Which Version of Safari is for Tiger 10.4.9 ?

I have Tiger 10.4.9 running on a G5 2.5. with Safari 2
I very seldom go online, but when I do ,the web pages don't look right, for example You-tube,myspace, even google etc. I've tried resetting Safari and tried to find info on the last version is for 10.4.9. with no results. _Also,I use this computer for audio recording and have to stay at 10.4.9_
*Is this the only version for 10.4.9 or is there a later version I can use or would I be better going to Firefox ?*
Any info would be appreciated......
Thank you in advance for the help!

Hi,
when I do ,the web pages don't look right
That's a result of running an outdated version of Safari (2).
to find info on the last version is for 10.4.9
All you need to do is update to v10.4.11 and run Safari 4.1.3
Click your Apple menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update...
After the updates are installed, repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

When you are finished, click your Apple menu / About This Mac. You should see v10.4.11

  • Which version of Safari I need to download?

I have a MacBook that's five years old and I'm trying to figure out which version of Safari is best for my computer

Safari is not downloadable by itself. It's part of the OS. If there is not a newer version available in system updates, the only way you're getting a newer one is to upgrade the version of OS X you're running.

  • Which version of Safari adds the feature "Smart Search Field"?

The so called version of Safari's "Smart Search Field" will include function that automatically give suggestion based on what you type in the search field, just like this
Which version of Safari add this function?

I just spoke with Apple Enterprise Support since you got me curious as to why there were 2 versions with the same number. Apparently the 47.1MB one was a small update and they didn't up the version number. They couldn't tell me what the update was, but the 47.1MB is the most current.
Not sure why yours keeps reverting back to 4.1.3 though. Have you tried deleting the update and re-downloading it?

    Check Software Update first.

  • Which version of MS Office for a PC is MS Office for MAC 2011 equivalent to?

Which version of MS Office for a PC is MS Office for MAC 2011 equivalent to?

MS Office 2010 is the nearest equivalent to the current version for Mac. There are cosmetic differences due to some fundamental differences in Windows and Mac interfaces, but otherwise they are functionally very similar while still retaining Microsoft's common habit of maintaining slightly different feature sets between the two platforms.

  • Which version of Safari for old old xp on Windows 7 Professional Virtual Machine?

    Ok, ready for a challenge?
I've had the "competition" (yes a PC) for two years now.
SONY i5 Laptop V111 model series (more details if you need it) running WIndows 7 Professional Edition.
On the Main Desktop, Windows 7 Professional Edition is running the latest Safari as I prefer it as mostly have Macs but Work (College) runs in a PC mindset.
Now I have this XP Virtual Machine Desktop and have never been able to do much with it.
Finally found out why, it had no interconnection to the Internet, so now it has it through IE 8 (again sorry) but that successful installation today  opened up the two year old question that I no longer have the store (Sony Style store closed here) to help me with answers.
Can I get a Safari for the  XP Virtual Machine Desktop?  It appears to be a 32-Bit version (despite the WIndows 7 Professional being the 64-bit version).
All I see is Safari for Mountain Lion.  Maybe as I am not able to search properly from the PC, the  Apple pages as I have on my Mac my home page is the Apple store and communities for questions/help.  Where is the "older" Safari's  hiding out?
Or maybe I don't need such an old version of Safari, as I can't find out which Safari works for my PC as whenever I go in it says my Mac version and I can't hide that since I'm using the Mac to access this Forum!
Please write if you are confused as I am and I'll find whatever information you need.
    Thanks everyone!

    Hi Cooljoe,
Based on my understanding, local machine control-alt-delete key combination is control-alt-delete.
Virtual PC's control-alt-delete key combination is Right Alt - Delete.
Remote Destop session's control-alt-delete key combination is ctrl + alt +
    end.
There should be no conflicts between them.

  • I have an older iMac G5 OSX 10.4.11      What is the latest version of Safari available for this machine?

I have an older iMac G5  OSX 10.4.11.   I currently have Safari 4.1.3 and I am being told by some of the web sites I use that they no longer support that version of Safari. What is the latest update I can get and how?

TenFourFox -- It's a port of the latest FireFox to run on older hardware and software.
"World's most advanced web browser. Finely tuned for the Power PC."
--  works for me on 10.4.  Supports 10.5

    alternative download site:
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/37761/tenfourfox
Turn on pipelining.  This will allow Firefox to make simaltaneous requests to the server.  Chrome has pipeling turned on. Some sites could fail to load with pipeling set on. The site will be old. See "Increase pipelining" in:

OmniWeb uses the lastest Safari framework.  The open source WebKit. Other browsers like Safari and iCab use the OS version of WebKit.  The OmniWeb downloaded dmg includes it's own copy of the latest WebKit.

  • Which version do i need for kindle fire

which version of flash player do I need for kindle fire?

Adobe stopped ALL development of Flash for Android last year.
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html there are older versions of Flash Player (for Android) at that link, but there are no guarantees any of them will work.
    Check Android forums for alternatives.
    See also: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1061194
I've read a lot about "Dolphin" for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser
I'm not an Android user (no tablet or phone) so I can't make any endorsements that would hold any credibility, but most of the Flash solutions I've read point to Dolphin as the best alternative.
Again, check Android forums: http://androidforums.com/ to see what their "gurus" recommend.

  • Which version of windows 7 for bootcamp

Hello...I tried searching past posts regarding this issue but didn't find what I was looking for.  I want to install Windows 7 via bootcamp on my new Feb' 2011 Macbook Pro, but I need to be sure whether or not there is a particular 'mac version' for Windows 7.  I know I have to get the full box copy/retail version (64 bit), but is there anything else I need to be particular about, in terms of a version more suitable for macs?  Or will that said version work?
    Thank you much

There is no "Mac" version of Windows 7 for BootCamp.
BootCamp sets up a partition and a Hybrid MBR, and provides drivers for your Mac's hardware to interface with the Window OS.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
You must print out and read the instructions carefully. If you seem stuck in Windows upon booting, simply hold option while booting to get a choice of operating systems.
The only thing I might consider is getting the Windows 7 Pro version, you can then download XP VirtualPC from Microsoft if you need to run XP programs.
Once you get that setup, your going to run into a issue of always dual booting.
Windows in Bootcamp partition gives full hardware performance, but at a cost of dual booting to each OS.
Later on you might want to consider installing a virtual machine software like VMFusion or Parallels (or even VirtualBox) most of these can take your Bootcamped Windows and make a copy of it to run Windows in a window (like a file) in OS X.
Catch here is you lose some performance, but gain a heck of a lot of functionality to swtich to any OS
(even XP, Linux and other ones BootCamp doesn't support)
I currently run 10 other operating systems on my machine, and another triple boots into Linux, OS X or Windows.
You can have a lot of fun checking out other operating systems this way. Linux has a lot of free programs to use.

  • Which version of Windows XP for Fusion

I am a lifetime PC user switching to Mac. I just bought my iMac, as well as Fusion because I have some software that will only run in Windows. When looking to buy Windows, there are tons of choices, and one of them XP Home Full Version SP2 OEM says that it will run with Boot Camp but not Parallels. It doesn't mention Fusion. I'm told I really don't need XP Pro, and if that's the case, which version of XP Home should I get so I can be sure it will work with Fusion. I don't plan to use Boot Camp. Thanks

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
if a Windows XP version is claimed to work with BootCamp than it also should work with Parallels or Fusion.
Any XP Home with SP2 version, even OEM, usually works with BootCamp/Parallels/Fusion.
Just stay away from 'bundled' versions, that originally were sold together with a computer (like Dell, HP, and the like).
These versions mostly only works with that computer.

  • Which Security version is Safari using for a secure connection

Now that SSL 3.0 can be compromised, how can I determine which security version Safari is using:
TLS 1.2, TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.0.  Is there a way to force Safari to use at least TLS 1.0?

Thanks for the enormous amount of information.
Unlike Firefox, I do not see how to force Safari NOT to use SSL 3.0.
If that info was in your response, I must have missed it.
So once again: Is there a way to force Safari (using preferences) to use TLS 1.0 or higher?
