Which video sharing site-where can I play a large.m4v at 960x540?

Hi~
I have done a little looking around. I know youtube doesnt play video at that res. and i looked at vimeo, but they didnt seem like they could.
I dont know. where can i play my vid. at 960x540?
Thank you

YouTube is free and their quality has gotten much better, and it seems to work for a lot of people.
It embeds easily into your own site. YouTube offers both 1920x1080 and 1280x720.
MobileMe is $99 per year. It does not embed easily. I found a hacky way to embed it on my blog, but I later found that Windows users were unable to see the video. Ususally, rather than embed, I just have to provide a link to the page.
Vimeo produces good quality, but over time I have found YouTube to be more convenient. Vimeo offers 1280x720, but not 1920x1080. For most purposes, this is not a meaningful limitation. They start charging when you go over a certain number of downloads a week. At one time, they would only let you embed HD versions if you were a paid member, so I decided not to pay and go to YouTube. I can't say if that is still their policy.
The uploads to YouTube are done, but it may take a few hours for YouTube to process them into HD. I have decided not to try Vimeo, because I am limited to one HD upload per week.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance

  • Pre Lion iPhone videos show Thumbnail but can't play - new video generates Unsupported Video Format popup, no thumb but will play via quicktime

    This is really frustrating -
Over the last year I have been uploading all of my photos and occasional iPhone video to Aperture 3 (latest version all patches in place).    Aperture would recognize the video, create a thumbnale and otherwise treat it nicely.
Now, since upgrading to Lion I find that though I can "see" the old videos in their folders or projects and the associated Thunbnale, I can't play them - I either get the spinning color wheel and then nothing or Aperture will crash and report an error relating to Quicktime (sorry don't have an error code at the moment).
If I try and export a video I can - but what I get also can't be played by Quicktime - just a black screen.  When I hit Play - the scroll bar moves, but there is no sound or video.
From Final Cut Pro X, I can imoprt this exported video file and see that it appears complete - but FCPX uses it's own playback elements.
If I shoot a new video on my iPhone, I find that I can see the thumbnale in the import option of Aperture when looking at the phone, but once imported I get a Popup telling me that it is an "Unsupported Video Format" - "Do you want to open this video clip with QuickTIme Player?"   If I hit Open then the clip does play, but the thumbnale remains a black square with the warning Exclamation Point.
I have also had some issues with Lion Mail crashing when trying to play a video made on an iPhone and sent to me via email.   Seems more likley to be a Lion / Quicktime issue then an Aperture and Mail issue - but who knows.
I spent 2.5 hours of quality time with the Genius bar this morning.  We reinstalled Lion and after that the suggestion was to trash and re-install Aperture, but that would require my disc and of coruse a trip home.   Mail doesn't seem to still have the issues with iPhone movies that it had - but Aperture is still not happy.
Did as instructed and dragged Aperture 3 to the trash, did the empty trash option, restarted and reinstalled.   Then did a software update to catch the new update for Aperture and it found that.   Interestingly when I did start it up after that it DID NOT ask me for my key - so clearly some elements were left over.
Now upon retstarting Aperture 3 once again I find that I can still see my old movies (their thumbnails show up) but I still can't play them.   The new test movie is there but still generates the popup regarding it being an Unsupported Video Format.
And it's not just my iPhone.   Video sent via email from another iPhone can play as an attachment, or when dragged and dropped to the desktop, but once imported into Aperture is once again proclaimed to be an Unsupported Video Format.
Hoping someone out there knows how to resolve this....

For some reason it just started to work now. Have no idea what didn't work before.

  • Help.  edited video saved on PC, can't play the file

Adobe 9 on XP.  90 minute video.  Tried to "share" via email, but it wouldn't send properly (after two, 3 hour uploads).  So I saved it in a file on my PC (another 3 hour ordeal) , an FLV file (1,198,045 KB).
When I tried to open the FLV file, a previously installed video conversion utility trial version had expired, so I am unable to play without upgrading to the paid version.  Do I have to convert the file?  Doesn't Adobe Element 9 convert it before saving it?  Are ther any recommended free versions of a file transfer utility?
Will I, and others, ever be able to watch this damn video?

For one thing, you'll never be able to make an e-mailable ninety minute video file. In fact, a video that long would not likely play on most web sites.
As I say in my books, an e-mailable file would have to be under a minute to work at all and very low resolution. Beyond that, you'd be better off posting the video to a web site and e-mailing a link to it.
And, yes, you will need a Flash player to play an FLV file. Many web sites (like YouTube) have a Flash player built right into the web site.
But, if you want to play an FLV file on your computer, you'll need a standalone Flash player like this one:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Since you're new with this program, I'd very much recommend you start with a much shorter video project. At least until you make sure all of your systems work.

  • I still can't install the adobe reader. I am looking for adit options button , also to add the web sit to the allowed sites. where can I find it ?

I have attempted to install an adobe reader update. where can I find the edit options button to click on it to add the website www.adobe.com on the allowed sites ? I can't find it.
== this evening when i tryed installing the update for adobe reader

The instructions on the Adobe site are outdated and do no longer apply to current Firefox versions and you can ignore those instructions and save the Adobe installer to your desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that file.

  • Use for video sharing site

    Greetings,
I, am new to flex and was wondering if this might be useful
to create a video sharing type youtube clone. I am a consultant and
am researching this for a client that is interested in doing that.
because of other programming/db issues it is being developed for a
windows server so off the shelf stuff like clipshare that works
only on linux won't work for him.
    Any thoughts? thanks

If you are processing videos on your server you will need
    your own
dedicated server with the software installed, plus a really
    large hard
    disc and loads of bandwidth.
My opinion is, why reinvent the wheel? There are loads of
    video sites
that have the networks and server in place to be able to
    share videos,
just instruct your users to use them, and then display them
    on your site
using the code the other sites create to embed in other
    sites.

  • Video sharing with best quality

I am not sure if this is the right forum to post it.
I am new to this technology/area of preparing video by getting best quality and no pains in viewing it over web.
I am going to shoot mostly family events or kids activities.
I am planning to buy a HD camcorder.
But to get best quality while capturing the video/source, what to look for in camcorder and any preferences about the models in the market?
After capturing the video at best quality, what are the next steps in preparing this for web delivery? What softwares/tools do i need to use to get the best video quality for sharing over web with out any pain (like buffering/slow start) while viewing?
I am more concerned about sharing videos of best quality and I am OK to spend extra bucks to achieve this.
Please suggest me or direct me to any source where i could get this information.
    Thanks, Eswar

Eswar ~ The following is just one suggestion of many possible ways of delivering videos to the Web. Click on this link to see one of Apple's demo _MobileMe Gallery_ videos:
    http://gallery.me.com/emily_parker#100624
...at lower right of the video there is a fullscreen button you can click. That video was produced in _iLife '08_ iMovie s/w which allows it to be published in a wide range of sizes for optimal viewing on iPhone, Web, AppleTV, etc. See this video tutorial "_Sharing to MobileMe Gallery_".
In iWeb, you can view a list of all the albums and movies in your MobileMe Gallery, and incorporate any of them in an iWeb page. Visitors can click to go directly to your MobileMe Gallery. See this _video tutorial_ — just over half-way through, where it says: +"To embed a MobileMe Gallery..."+
MobileMe Gallery's maximum video resolution is 960x540. Alternative HD video sharing sites such as Vimeo support 1280x720. And according to this _comparison of video services_, also Dailymotion, YouTube and _HD share_. ...But with 1280x720, depending on their connection speed, some viewers may see buffering/slow start problems.
Here's an example of an HD video on YouTube. ...Once on the page, click on "watch in HD" at lower right of the video and click the fullscreen icon. Another thing to consider is how powerful a CPU would be required on a PC or Mac to view 1280x720 video satisfactorily. Apple's MobileMe Gallery cap of 960x540 may be in regard to this, together with connection speed considerations.
But to get best quality while capturing the video/source, what to look for in camcorder and any preferences about the models in the market?
I don't have any specific recommendations, but one thing to consider is that Apple, like camcorder manufacturers, appears to be moving away from Firewire connectivity and towards USB connectivity — so you may want to concentrate your search for camcorders with that in mind. Let me... Well, see for yourself by clicking here.
