle is consuming a whopping 2 gigs+ of HDD space.
If I download the collaboration suite, it's another Gig for d/l and who knows how big after decompression.
I feel strongly about now wasting another full 2 gigs of space...
my aquantence, rather, not really a friend, his oracle installation is only taking up 1.8+ gigs of space.
    Why the drastic Difference?
I am wondering if anyone here knows of a decent d/l that contains all of the oracle software:
SQl*Plus, Form Builder, Query Builder, Jdeveloper etc... in one single package?
    thank you for your time.

This is not a FAQ. Please do not use the FAQ type unless you are posting the answer to a commonly asked question.
Forms, Reports, etc comes in the Oracle 9i Developer Suite. This is available for download from OTN. Follow Downloads > Developer Suite. They are separate downloads because they are aimed at different communities. Many people who want the database - DBAs, PL/SQL app programmers - have no interest in Forms, etc. Conversely many pople who want the development tools don't want to install a database on their desktop.
I don't know how big the 9iDS zip is, but the total installation eats up about 1.9 gigabytes. This is a corollary of Parkinson's Law: software expands to fill the hard disk storage available.
    Cheers, APC

  • Oracle Strategy for the UIX & BC4J in the new JDeveloper version

What is Oracle Strategy for the UIX & BC4J in the new JDeveloper version:
    - Like DataBinding
    - BC4J Integration
    - UIX controller
    - Internationalization
    - Supporting for Palm, phone and pager.

    Hi,
Are these questions all BC4J specific?
General databinding info is discussed here:
What's the developement direction of UIX?
For BC4J/UIX integration, in 9.0.5 we will continue to support our existing api's, but you can also use uix as the view and bc4j as the model in adf, which is described here:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/905/sod_otn.html#adf
Aside from bug fixes, I don't think there are major changes in the controller/internationization. Did you have specific questions about the controller and internationalization?
We are planning to support Palm web browser 2.0, but due to the timing of the release of a platform that supports it and our own schedules, I don't think it will be officially supported in the 9.0.5 release. We won't have phone or pager support in 9.0.5.

We have no experience with this. I advice you to post a question in the JDeveloper forum and see if the JDeveloper Wizard supports UIX 2.1.20, because that is the version of UIX that will be used after you copied the UIX libraries we supply. If not, you should restore the libraries as delivered with JDeveloper.

Version 2.1.20 is beyond 2.1.7. I don't know what version is delivered with JDeveloper 9.0.3 but I as far as I know, JDeveloper 9.0.4 comes with UIX version 2.1.19.
I do not think there is that much difference between the UIX version as delivered with JDeveloper and 2.1.20, that you cannot succesfully use the online UIX Developers Guide of JDeveloper. For questions about UIX, please refer to the UIX forum (technologies -> UIX) or the JDeveloper forum.

Be sure to do a backup before updating as protection. Photos should
be synced with your computer, music should be in iTunes, documents
should be backed up on your computer as should contacts in whatever
program you use on your computer. You should already have backups
of your important information to prevent loss in case of theft, crash,
physical damage. The question is not if your hard drive will crash but
when, and you iPhone is not a backup device nor fit for the only
source of any document, picture, music, movie, contact or otherwise
    irreplaceable information.

    Hai Guys,
I am Thiyagu. I have one Doubt in DAQmx. If One year before my senior create One VI. The VI Labview Version 8.2.1. Lastweek running VI Harddisk was crased. I have only source code. I pasted that source code in another PC. I opened that source code It shows DAQmx Write file.VI was Missing. So  i searced Daq file and I find it. So i Pasted that Vi in Source code It shows Labview 11 error. Currnt labview Version is 8.6 and DAQ version 8.8. So kindly tell me How to slove this issue and Which DAQmx Version is suitable for 8.2.1
    Please do the needfull.

Any DAQmx should work, I use the latest with LV7.1. You can download it from ni.com or use the CDs supplied with your hardware.
The mistake you made was to copy the missing VIs. You need to run the DAQmx installer instead (after installing LV, so it can detect which LV versions to support).

  • Pan and Zoom Effect, which PE version introduced it?

I like my PE 3.0 but it does not seem to offer the Pan and Zoom effect. Or am I just not seeing it.  Does anyone know which later version introduced it? I know 8.0 has it, but when did it come along?  The bundled version of Photoshop 5.0 it came with has a pan slide show, just discovered it.
Also, I am familiar with keyframes, would this be helpful with 3.0 pan? or do I need a newer version.  Any tutorials good for this?
    thank you

Pan & Zoom is available in all versions that offer Keyframing on the fixed Effects>Motion>Scale (Zoom) and Motion>Position (Pan). What might have been introduced would be Presets to do those with "one button." Do not know when those came into being. I do not use them in PrE 4, and would not in PrE 8, or 9, as I want control, and also the ability to determine what MY subject is, in an image. No amount of AI can do that for me, so a simple Preset stands about a zero chance of doing exactly what I want.
At some point, PSE added the automatic Random Pan & Zoom. Again, were I doing a slideshow in it, I would not apply such, as i would Keyframe Motion>Position and Motion>Scale in PrE.
In PrE 3, I feel strongly that you have the Effects Control Panel (accessed via Edit Effects for a Clip/still), and the ability to Keyframe both Motion>Scale and Motion>Position. This allows one adjust the parameters for those Effects over time, i.e. create a Zoom, and create a Pan. Other than the fact that you do these by hand, by eye and by mind, but with ultimate control, you have the features - just not automatically applied via a single button.
    Good luck,

  • OAS 10G (10.1.2.0.0) / Certified JDeveloper Version?

    Hello!
I want to upgrade to the latest OAS Version 10g (10.1.2.0.0), but i don't know, what JDeveloper version is certified for developing and deploying J2EE - applications on 10.1.2.0.0 ?
e.g. it seems that JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.2) uses as embedded oc4j-container version 10g(9.0.4.0.0) and not version 10g(10.1.2).
    Thank you!
    Harald.

    Harald,
this doesn't limit your ability ot deploy to a higher version of Oracle Application Server. The embedded OC4J is used for testing purposes. If you want to test with OC4J 10.1.x then you can install it stand-alone and test against this instace from JDeveloper

  • WLC: which software-version support SHA2 certificates for Web Authentification and Web Management ?

    Hello,
I tried to install new SHA2 3th-Party certificates on our WLCs. There are old WiSM1-Boards and 2504 to support our old 1230 Access Points, running 7.0.251.2, which didn't install it, although the config manual for 7.6 and 8.0 say that SHA2 certificates are supported since 7.0.250.0. When I tried to install the SHA2-certificates I get the message "File transfer failed" an the log says:
    *TransferTask: Dec 12 13:22:14.394: #UPDATE-3-CERT_INST_FAIL: updcode.c:1869 Failed to install Webauth certificate. rc = 1
*TransferTask: Dec 12 13:22:14.394: #SSHPM-3-KEYED_PEM_DECODE_FAILED: sshpmcert.c:4085 Cannot PEM decode private key
I tried to install the same certificates on our WiSM2-Boards, running 7.4.121.0 and I failed too. The same certificates could be installed on a 2504 running 8.0.100 without any problems.
In all 3 cases I tried to install unchained certificates for web management and Level 3 chained certificates  for web authentication. I used the following guides to get the certificates (e.g. taken from the config manual 8.0.100):
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/4400-series-wireless-lan-controllers/109597-csr-chained-certificates-wlc-00.html
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wlan-security/70584-csr-wlc-00.pdf
Which software versions support SHA2 certificates and which didn't ? Is the a list for it ?
    Regards

    Hello,
I solved the problem. First I used a Debian Linux system with Openssl 1.0.1. After I searched the internet using one of the log messages above I found sites which mentioned to use Openssl 0.9.x. So I tried a productive and security fixes Debian Linux System running Openssl 0.9.8 and I succeeded. The wlcs accepted the certificate files and used it after a reboot. The Web GUI still shows a SHA1 Fingerprint, but the certificate signature Algorithm is SHA2:
    Signature Algorithm: sha256WithRSAEncryption
When you check the openssl.org homepage Openssl 0.9.8 is still one of the actual version of openssl and is still available and fixed. But the Openssl Roadmap says:
"We don't want to have to maintain too many branches. This is likely to include a timescale for the EOL of version 0.9.8"
I don't know the differences between certificates made with openssl 0.9.8 and 1.0.1. Is there anybody who can explain it to me ?

  • Jdeveloper version and ADF runtime on weblogic

    Hi
I would need to understand the link between the jdeveloper version and the Weblogic version.
    Based on this article http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/jdeveloper-versions-vs-weblogic-server-versions/
it sounds like the server version to use is directly linked to the version of ADF used for the development. It is true?
Specially is it true that there is not backward compatibility. A new weblogic server would not support a application that would have been developed with a older version of jdeveloper?
At the end I would like to get all my weblogic servers on the same version and as much possible on the newest version but if I need to rework the applications that were developed on a previous version of ADF , that can be really time consuming.
I would need best practice ideas .
When I have various projects oven a two -three years period how should we deal with keeping up with the new versions of weblogic and jdeveloper?
An another question I have is regarding the ADF run time. What is so special about it comparing to a regular set of libraries?. Why can I not deploy it as part of my application? Or is it possible and it is a better path then?
FInal point, I have a application that was developed with jdeveloper 11.1.1.0 and run on weblogic 10.3.0.0 . I would like to migrate to jdeveloper 11.1.1.4. I already converted the project with jdeveloper 11.1.1.4. What should I do next? What testing should I do to verfy the conversion worked? Should I update the weblogic server to 10.3.4 or can I go with a newer version like 10.3.5?
    Thanks

Ok but then if you don't migrate and you are in a environment with also new development you are going to need many different servers no?
One welogic server for jdevleoper 11.1.0.0
One weblogic server for jdeveloper 11.1.2.0
One weblogic server for jdeveloper 11.1.3.0
One weblogic server for jdeveloper 11.1.4.0
How often should you migrate then because if you don't update you could be very behind after a couple of years and may be the migration could be almost impossible at that point.
We still have applications that where developed for oc4j 10 g and migration is almost rewrite at this point. (only after 3 years).
At the end, you get servers dedicated to some applications instead of having a stack of multi purpose servers.
Also let say you are starting with a project that is going to take two years, you start the developement with jdeveloper 11.1.5.0 and in two years it will jdeveloper 13.1.1.0. How do you manage this? You stay with 11.1.5.0?
We noticed that getting support for 10 g is really difficult at this point. Many people don't know anymore about 10 g and you don't get bug fix. If you don't get bug fix, how can you survive with your old version?
I know that ADF is not only about the face part, I 've been using the business services too but under ADF it is J2EE and then why ADF does not come as a set of libraries that you can link to in your J2EE project instead of becoming a server centric runtime?
People went to J2EE to get plateform independent, with ADF you are becoming server dependant. ADF is supposed to do better than .net but if you look at .net the IDE actually support old and new frameworks. If you get to develop on a older framework you can still use the new IDE. Also you can install several versions of the framework on the same server with .net.
From what I can read ADF is not even supported on JBOSS anymore so give me argument to choose ADF as a enterprise solution? Is it really the future?
