Which Server Technology?

Hi,
I am designing an application in Oracle 10g XE. It is just wonderful to use. Application is supposed to be used out on the Internet. I am also designing part of the site in Dreamweaver and have been testing out coldfusion which is neat and nice, except for that it costs over 5000 USD to buy which is a bit too much for me. Is there any other server technology I could be using which is not that costly and is as good/quick. I started using Oracle since I had been using MySQL previously and it was simply too slow and could not take the amount of data I needed it to take.
Any suggestions - something which is fast and flexible and cheaper?
ASP.NET, ASP, JSP --- (I heard from a specialist that php was not very good since it would slow things down)...
.. btw I have not touched any of the above except for Coldfusion which I like using.
Need suggestions from someone who knows what he/she is talking about.

Hi!
I can advice you to use JSP, BUT!!!! Your choice is very dependent of choosed platform for
web-server. What httpd do you planning to use ?

  • Adding a Server Technology to Flex

    I am currently working on a Flex project and did not think I
    would need a server. However, we now want to use it with .NET web
    services.
    I know that when you create a Flex Project, you can tell it
    to use ASP.NET or any other server. But how do I add this setting
    once the application has already been started?

    that is mostly convinient option, at most what it will do is
    create some configuration parames for compiler which will use it to
    bake in some chanel defs etc inside swf but you can always change
    that,
    flex is somewhat FLEXible on adapting to all kinds of server
    technologies.

  • Site Definition quesiton regarding using server technology

    I just bought the book: Cold Fusion Web Application
    Construction Kit and for the tutorial it's asking me to define a
    site and click the radio button "Yes, I want ot use a server
    technology" and I choose Cold Fusion. It then goes on to ask what
    the address is of my testing server. While I've used Dreamweaver
    for many years, I have never used a testing server as far as I
    know. I create the pages, preview in browser, then upload. Is this
    test server needed for me to use ColdFusion in Dreamweaver?
    Also, this book says I should have ColdFusion installed on my
    machine. Is this needed if my Web host has it on his server? I'm on
    Mac OS 10.4
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Yes you need to have CF installed for you to preview and also
    to test
    locally. Otherwise you have to put the pages to the remote
    server, and test
    there which is not a good way to go.

  • Server technologies

    I have two sites on on GoDaddy and another on works4me. I
    will develop on
    one and put into production on the other. If both have
    Perl,PHP,MySQL,Java
    and ColdFusion. Which is best to select in Dreamweaver when
    setting up a
    new site? If possible please briefly explain why. Newest
    technologiy etc.
    I am new to DWCS3 and building websites, I have used
    programing languages in
    the past, so perfectually capable of learning.

    I have connected to GoDaddy server in the past just fine, as
    well as
    other hosts that are not "localhost". You just need to
    properly
    configure your Dreamweaver settings and the MySQL settings in
    your
    GoDaddy control panel.
    As for the OP's question - you should choose the server
    technology you
    are familiar with. I know PHP, so I always choose that. Not
    everything
    you mentioned are "server technologies" available to choose
    in DW. You
    really have only 4 choices: some flavor of ASP - good if you
    are on a
    Microsoft server and know ASP; PHP/MySQL - good if you know
    PHP and the
    server supports PHP and MySQL; CFM - good if you ColdFusion;
    JSP - good
    if you know JSP (I've never met anyone who does!) Note that
    you only
    need to choose a server technology if you plan on working
    with a
    database or coding dynamic pages with ASP/PHP/CFM/JSP. My
    opinion - PHP
    is the best. More servers support it than the other
    technologies and
    it's open source with huge resources for support on the web.

  • Sharepoint 2013 - Which Server Should Run Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service

    We have just deployed Sharepoint 2013 and also CRM 2011..
    Our Sharepoint 2013 Environment has a WFE and an APP server and we have a CRM 2011 box.
    We have been getting the following error in IE when Users in CRM are clicking on the Document Link under accounts which links to Sharepoint 2013
    "This Content cannot be displayed in a frame
    To help protect the security of information you enter into this website, the publisher of this content does not allow it to be displayed in a frame."
    It seems like it is a IE Security Issue, but I am suspecting it could be the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service.
    Which server should be running the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service| WFE or APP.
    Also which server should run the Windows Service: SharePoint User Code Host
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
    Please have a look at the following post:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219591.aspx
    As it describes, the recommendation is for both services to start it on the Web Front End servers.
    Cheers,
    Vincent

  • How to find out which server is running on which port

    hi all,
    how to find out which server is running on which port, i want to know both
    from front end and backend?
    thanks and regards
    srikanth

    The best source to get all the ports you have is the Context Files.
    All ports are defined in the Context Files through "AutoConfig Variable". You can get the list of those variables by referring to the following note under "What is the port pool? What if I want to give a specific value to a Server Port?"
    Note: 216664.1 - FAQ: Cloning Oracle Applications Release 11i
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=216664.1
    You can also get that list via OAM.
    Referring to the installation log file should also be helpful (Unless you have changed any of the ports after the installation).

    Thanks
    Ahmed Pasha

    Hi
    follow the below steps
    goto SM37 --> find out your job
    double click on job ---> click on job details(you will find this option in top)
    In the next screen --> you will get application server name and Work process ID
    This two are required if you want to cancel any running job.
    Note: You will find the server name and WPID only for active jobs(which are runnig at present)
    In Your case if you don't know the server name which you have, just select "Home(this is the first option)" system will run the job based on server availability.
    If you want to know all the servers in your system, goto SM50

  • HT1338 HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHICH SERVER MY MAC IS USING?

    HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHICH SERVER MY MAC IS USING, KEEP GETTING MICROSOFT SQL SERVER ERRORS
    WHEN TYPING IN ADDRESS'S?

    If your computer is tied to a network, then there is a way to check. Go to System Preferences, and click Accounts. unlock Admin
    then you can click Login Options.
    under that, Network Account Server. This should show you what server your computer is tied to. If you aren't in the tech department, you could try asking them.

  • Which server will get the load?

    Hi all
    I have 2 servers, on 'server1', I have an flv file, on
    'server2', I have an swf file.
    The swf file on server2 loads the flv file on server1. My
    question is, which server will get the burden of the load of the
    flv file? Additionally, how can I test this to confirm this (bare
    in mind, I'm not a server guy).
    Any help is always appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chris

    You can basically publish it to one Origin Server and that server will republish the incoming stream to other 3 origin servers. This feature is called Multi-point publish. Basically you use application.onPublish and onUnpublish handlers in conjunction with Server-side NetStream Class to achieve this.
    Simple example:
    var nc;
    var ns;
    application.onAppStart = function(){
          nc = new NetConnection();
         nc.onStatus = function(info){
              // you can trace connection status here
         nc.connect("rtmp://Origin_Server_2/myApp");
    application.onPublish = function(myClient,myStream){
        ns = new NetStream(nc);
        ns.attach(myStream);
        ns.publish(myStream.name,"live");
    application.onUnpublish = function(myClient,myStream){
          ns.publish(false);

  • Which server's datasource connection is configured in DirectJTDataSource_management.properties file ?

    Hi,
         I am new to ATG CSC and when i installed CSC, 3 server instances were created for Production, Publishing and Agent servers.
    The ATG installation contains a DirectJTDataSource_management.properties file containing a JNDIName property with a default value (JNDIName=ATGMysqlDS).
    To which server's datasource should the DirectJTDataSource_management.properties point to (Production, Publishing or Agent) ?

    It points to publishing schema.

  • In which server v have to do ale configuration (production or development)

    hi consultants,
    in which server v have to do ale configuration (production or development)..
    kindly give me some clear idea about that
    thanks
    bhanu

    Hi
    First you have to develop the complete scenario in DEVelopment server and to check that it is working fine.
    So you create a request for the same in DEV server.
    You never develop/configure anything in production
    all the things that are configured/developed will be moved to Production using the transport requests transportation only

  • Which server model do you use?

    Folks,
    Which server model do you use with Dreamweaver.  ASP, PHP_MySQL or ColdFusion?
    Is anyone still using ASP.Net or JSP with DW?
    In your opinion, which of the three server models is best supported by DW CS5 and which one needs most improvement?
    UltraSuite

    David,
    First of all let me say how impressed I am with your contribution to the Dreamweaver Community.  Your tutorials and other resources are most impressive and I am sure they are appreciated by a lot of Dreameaver users.
    What you have said about PHP is precisely what I have heard from people via private emails.  That is why I recently released a package of simple but frequently used PHP extensions.
    WebAssist seem to have done a great job and I am sure I'll be no competiiton for them or anybody else.  For me this is more like a hobby. That is why when I had the market for server-side extensions, all to myself, I still kept giving away a lot of free extensions.
    I remember in the early days a fellow Dreamweaver sent me an email saying that he had found the MagicSuite on a couple of Chinese servers.  I went to take a look and two servers traced to Shanghai mentioned more than 20,000 downloads each of the MagicSuite, which was free anyway.  This was just within days of a book that was published in Chinese in Taiwan and which (with my permission) had discussed each of my extensions with screenshots, etc.
    Sorry for going off on a tangent.  Thanks for your reasoned response.

  • SQL that shows which client process is connected to which server process

    Hi,
    I am running database on Linux.
    I have many oraclePROD processes (up to 100). These are dedicated server processes, which are opened by several client processes.
    I want to know which server process is connected to which client process. I see that v$session gives the session# and client process, but does not give information about the related dedicated server process.
    Is there any v$ view that gives this information?
    Thank you.

  • Which server do I install Crystal Reports Server On?

    I'm new to crystal reports server and preparing to install 2008.  I've been through the Crystal Reports Server 2008 Quick  Installation Guide for Window and it does not refer to which server it should be installed on.  I'm currently running a SQL server Business One is located on, a web server for Web Tools and an Exchange Server.  I'm assuming I would install it on my SQL server that has SAP located there also.  Is there a recomended location or suggestions for specific location?

    Hi,
    not sure what you mean but let's summarize:
    Task: Building reports that fetch data from SAP sources
    Software needed: Crystal Reports Designer 2008 + BOBJ int.Kit for SAP (client installation option)
    Task: Publishing and scheduling CR reports that fetch data from SAP sources
    Software needed: BO Edge XI 3.1 or BO Enterprise XI 3.1 + BOBJ int.Kit for SAP (server installation option)
    You mentioned that you want to install Crystal Reports Server 2008. It provides almost the same functionality as BO Enterprise and BO Edge but it DOES NOT support scheduling and publishing reports in the InfoView (kind of BOBJ portal) which fetch data from SAP sources.
    I would suggest to install the BOBJ server software on a separate machine, as long as the machine resides on the same domain as your SAP server.

    Stratos
