Which One and Why?

I am caught with various webmasters who continue to have problems that cause delays.  The entire website is developed with Flash/Dreamweaver.  I need to be able to be in a place where the next 'problem' (read excuse) does not delay this and other projects.
I think the Web Standard suite will give me what I need.
However, this does not include features found in the Web Premium package.
Money is tight.  Would the Web Standard do the job and what would it cost me to upgrade to the Web Premium at a later date.
Any advice for a person who does most of his coding as straight html with some php 'canned' codes.?
I do have resources that can assist in a coding question and debugging crunch and am fairly certain I can at least insert content etc with the right package.
I am also blind and it is difficult for rme to follow forums.  If this thing does not notify me of a response, please send a copy of your resonse to:
[email protected]

Thanks Bob,
Not enough info; goes to let you know how much I do not know.  What I know
is I cannot let important projects fall prey to webmasters who appear and
disappear.  I can't afford to hire someone responsible because I am a Human
Rights Activist and most of those I am fighting for don't have dime one and
neither do I.
I am trying to get enough software in a single package as inexpensively as I
can to be able to add content to and edit a site that was built using
Dreamweaver and if 'Flash' intensive in the functions.
It looks like I can get the Web Standard Suite and not have Photoshop.  The
next level the Premium gives me Photoshop and Soundbooth.  I gather I will
need those to edit audio files and graphics.
Currently, I use Coffee Cup because I could afford it, but it limits what I
can do to straight html with xml and pahp canned inserts for forms and
menus.
I will read your article and peruse your website to see what I can learn.
Thank you for taking the time to reply

  • Canon 7D or 70D, which one and why?

I am looking into purchasing a new camera body, the 7D or the 70D obviously and I cannot decide which one to get. U have read/watched countless reviews and comparisons but they dont really help me that much. I mostly photograph landscapes, travel photos, and my dog (who is still a puppy and moves around very fast). I currently own a T2i.
From what I've read, the 70D is a lot better at videos but I almost never shoot videos so the video quality is not very important to me.
    Body - T2i
    Glass - Ef-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM, 50mm f/1.8 II, 18-55mm kit lens, 55-250mm f/4-5.6 STM

Thank you, for low-light indoor photographs which camera performs better?
The cameras have similar performance in low-light.  The 70D has a newer sensor and has an edge over the 7D, but it's not an enormous difference.  In side-by-side comparisons you'd probably see the 7D is slightly nosier ... if you look at the images long enough.
Lens selection makes a big difference here.  If you're shooting in low light, use a lower focal ratio lens.
Suppose you're taking a photo using the kit zoom lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6) and using 50mm.  The lowest possible focal ratio for that lens, when using the 50mm focal length, is going to be f/5.6.  -OR- you could use your 50mm f/1.8 which is able to do f/1.8.
Dropping from f/5.6 -> f/4 is one stop.
    f/4 -> f/2.8 is another stop
    f/2.8 -> f/2 is another stops (so that's 3 full stops)
    f/2 -> f/1.8 is 1/3rd stop.
That's a total of 3 1/3rd stops.  Each "stop" doubles the amount of light the lens can collect when the shutter is open... combine those stops and the f/1.8 lens is collecting nearly 10x more light as compared to the f/5.6 lens.  The problem with f/1.8 is that it also has a very shallow depth of field so depending on how much you need to keep in focus beyond just your focused distance it may not be suitable... perhaps you back off to f/2.8... or perhaps you back off to f/4 for more depth of field ... but f/4 is still twice as much light as f/5.6.

  • Dot11radio0 and Dot11radio1 - which one and why?

As some may know by know (lol) i am setting up my 1841 for home access. I obtained a 802.11 abg module and started studying and experimenting.
What i have not yet clarified is if Dot11radio 0 and 1 -  2.4 and 5 ghz both support 54mbp transfer rates, and if the 2.4 is the most compatible and common at the time, why would someone also setup the 5ghz one? Are there any clear advantages?
I have currently both running. My small mobile devices connet to the 2.4 one and My laptop to the 5ghz but if both been activated has any downsides
i could probably move to a different setup.
    Open to recommendations - suggestions!

    Hello,
The 2.4 GHz spectrum has only 3 available non-overlapping channels (1, 6, 11), so if you are in an area with other wireless networks in range you could see some interference. There is also potential interference from Microwaves, Bluetooth, etc.
The 5.0 GHz spectrum has many more channels available, and the chances of interference issues are much much lower.
The range is typically better on 2.4 GHz and it is more compatible with devices, but 5.0 GHz will usually have better performance. Also, with both radios turned on, you can split your clients onto both radios, so they aren't contending with eachother as much, since wireless is after all a shared medium.
No real downside to having both Radios turned on that I can think of, aside from a minimal power draw increase (not sure on the specifics)...

  • Bit Depth: 8 Bit., 16 Bit or 32 Bit. Which one and why?

Which bit depth should I choose and what are the pros and cons of each? I am currently using 8 Bit.
    Thank You,
    Sebastian

A higher bit depth will give more values of a colour or greyscale that you can work with. So, for example a graduated background may show banding in 8 bit but not 16 or higher.
It all depends what your content originated from, what you are doing and where it will end up, there is no point doing black & white text in 32bit!

  • Lightroom 5 boxset vs download...Which one and why?

Anyone in the know, please define for those of us who wish to purchase LR, what are the differences of the following:
    Box Set
    > Advantages:
    > Disadvantages:
    > Cost:
    Download
    > Advantages:
    > Disadvantages:
    > Cost:
    Thank you

I'd like to add this :
Currently, there is the Creative Cloud plan called the "photography plan" that includes Lightroom (and all future updates - - INCLUDING major dot updates - like Lightroom 6 when it comes out).....AND the full version of Photoshop CC - - all for $10 a month.  Now, there has been no official announcement, but Lightroom 6 could be around the corner (or it could be 6 months away or longer).  If Lightroom comes out in the next few months, it would be in your interest to get this plan - if you'd like to be on the latest version for a while.  Even if you get the perpetual license and download, you will not have access to LR6 if it should come out soon - which means you would have to spend the $149 to get LR5, update it, and then another $149 (assuming its the same) for Lightroom 6 when it comes out.  That alone makes it more logical to get the $10/mo plan - and unless there is not another version of LR (Like Lightroom 7) for 30 months, its cheaper to get on this plan.  And this is ignoring the fact that you get full access to full blown Photoshop and all future updates.  Something to think about.

    HI,
Which browser for Mac is the fastest one and why ?
Safari. But as with any browser, speed depends on what type of internet connection have, high speed being the fastest.
Have you found any tricks to make Safari faster ?
Empty the cache, Reset Safari, delete WebpageIcons.db from ~/Library/Safari
A lean machine runs faster and better performance. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*
Have you found any tricks to make Webkit, Firefox or Google Chrome faster ?
Same for any browser. Empty the cache often, clear the history.
Information here regarding Safari's web kit. The WebKit Open Source Project

10.7 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store.  The price is $19.99.
You must have at least a Late 2006 model 2,1 MacBook.
    The model 2,1 (Late 2006 & Mid 2007) can use 3gb of 200 pin 667mhz PC2-5300 RAM
    The model 3,1 (Late 2007) can use 6gb of 200 pin 667mhz PC2-5300 RAM
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. You can put two 2gb RAM sticks in the model 2,1 but it can only use 3,3gb. This is a hardware limitation and cannot be changed.

    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/faq/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-3-g b-memory-limitation-details.html
OWC tests have found that there is a slight speed increase with having two 2gb sticks in rather than one 1gb and one 2gb. the model 2,1 is in the gray lines at the bottom of the graph. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Memory_Benchmark/Apple_MacBook/
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

It's pamonvashon again (the person who posted the question).  I fixed it so I'll tell you how in case it happens to you.  I was correct.  I went back and re downloaded the game,  "Virble".  At the beginning of the game o I used the buttons on the side of the phone to turn the sound off and on and the sound came on!  A miracle!  So beware of VIRBLE!!!

  • Which method of BDC is used in which condition and Why?

    Hi,
I want to know In which conditions(or in which type of data) Call Transaction or Batch Input Session is used for Data Migration and why?
    Please help me out.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Gagan Mittal

In both, you will be doing the same screen scraping. But the main difference is while Batch Input method keeps your sessions persistantly if an error occurs, whereas CALL TRANSACTION does not provide that mechanism automatically, you will have to code for it. In call transaction you calling a transaction in a loop depending on your input. But in a batch input session, you will combine your transactions into batches that can be processed at a later time or immediately. This way, when you are doing large volume loads, and you don't want to burden your system with all the transactions running, you can create batches that you can process later when the system is not over-burdened.
But the advantage with CALL TRANSACTION is that you will know the success or failure and the reason for failure in your program itself and you can take a subsequent action based on that result. Since your Batch Input Session is creating a new task, there is no immediate feedback that you can use.
Even with a call transaction, it is advisable to keep the BDC data in a session, if the CALL fails. That way you can revisit the transaction and make corrections.

  • JAva API's which one and how?

hi, thanks for the reply, (see below message)
basically i want to create a a webbased application that uses JSP, XML. i know i need to use JSDK and J2EE and know how to install them, however im thinking of using Xerces-J as it contains SAX and DOM pparses. alongside this i wish to use tomcat as the deployment application. i am not very experianced with installing these last two apps and dont understand the guides and they dont mention other API's? do i need to install Java webservices development pack or are the java xml parses such as JAXP, are SAX and DOM already part of the API or do i need to use xerces!
    thanks in advance
im starting a project which is webbased, so i will be using JSP and XML.
i have installed tomcat it seems to work fine.
but having problems with the other java packages: J2EE, JSDK and apache's xerces-J for xml processing!
do i need to install the JAVA WSDP?? how would i go about installing these??
    please please help!

    Hi,
Please let us know the problem you are facing while installing.
Install J2EE 1.4 application server. You could create web application using it. It contains xerces parser for xml processing.
    -Amol

    Hi Moh_Ali,
You don't have to install JWSDP pack for xml parsing.
If you are using jdk 1.4 and above, there is a xml parser(crimson) bundled with it for xml processing(SAX,DOM).
Even tomcat 5 has xerces bundled with it.
Hence for your web based application , what you need is j2sdk and tomcat .
Get back if you have any other issues.

  • I recently upgraded some Adobe software (and I can't remember which one) and since that time, I have not been able to get videos on Firefox. I still can on Safari. What gives?

I'm sorry I can't remember which software I was requested to update....but it was an Adobe product. Now, Firefox is a little slow and fluky and I can't get videos at all. Sometimes, I can't google--it freezes, but intermittently.

    Try a SMC reset:
