Why are cookies not updated in the request when meta refresh is used?

I've written a web site that uses IIS Forms Authentication. It's configured to use authentication tickets with a sliding expiration. FireFox allows the ticket to expire while it works fine with Internet Explorer.
The web site uses a Keep Alive page that uses the meta refresh tag to periodically post back to the server to keep authenticated. This is done because some users have a need to use another web site that does not run in IIS and we don't want their authentication to time out while they are there.
I used Fiddler to monitor the requests and responses and found that when IIS sends the updated cookie with the authentication ticket containing the revised expiration date, the cookie appears to be accepted by FireFox (according to CookieSafe as recorded in the error console Ctrl-shift-J). When the meta refresh occurs, the browser sends the original request with the obsolete cookie. This keeps occurring until the expiration time is up on the ticket. IIS keeps sending new cookies but they seem to be ignored. IE, on the other hand, accepts the cookie and you see it in the next request for the keep alive page.
I figure it might be related to caching, but I think I disabled that and it still does it. I'm going to try adding a random code to the KeepAlive url but I can't see why that should matter. Why wouldn't FireFox send the cookies as the values are set? I'm hoping this can be fixed with a simple config change.

I was able to figure out what the problem was. The initial authentication cookie had a blank cookie domain while the new cookies that IIS would try to reissue had a domain name. IE doesn't seem to care but FireFox did. FireFox should have logged an error but instead said it was accepted.
My app works as it's supposed to now.

My problem is that I set Tools / Options / Privacy / History to "Use custom settings for history", and then under cookies I set Keep until: to "I close Firefox".
Yet, when I close my browser and restart none of the cookies are deleted. If I save my tabs, I stay logged in on the websites that are open on the saved tabs. But even if I close the website, and then quit. And then reopen the website after launching Firefox again, I am still logged in. Whereas Firefox is set not to remember any of my usernames or passwords, so the only way this can happen is via cookies. Therefore, the cookies are not deleted. But I can also see it in the list of cookies: it's full of old stuff.
So why are cookies not deleted despite this setting?
Firefox has beeen pretty soft on privacy lately, and frankly I don't understand why. The possibility to have history older than X days automatically deleted has also been gone for a long time, and now this cookie setting doesn't work, either.

I turned this setting on a long time ago. Basically, it's one of the first things I do after installing my OS and Firefox. So there shouldn't be so many old cookies there.
But anyways, just now I deleted all the cookies manually via Tools / Options / Privacy / Show Cookies / Remove All Cookies to be sure that all the old stuff is wiped out. And yet it still doesn't work.
I logged in to my Gmail account (the Remember Me box ain't checked), closed the tab containing my Gmail account and then closed Firefox. After that I verified in the Task Manager that firefox.exe is indeed not running anymore. So Firefox definitely shut down properly. Then, I restarted Firefox and opened a tab, entered gmail.com, and I was still logged in, therefore the cookies were not deleted.
I have the 10.1.101.000 version of ZoneAlarm, which as it turns out after googling it is indeed not the latest version (it was released in March 2012). The ZoneAlarm Firefox add-on that automatically comes with the firewall is disabled in Firefox.

Why can i not update to the new version of iPhoto and Garageband through the appstore?

When trying to update, I keep getting the pop-up:
"We could not complete your request
There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null)".
How can I update to the new version?
Im running on the OS X Lion 10.7.4 system for Macbook Pro I have the Version 9.2 of iPhoto and 6.0.4 of Garageband. If that's of any assistance.

One person had iLife and tried to update with a differnent AppleID and it rejected it, seems they bought a open box machine and iLife was installed using another AppleID for display purposes.

Why are URLs not saved in the address bar immediately upon typing?

This might be a tricky one to explain so please bear with me.
Sometimes, when I click on a link or type an address, the page will fail to load for any number of reasons. However, when this happens, sometimes Firefox doesn't save the URL of the page I attempted to visit in its address bar. Instead, the address bar is either blank or shows "about:blank". This means that hitting the Refresh button does nothing (since Firefox thinks there is no URL to refresh!).
Another symptom of this problem is if you open a link in a new tab (or window), then immediately attempt to bookmark the page while it is still loading. Say, for example, a page is taking a bit too long to load and you decide to bookmark it for later viewing. It turns out that what you're actually bookmarking is - again - the URL "about:blank".
This is incredibly frustrating behaviour. My expectation as a user is that *the moment you click or type a URL, that URL should be concretely cemented into the address bar*, and even if the page fails to load, takes a long time, or other problems occur, the refresh button should always work, the bookmark function should always work, and the window or tab should *always* have a concrete "identity" of that URL you clicked or typed.
Does this make sense?

I'm using Firefox 22 on Windows 7 64-bit, by the way.
You can very easily replicate this "bug" (or "feature"... ahem) by shift-clicking any hyperlink which opens up a new Firefox window. Immediately hit the "stop" button to stop the page from loading.
If you're fast enough, the address bar will be completely empty and you can't "refresh" or try again or anything.
In my opinion, the URL should be placed into the address bar the very moment that new window opens. I'd appreciate an explanation of why this is not already the case and if it will or will not be the case in the future.

Why are my files copying to the desktop when I am only trying to move them?

This is the wierdest thing. I have been a Mac user for 20 years and never saw this and can't seem to solve. My drive was bloated to capacity so I backed up, erased the drive and reinstalled Tiger and and my programs, transferred all my data and booted up.
My main files are in two folders on the root drive, each time I try to take a file or folder out and place it on the desktop, the mac copys it to the desktop instead of just moving it.
Like I said I have been using my mac the same way for years moving files between folders and the desktop constantly and I have never encountered this. The only way I have ever copyed files to the desktop is by holding the option key when dragging.
I only have one user installed. So I am cluless why it is doing this.

This looks like a case of incorrectly set file permissions. Holding down option in this case should move instead of copy, but it may prompt you for a password. For ideas on fixing up your permissions refer to these articles:

Also note that copy is the default action when dragging between mounted volumes, partitions, disk images, etc.

Why are there no updates for the 800w

I know there were 2 patches early on. The voice command works about 80% of the time, so I guess that's better than nothing; I can't see any improvement in the usb charging / recognition behavior; or let's just say it's still extremely poor.
I look at the Blackberry Bold forum and see that there are updates for that already; in fact it looks almost continuous. That is, there are signs of activity from BB and none from Palm.

What I was kinda hoping for with this new upgrade was a news column in the ministore...I think most fans now realize that it's the studios fault (thanks to Debbstar and others). What people don't know (me included) is WHY??? We want to know what's going on insead of speculating. Is there a contract legal issue regarding schedule changes at Sci Fi? My pc has a virus I just downloaded song from pc to kids ipods now both ipods are not working correctly could the virus be in the ipods, if not why are both not working doing the same thing right after unplugging from pc.

Can an ipod get a virus from a pc that has a virus. After connecting two different ipods to my pc to download music they both are not working correctly, could the virus have transferred to the ipod, if not why would both ipods not work and be doing the same thing? When trying to click on a game it just stays on the main screen.

Without proper system info we can't tell you much. Could be that your system does not meet the requirements and thus the latest version cannot be installed...

Why are audiobooks not part of the cloud?

Come on Apple. It is part of the experience. Put audiobooks on the cloud.

I would suspect that it's part of the licensing agreement between Apple and Audible.
If you want to be able to download audiobooks at anytime in the future, buy them direct at the Audible website.

Why does it not show all the pictures when i open myspace

I have apple mac pro desktop. When i open some profile on www.myspace.com, does my computer not show all pictures on that profile site. Can some one tell me if i need to download some software or plugin to see all pictures on the pages. I use safari beta.

No, you do not need additional software to view the pic, myspace is just not very mac friendly, as they say ( long time coming) they are working on it.
Myspace pages can be a nightmare, a couple of my friends pages for instance
have been known to crash my Safari beta & when on version S 2.
Try using Firefox as well, the "other" browser they recommend other then Safari
for Mac users, albeit they do not say which version of Safari to use.
Check pages including the one you have an issue viewing the pics on with the http://validator.w3.org/ to get an idea of how poorly coded they are.

I just checked my page which has not half the items that other pages use & it Failed validation, 91 Errors, one of my friends pages failed with 490 odd........
Of course I presume you have flash, as mentioned by QuickTimeKirk.
To check, in Safari under the Help menu, click on -> Installed plug-ins.
and check for Flash player.
Under Safari menu, Safari's preferences, Security tab- Web Content: you have Enable Plug-ins checked correct?

Avisports_store does not appear in the tree when clicked Refresh tree button in eclipse

I have connected my eclipse to Jump start kit remotely and facing the issue. I have attached screen shot here.

I just read your comment - "connected my eclipse to Jump start kit remotely". Does that mean that you have installed eclipse and JSK in different location/server/machine? or they are installed in same machine?
If installed in same machine, can you the do the following?
1. Remove the CSDT plugin from eclipse. Open eclipse with CMD - Open command line and type "eclipse - clean" and press enter.
2. Add the CSDT plugin as described in the guide - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/doc.1111/e29634/dt_quickstart.htm#WBCSD941
Note: you need to have correct plugin as mentioned in guide.
3. When you try to connect, do you see green icon after the connection details are entered as shown here - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/doc.1111/e29634/dt_quickstart.htm#BEHBAIAC? If not, then you are not connected. Check user's permission. If you are using fwadmin, this user must be a part of the RestAdmin group. Once added to RestAdmin group, try to connect and see if GREEN icon is shown.

Print Module templates layouts do not update on the fly

Print layouts do not update on the fly when attempting to choose between various Print Module>Template Browser> Lightroom or User templates. This occurs in all three Layout Styles. The very first layout chosen in Single Image/Contact Sheet, Picture Package, or Custom Package is the permanent 'default' and cannot be changed. The Preview will show as expected however any image stays stuck in the very first layout I chose after installing LR4 beta.
For example, I first chose Template Browser>Lightroom Templates>Maximum Size, and Layout Style>Single Image/Contact Sheet. Clicking through any other Templates (Lightroom or User defined) will alter the preview but not the layout display in the Print window. Same problem in either of the other Layout styles. I have been trying for days to rectify this, but it seems somehow more difficult than LR3. and not what I expect.
As a comparison, using the same steps in LR3 works perfectly as all print template/layouts can be changed on the fly as expected. I have no problems generating different layouts in LR3 and have been using LR print module since version 1 without this issue.
Is this a bug or are there any extra steps or workarounds I have not discovered? Any other testers seen this?

iMac OS 10.6.8. 8GB RAM.Processor Intel Core 2 Duo. NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS.
The steps as follows:
1) Lightroom 3.6 & LR4Beta exist side by side.
2) LR4 Beta> Print Module;
3) From filmstrip choose image;
4) Template Browser> Lightroom4Beta Templates>Maximum Size;
5) Preview displays as expected;
6) Layout Styles>Single Image/Contact Sheets
7) Template Browser> Lightroom4Beta Templates>click through any other templates (Lightroom or User defined);
8) Image layout in main window does not update;
9) Previews update;
10) Layout Style>Picture Package;
11) Template Browser>Maximum size is then automatically shown, however the template in the main window is actually (1) 7x5, (2) 2.5x3.5;
12) Any further attempts to change the layouts regardless of Style Layout choices are not successful.
13) Close LR4Beta>re-open LR4Beta;
14) Repeat test;
15) Print Module layouts do not update on the fly as expected;
16) Close LR4Beta and all applications;
17) Reboot iMac.
18) Open LR4Beta only;
19) LR4Beta>Print Module>Template Browser >Lightroom Templates>Maximum Size;
20) Image displays in main layout window with Template and Preview display as expected;
21) Choose different image>Template Browser>Lightroom Templates>Maximum Size;
22) Click through templates, layouts DO NOT update in main window although previews do automatically update.
23) CONCLUSION - In Lightroom 4 Beta>Print Module>Template Browser, image layouts do not change after initial choice as expected.
