White space in parm files foils query for dp export

Hi,
The data pump QUERY option does very strange things with extra white space in parameter files.
If I have any space or a tab between the table name and the colon e.g.
QUERY=UTL_DATA_SYS.LOG_SYSTEM_ERROR :"WHERE 1=2"
I get the following error:
ORA-39001: invalid argument value
ORA-31658: specifying a schema name requires a table name
If I put the white space after the colon, it applies the filter to EVERY TABLE !!!! e.g.
QUERY=UTL_DATA_SYS.LOG_SYSTEM_ERROR: "WHERE 1=2"
. . exported "UTL_DATA_SYS"."SSO_AUDIT_LOG_ARCHIVE" 8.640 KB 0 rows
. . exported "UTL_DATA_SYS"."LOG_SYSTEM_ERROR" 8.921 KB 0 rows

If I get everything JUST RIGHT e.g.
QUERY=UTL_DATA_SYS.LOG_SYSTEM_ERROR:"WHERE 1=2"
I DO get the desired result
Processing object type SCHEMA_EXPORT/POST_SCHEMA/PROCOBJ
. . exported "UTL_DATA_SYS"."SSO_AUDIT_LOG_ARCHIVE" 402.1 MB 5121006 rows

. . exported "UTL_DATA_SYS"."LOG_APEX_ACTIVITY_ARCHIVE" 28.49 MB 177253 rows
etc
Is it unreasonable to ask Oracle to trim white space before it processes these commands? I really appreciate all the power of the data pump, but this is one area that some added work would be appreciated to reduce fragility and avoid unexpected behavior.
Thanks
Steve

Sounds reasonable to file a bug.

  • White space around image when doing Save for Web

    Say I draw a simple square in Illustrator CS6 then export it to a PNG using Save for Web. The preview shows 1px thick of white space on the right side. Sometimes it's on 2 sides or more.
    No other hidden elements are around the image. Clip to artboard in not clicked.
    Why does this happen and how do we get rid of it?

    For once I get to answer a post and say somehting good about align to pixel grid.
    Turn it on
    Your image will now align to the pixel grid

  • How to get rid of white space in EPS embedded in Word for letterhead template?

    Does anyone know how to get rid of the white band in the bottom of this letterhead?
    I embedded the EPS image (done via Illustrator) as a watermark in the header section of MS-Word.
    It looks fine in the Word version, but as soon as I try to print the document - either via Word or via a PDF - that white
    band on either side of the footer and underneath it keeps showing up. I can't get rid of it. I tried this on a PC and a Mac
    and those white bands won't go away.
    If anyone could let me know how to resolve this problem, I would be eternally grateful!
    Thank you.

    If you want this to bleed, then you will have to print on oversize paper and trim or find a printer that will print borderless.

    WHAT/where states you can click on Tools/Margins etc in Adobe Reader? In following advice please be sure to notice the difference between Adobe Reader (free) and Adobe Acrobat ($$).

  • Add a file size option for TIF export

    I would like to have an option to set (uncompressed) file size (or alternatively size in MPix) for a TIF file and have lightroom set the pixel dimensions accordingly. The reason is that many libraries specify a file size requirement. If all your images are cropped the same then working out the dimensions is simple, but if they are all different shapes then it becomes a real pain as you have to work out the dimensions for each one.
    Something somewhat similar has been mentioned for jpeg output, to allow you to specify file size and have lightroom adjust quality to achieve the filesize you want (leaving pixel dimensions fixed).
    ...rob

    If by filesize you mean dimensions (e.g. cropped), then that is built into Lr5 - via smart collection, not library filter.
    If you mean actual source file size (e.g. in bytes), that requires either:
    * John Ellis' AnyFilter, or
    * Jeffrey Friedl's Data Explorer.
    (if there are others, I don't know about them)
    I have plugins for lotsa things, but not everything .

  • Firefox 3 cannot download files with white space in the filename

    When opening attachments in e-mail Firefox is unable to handle files with white space in the name. This is not the same as the white space file name truncation problem documented on this site (where file names with white space are truncated on saving.) The issue is that the browser will prompt to allow the file to be saved, but it will not prompt to open the file as an option. If I rename the file to remove white space then I do receive the "Open with..." dialog box. I verified that Firefox 2 did not have this problem and I can open attachments with white space in the file names just fine using that version of the browser (2.0.0.20).
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Upgraded to version 3

    When a user clicks on an attachment with spaces, the filename is truncated to the first whitespace. While IE, Chrome & Safari handle this, Firefox refuses to accept mime headers with unquoted filename parameters. According to Firefox's bugzilla/knowledgebase, Firefox's behavior is the correct behavior and it's a problem with most webservers or web applications. This problem can be easily corrected by surrounding the filename parameter with double quotes.
    Eg.
    Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=\"" + fileName + "\"");

  • JDK 1.6 Installation INSTALLDIR with white space

    Hi,
    I am trying to install jdk 1.6 in silent mode. I am using following command:
    <jdk1.6>.exe /s INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\CA\IAM\JDK1.6"
    But this shows me the usage dialog. When I remove INSTALLDIR then it gets installed in Program Files\Java. When I use a INSTALLDIR path that does not contain any white space then also it gets installed successfully. What could be the problem with the white space in "Program Files"?
    Thanks,

  • How to get rid of white space when creating a PDF file in dynamics ax 2012

    Hello,
    In Dynamcis AX 2012 we are creating an invoice that is first printed to the screen, but when we convert the invoice to a PDF, white space occurs that our customer cannot have.
    We opened a ticket with Microsoft with the following scope layout:
    As discussed, I am providing you a copy of our scope agreement for your issue.
    Issue Definition: When rendering an SSRS report to screen, report displays as expected. However, when the same report is sent to PDF or printer output, a large white space appears between the header and body of the report.
    We've examined every possible setting in the report design properties using Visual Studio, and nothing has been successful in correcting this behavior. Our client has indicated the proper rendering of certain reports is extremely critical to their business relationships with their clients. They've told us that this problem must be fixed or they cannot go live.
    Scope Agreement: Provide information on the issue of white space showing between the header and body of the report. May have to rescope issue depending on investigation.
    We will now begin working together to resolve your issue. If you do not agree with the scope defined above, or would like to amend it, please let me know as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.
    So after we worked with MS for a bit and gave them more information, the final conclusion came back from them as follows:
    Message: Hello,
    When you examine the report, is the report hiding sections during the print out based on some data condition? IF so, this is going to be returned as By Design. Our current reporting framework will reserve space for the controls even if they are not visible when the report is printed to file (xps, pdf, may even do it if exported to Excel). If this is the case, we don't have anything we can do about it. Development is aware of this issue/limitation, but at this point, we have no workaround for it.
    So the question is:  Have you ever ran across this issue and does Adobe have a potential solution as Micrsoft does not.  Or do you have a potential work around.
    Thanks!
    Allen Shannon

  • Why would white space and line breaks in sql query increase runtime

    Using 11.2.0.3.0 on unix sprac server, 8 cpus 32 cores 12TB storage. We have 16 batch servers doing inserts and ~100 users doing mostly queries.
    We have a wierd issue,  we have a long query that takes 30 seconds to run 1st time then 10-20 secs every other time. Based on knowledge of DB we expected it to take a lot less.  Then a developer reformatted it by taking removing extra white space and line breaks.  all of sudden query takes 6 secs first time and 0.8 every other time.  we tripled checked to ensure they are identical and that only difference is white space and line breaks.  We tried it with SQLDeveloper, TOAD, SQLPLUS, from out desktops, appserver. we could reproduce it every time, with white space 10-20 secs without it 0.8 secs.  Query is 200 lines long with white space 30 without it.
    Why would having white space make such a dramatic difference?  because the query is longer eventhough its identical?  We checked parsing times, etc, no difference.  Is there some network setting, oracle parameter, sqlnet setting?  We spent hours looking on google and found nother

    Do you have some sort of horrific network connection between the client and the database such that it would take 8.5 seconds to transmit a few kb of SQL to the server?  That seems most unlikely.
    How are you determining the query plan?  Are you absolutely sure that both SQL statements have the same plan_hash_value when they are actually executed (not just when you generate a query plan without executing it)?  What are the differences in wait events when you execute the two?
    The sql_id will change when you add or remove whitespace.  There are various methods of modifying query plans that are tied to a sql_id.  My wager would be that you have a profile/ outline/ etc. that is not there for the reformatted one which is causing a query plan difference.  My next guess is that you have an accepted plan for the old statement, you haven't set up a process to let the plan evolve, and the reformatted statement starts with the plan that the old statement would get if you allowed the plan to evolve.

  • Saved PDF files have white spaces

    When I save a Aperture created photobook as a pdf file the file has a white spaces on either side of each page. This white space shows up in Aperture as black when I create the book and is how I wish to see it. Is there a way to fix this in Aperture? Or can it be done outside of Aperture if needed? I have never edited a pdf file so I am unsure how to proceed there if that is my only option.
    The reason I ask this is because I am looking to get a large quantity printed from a printing service that will provide a more attractive printing price when large quantities are ordered. Would a printing service be able to fill in the white with the black that I see in Aperture. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Elliot

    This could be as simple as selecting a borderless setting for the page size in the print book dialog prior to using the PDF drop down to save the book. It is hard to tell from your description. The printer and page size options for the real printer do affect the generated PDF file and white space issues are usually due to not having a borderless page size selected.

  • Insert .oam files that scale without leaving white space below them inside a web page

    Hi All,
    Does anyone have a way to get .oam files to scale inside a web page without leaving all the white space below them when they are scaled in a fluid web page design?
    I've done this in other web pages without using .oam files and inserting the whole html file and stage, but I need this to work with multiple areas inside a web page for which .oam files seem to be the only solution.
    Thanks for your time, any solutions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Meenakshi,
    Thanks for your reply, the blog tutorial you're referencing however uses the HTML files and doesn't use .oam files, which is my problem, as I need to insert more than one edge element on the page.
    Alternatively if there is a way to insert two "stage" HTML edge elements into a page using the method referenced above, this would be a suitable solution also. I've tried inserting more than one HTML file / stage where they are of different stage sizes and had no luck creating a second "stage_02" etc to acheive this so far.
    Thanks again for your reply,
    Cheers,
    Jeff
