Who is running SQL Diag on my server?

I see new SQL Diag . XEL files getting generated on my server continuesly (e.g. ServerName_MSSQLSERVER_SQLDIAG_0_130517498921970000.xel) and I don't know who runs it. I assume there is a tool that is running it, but I don't know which tool and how can
I find the tool. I suspect it is
System Center Operations Manager. Any idea how to find this information?

I am developing a form that reads and posts data from/to a table hosted on a remote PC running XP/SQL Server Express 2008 R2. I access the server through the Internet.
My problem is that if the internet connection happens to be down when I -eg- try to save data to the table using the form, the SQL command tries to reach the server for a while, and eventually crashes.
Is there a way to programatically verify that a remote SQL server is reachable over the Internet before attempting to run a command on it?

Running SQL scripts from CF server

Hi,
I'm new to ColdFusion, but not to database or web
development. I'm wondering if there's anyway I can run a SQL script
on a database from my CF server. I'm running CF 5 on a 2003 Windows
server with a couple Oracle 9i DBs on the backend. I want to move
data from one DB to the other, but can't use a DB link between the
two, so a colleague suggested using CF to migrate the data. Is this
possible?

It's possible. For each db, cold fusion needs a connection
and sufficient permissions.

You can look into Resource Manager and Event Viewer to find the other currently running MSI installation. You may get a warning in Event Log that means the MSI wants to install a SQL Server

This implies that ODP.NET does NOT need to be installed on a client. However, I cannot find OraOPs9.dll on a machine with Client Release 9.2 installed. Should OraOps?.dll automatically come with a Client installation of 9.2 or higher?
ODP.NET needs to be installed on the client. OraOps9.dll is part of ODP.NET, not the Oracle Client.
Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
If an application is built with 10g ODP.NET, it can be run with 9.2 ODP.NET as long as you do not use any 10g APIs. The new features in 10g ODP.NET are included in the doc and the ODP.NET FAQ for your reference.

PHP odbc_connect on a running SQL Anywhere 16 server

please help with the following php odbc_connect problem:
On my local machine (win 7, 64 bits) is a running SQL Anywhere 16 database. Started with
dbeng16.exe -c 8m -n xx_test "G:\DEMOS\xx\DB16\test.db"
In the ODBC manager then created a ODBC connection (xxdsn).
But the connection from PHP 5.3.8 fails:
$verbindung = odbc_connect('xxdsn', 'dba', 'sql');
It shows

The database is definitively runnig. Tested by opening an odbc connection from isql.
When I create an odbc connection on a database file, I can make an php odbc_connect.
This problem is only on the Win 7 machine and also with SQL Anywhere 12.
When I try the same on a (32 bits) XP machine it runs fine.
Please help, to find my mistake.

Running SQL Server Function and Procedures from Oracle

I am trying to run SQL Server 2005 functions and/or procedures from a SQL statement in Oracle. I have gone throught the hetergeneous services and have connected to the SQL Server database successfully. I can also do a query to a table in SQL Server successfully; but I have not been able to execute a procedure or a function.

Have you tried Oracle syntax? It seems to me that you have only tried T-SQL syntax, e.g. execute proc.
Wrap it in a begin..end tag like you would a normal PL/SQL function or proc call. Assumption is that as Oracle makes the remote database (via the dblink) look like an Oracle database, you should also play along and pretend it is one and treat it as such.
E.g.declare
r integer;
begin

r := funcFoo@dblink( 123 );

Winsock error when running SQL Server Stored Proc

I have a SQL Server stored procedure that is trying to read emails from an IMAP server (I am using mail.dll from www.limilabs.com).
The SP works fine on my local computer/db, and the code also runs fine when run from a console application on my remote server. When I try to run it from SQL Server however I get this error message:

Reading emails in a stored procedure? Hm...
Unless you are impersonating the actual user in your CLR procedure, the access will be under the service account for SQL Server. If this is Local Servic or similar and may not have the permission or configuration to access whatever System.Net.Dns.InternalGetHostByName
is trying to access.
Try running SQL Server under a domain account to see what happens.

Running SQL on a domain controller is highly not recommended for performance reasons and for complexities it introduces in the management of both systems (You are already facing this situation now).
I would recommend proceeding like the following before demoting your domain controller:
Install a new SQL server on a member server
Migrate your databases to the new SQL server
Once done, you can safely demote your DC.

Hi, I would like to know if there's any problems in terms ofperformance when running SQL Server 2005 and Essbase Server on 1machine? Currently, my users are using Excel File (Lock & Send) toupload data to the Essbase Server and it took about 30 mins perexcel file upload. Application Manager is installed on client's andserver PC for adminstration. Now, I need to implement Datawarehouse and wish to installSQL Server 2005 on the current machine my Essbase Server isrunning. I will need to do simple SQL statements on the SQL Server2005 such as Update, Select, Insert etc. When comes to performance issues, will my current Essbase Serverbe affected? What if 2 users are accessing the Essbase Server andSQL Server at the same time? Will any data be lost in the midst ofextracting data? I hope someone can advise. Appreciate that. Thank you.

If a lock and send is taking 30 minutes, you are using the wrong technology to load Essbase. You should really consider doing the load using a data load rule. If that isn't the problem, it may be that you are having a real performance problem. If you are moving enough data to require a half hour load, it should be probably be loaded from a text file, or even a spreadsheet, using a data load rule. Text file loads are a bit better than excel, especially when there are formatting issues. Lock and sends are fine for changing parameters and doing adjustments, but heavy duty data loads really work a lot better with load rules.

I have end users those who are running discoverer reports.
The question is how can i find exactly from which IP address the end user is running the reports.

VCM installation help needed on SQL DB and Reporting server

Hi All,
I'm new to VCM and now i got stuck at the SQL DB and Report server portion.
I'm running the vcm server on VM and the SQL is a physical server, both are sitting on the same LAN.
I have create the SQL DB but VCM just fail to validate the DB and report server.
I login to VCM using a Domain account for installation, and i tried to testing the DB using ODBC from the window, result fail.
Error message as attach.
I'm now totally lost on SQL portion.
My Question:
Is there any configuration needed on SQL DB?
How to get the reporting server to working?
What port is needed to it all working??
VCM server Ms Win2012.
SQL version 2012.

Hi Simonhoo79,
For SSRS, first check whether the report server link is accessible from your browser : "http://s01-fes-vcm1:80/ReportServer" . If you continue to get 404 error there also, then you need to reconfigure you report server first before proceeding to vcm installation. Follow the steps on below link on how to reconfigure report server using report services configuration Manager for 404 error.

For SQL server ODBC connection,
Dont create ODBC connection for SQL Native Client. Create ODBC connection for SQL Server.
1. Open ODBC Data Source Administrator
2. Click User DSN tab and Click Add button.
3. Select SQL server and click finish
4. Give name and description and Give the SQL server name (with instance name if your using named instance) or IP in the Server text box.
5. Click Next and select either Windows authentication or sql authentication based on your SQL server authentication mode and click next.
6. If the details given are correct then it will proceed further and check "Change the dafault database to" to your VCM database
7. Click next and finish and try test data source.
VCM 5.7.2 and below will support installation only on windows server 2008 R2 and it doesn't support windows server 2012 but it support both 2008 and 2012 sql servers.

Files can be created by PL/SQL code and stored in the Oracle database as CLOBs. This a fairly easy and robust process. It runs entirely in the database. It conforms to transaction processing. It seems when you are starting RMAN it's executing some commands (one 'ALTER SESSION...'. It's seems to be a batch which has a bad value for SORT_AREA_SIZE. Find it and modify to a proper value as message shows. If you can't find start RMAN by calling directly the executable ($ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman or %ORACLE_HOME%/bin/rman.exe).

hi how can i run an SQL script in oracle server in every first day of the month? i dont want to run that script manually every first day of the month.

What OS and version are you running?
You can schedule this from the OS side as well if you don't want to use the scheduler.
In linux you can make use of the crontab:
crontab -e
#then paste the following lines with the path to your scripts
