Why am I not able to synce my downloads to my ipod touch (2nd generation I think). I have not been able to sync my ipod since the change to the itunes.
I added four podcasts yesterday and was not able to sync them to my ipod. please help.

my ipod touch 2nd gneration works fine, but it will not shut off. This use to work: I would hold down both top and face button for about 10 seconds and it would shut down. Now nothing happens no matter how long I hold those 2 buttons down. Any suggestions?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My iPod touch (2nd generation) has started to act very odd following a sync I performed 2 days ago!
It switches on & off at random, will not let me adjust the volume and has also started to take screenshot pictures whenever I press the home button. To top it all off, it also switches off whenever I press the volume up button.
I have done a factory reset but the problems still persist.
These problems never occured prior to the sync and Apple want £80 to replace the item.
Help!If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

My iPod touch 2nd generation does not sync my contacts. I only have iCloud contacts in my address book. How can i sync that?
I do not fully understand you question. To use iCloud on an iOS device requires iOS 5 and the 2G only goes to iOS 4.1.2 and thysyu can't access iCloud, including contacts.
Maybe you could sync the iCloud contacts with anopther program and sync that program with the 2G iPod.

I have an Ipod touch 2nd generation with version 4.2.1 IOs and it is no longer recognized as a device when I plug into my computer. This means I can not change synch settings - any ideas on what I need to do ?

Why Can't I put my Ipod Touch 2nd generation into recovery mode?
I have an ipod touch 2nd generation. I set a passcode on the ipod and then i forgot it. i tried everything and nothing worked and eventually it got locked fully and says "connect to itunes" on it. This is a problem because i no longer have the computer that i last synced to. i have a new laptop now and i threw away the old one.
I know how to fix it. I just have to put it into recovery mode and then restore it.
For some reason, i can't put it into recovery mode. I tried all different methods.

i tried a couple more but i lost the links of them.
when i try to do the part of recovery mode where you have to start up the ipod. it doesn't go into recovery mode. it just starts up and pops up on itunes saying i have to unlock the ipod in order for the device to connect to Itunes!
Please help!Nevermind! after countless tries, i was able to get it into recovery mode!

Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.

I have this problem.. and after spending time at the Genius Bar yesterday, I discovered that my old ipod touch is obsolete..( the Ipod touch is a 32.bit system, while the newer operating system is 64... so they're simply not compatible.)
I expressed great dismay that my perfectly good ipod touch was now obsolete... then the genius suggested I export my contacts and calendars to Google..
That was easy to do, and then, on the Google community forum i learned about nuevasync.com, which lets you synch all of this back to your ipod touch via Exchange.
WOrked like a charm.
Nuevasync. com is free for an initial trial (10 days?) and then costs only 15$ per YEAR.. so I'll use this as a good work-around -
am trying to restore my Ipod touch 5 generation but I am receiving an error message that says your Ipod can not be restored you need your password I don't know my password so I don't know what to do. I have started the procedures 3 times but no luck till now
If it is asking for the screen-lock passcode then:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

My Ipod touch 2nd generation has been freezing today. We have updated, restored etc and now it will not play any music - as in no sound coming from it. It looks as if it is playing, but no sound comes out. It played ok 2 days ago. Any suggestions?
So, here is an update to my original question, in case anyone else has this issue. I spoke with a senior adviser at apple, who had me use the "devmgmt.msc" command in the search line of Windows 7; after expanding the USB controllers menu, she had me uninstall/delete the "apple mobile device driver" and then open "control panel" and "uninstall programs." Once the menu of programs was open, she had me highlight the program "apple mobile device controller", then repair it, and restart the computer. This fixed the issue and the iPod synced.
However, just one day ago, when I plugged in both the iPod, then the iPad (not at the same time), I get the message that "this library has already been synced to another iPod/iPad or other IOS device." It then asked if I wanted to set up as a new device or from restore of previous. That is wher I am right now; I am trying to get the same apple adviser again to discuss the case number. IPOD Touch 2nd Generation A1288 will not Restore/Reset
I have an iPOD Touch 2nd Generation A1288 that has gone into disabled mode. The Apple instructions for putting my device into recovery mode are not working and I have a new computer that has never connected/synced with this iPOD before :-( . iTunes just keeps telling me it can't connect to the ipod because I need to type my password into my ipod. IPOD screen still just says disabled. I have tried to get it into restore mode so many times that the "power off slider" won't appear on screen anymore when I hold down the sleep/wake button. The screen just goes black. When I press the home button the disabled screen pops up again. Do I need to take my iPOD to an apple store? The iPOD is named with my name and I have my ID to show the iPOD is mine so will they help me at the store? I have been researching for hours it seems and I just can't find further help on restoration/reset. Side note: was my daughters old iPOD and she does not remember what the password is. Ugh... teenagers! thanks ahead of time.

what is the point of the Ipod Touch(2nd generation)?Every single app is not compatible with it.Am I missing something?My cell phone cost 1/2 as much and does way more.This is why I don't normally purchase any apple products.Overpriced flashlight,that's about all it does.
There are still some apps compatible, with the 2G. Also, since September, Apple has now allowed download the last version of apps that were compatible with the 2G but have been updated to no longer be compatibles

I recieved an apple ipod touch 2nd generation as a gift and they have reset it to factory settings and now it is stuck on a screen with an adaptor showing with the itunes music symbol at the top of the screen.

Connect via cable to the computer that you intend to use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.
