Why are some websites turning hot pink in Firefox? In IE it's fine. I can't read text and buttons are missing as well as some photos. It's really difficult and I've already checked my Color settings. Help?

I've recently tried to make the switch to Firefox as we all know IE is unsafe and my computer was almost lost to a virus. However, it's been difficult as I can't log into my e-mail (after thirty seconds I get kicked back to the login page) and some screens come up as a violently pink color with pale blue font. Links disappear and often times the wording is rewritten in Times font over a button. Pictures disappear and simply say where the photo came from (like "Photo courtesy of the AP") I've tried to adjust settings but it's not helping any.

You can check the default color settings:
* Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors
Also make sure that "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above" has a check mark.

Updated graphics drivers change internal settings in your computer. If you have done a Windows update recently, that is more than likely what caused the problem...

I have very similar problem. Suddenly Firefox stopped work - It was working few days after ver. 4 update. I was looking everywhere for some solution but nothing worked.
- uninstalled firewall - did not worked
- added full exception for Firefox into the firewall - did not worked
- Firefox reinstall - did not worked
- Firefox complete reinstall (registry included) - did not worked
- IPv6 diseabling - did not worked
- diferent proxy options (no proxy, system proxy, autodetect proxy) - did not worked
- new firefox profile - did not worked
- complete coockies, history... deleted - did not worked
- there is only one solution which partly works - I have used public proxy addresses for Firefox but the ping is (750ms), down/up (0.8MB/0.2MB originaly (10MB/2MB) and yes I have tried different proxy server from different countries from my included.
- IE is working perfectly and without proxy
- other companies browser - did not worked too
- only IE is working
- I have used three different malware, trojans, spyware, anti-virus programs and nothing
It seems to me as hopeless situation or very clever move from Microsoft, I am forced to use IE - at least this works

FYI, if the phone was not originally sold in India, it can not be serviced in India. You will have to take it back to the country where it originated.

More than likely the problem is with the provider. You will need to check with them to find out what settings need to be on the phone to support MMS. You need to contact Straight Talk. SMS and MMS are carrier functions. The only settings on the phone are the ones you have mentioned, with the exception of APN settings, which are generally taken care of by the phone's carrier settings. I'm not aware of a carrier file for Straight Talk.

If I check a website offer, then try to delete , it refuses to go. I can log out, but then every time I want to use the browser, that site comes up and refuses to go. What can I do?

Quit Safari.
Hold the shift key down and relaunch Safari.
Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Uncheck the box next to " Remove saved names and passwords".
Click "Reset".

Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.

To transfer your photos:
Transfer and erase the Camera Roll:
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch Image Capture, iPhoto, or Aperture.
Select your iPad in the Devices list and click "Import all".
When the import finishes, you can erase the contents of the Camera Roll, if you want. That would be the quickest way, but deleting it on the iPad in the Photos.app would be safer, but more work.

Color Settings help

Don't know how many people here own a Dell U2711 monitor, but I just got mine and unsure as to how it works within PS CS5. Before I start, sorry if my writing is confusing, and forgive me if I'm being stupid anywhere, I'm new at this stuff. Anyway, my old ViewSonic monitor was profiled in PS as "Monitor RGB - sRGB"; working within the Monitor Color profile, I had no mismatches opening images with embedded sRGB. Doing the same thing on the U2711 however, gives me an embedded profile mismatch warning - that monitor is shown in PS as "Dell U2711 Color Profile, D6500". And here lies my problem...
Opening sRGB embedded images in North America General Purpose 2 profile on the U2711, the image looks desaturated, but outside of PS has normal colours. On my old monitor, those images looked the same outside and inside of PS in either Monitor Color or North America profiles. The difference in colour after PS editing and exporting on the U2711 has huge implications, as the image looks much more saturated outside of PS. I found two different solutions, neither of which I'm certain about:
The first is to use the Dell Color Profile inside PS and discard color management on sRGB embedded images, instead using the monitor's selectable sRGB preset for accuracy (which is apparently quite accurate); this eliminates colour difference outside of PS for me, but I can only embed the image with the Dell ICC profile. The second option is to work within the North America profile and simply proof with Monitor RGB (with U2711's sRGB preset enabled), and export as an embed sRGB image.
Basically my concerns are about accuracy; I don't know if I should soley rely on the U2711's preset representations of sRGB and Adobe RGB or if I need to calibrate the monitor again myself (it comes pre-calibrated). The images I am editing are for print and obviously I need to know if my editing will come out accurately. I realise this topic looks more directed to the monitor, but as PS is my only editing program they go hand in hand.

So I also have a U2711 monitor, and after an entire frustrating night of banging my head against the wall trying to figure out the correct settings to take advantage of the monitor's aupposedly awesome factory-calibrated color, I think I've finally figured it out. This is based on quite a bit of research (from reliable sources) as well as some personal experimenting. Short of using hardware calibration, I think this is the best bet for the U2711.
By the way, I'm assuming you're running Windows 7, which has OS-handled color management. I'm not sure how you pull this off in Vista.
So I agree with your method of relying on the U2711's hardware calibration to properly display sRGB colors. In fact, it seems to be the best way. It seems that there are two ways in which sRGB color can be theoretically displayed correctly on the U2711:
(1) rely on the Monitor's management: disable/uninstall any software device profiles (uninstall the U2711.icm device profile from Windows Color Management), and set the U2711 to "sRGB" preset (on the monitor's OSD)
or
(2) use software Color Management: install the U2711.icm file as a Device Profile in Windows Color Management, and turn off the U2711's hardware management (set color mode to "Standard" Preset)
Theoretically those two ways will both give you accurate sRGB color, but in practice (1) (Monitor's management) works better because each unit is individually factory calibrated. The software profile (contained in the U2711.icm file) is imperfect and isn't tailored to your specific unit, so it will be off a little. In my case it made the colors slightly green.
[Aside: You should not combine the software/hardware methods (i.e., install the U2711.icm device profile in Windows Color Management, and also set the monitor to sRGB Preset.) This will give undersaturated colors because the colors are being corrected twice]
However, this method fails if you try to display Adobe RGB colors. The reason is because Windows 7 assigns a default color profile to devices that don't have one installed. It worked for sRGB because the default default is, you guessed it, sRGB. So here's the way you display Adobe RGB:
1. Go to Color Management > Advanced > WCS Defaults > Device Profile. Change it to "Adobe RGB (1998)"
2. Set the U2711's Color Setting to "Adobe RGB" Preset (on the monitor itself)
Voila. So it seems like as long as Windows outputs the colors in the correct space that corresponds with the setting on the U2711, you'll get correct colors (relying on hardware calibration, like before). Of course this sucks because you have to go in and change the settings in Windows every time you load an image with a different color profile... it would be better if we could just rely on the U2711.icm software color management which wouldn't require switching, but it doesn't seem to be as accurate from my tests. Also, this hardware method fails for non-color managed applications.

Find dialog: Add criteria button and + buttons are missing.

I'm trying to use the command-f find to find a file using multiple search criteria. Seems that it would be simple enough. I want to search for files whose "kind" is "image" within a certain "date created" range. Here's the problem. My find dialog only allows me to use ONE criterion. I don't have an "add criteria" button below the "search for items whose" box. I also don't have the + button next to the criteria. So I can select "image" or I can select "date created", but not both.
I looked at the following article, which should address the topic, but my screen doesn't look like the one in this article.

HDR PRO in tool image has a large white block through it and buttons are unresponsive. How do I fix this?

When I open images in HDR Pro I am met with a washed out image with a big white block through the middle about a third of the size of the image.
This disappears when I export the image, which would be fine, but the buttons and sliders are not working in the app.
This means The tool is useless. Any fixes?

The symptoms you describe sound like there is an application-modal popup message box covering over the main HDR tool area but for some reason the message box is not fully rendered and you can only see the background, not the message it contains.
This could be a transient condition that would be remedied by rebooting, or it could be a video-driver incompatibility that might be resolved by updating your video drivers from the manufacturer’s website, or perhaps changing the Graphics Processor Settings in the Performance tab of Photoshop Preferences. You can uncheck Use Graphics Processor and restart Photoshop and see if things are different. If so, then turn it back on, but adjust the level of acceleration in the Advance Settings from Advanced to Basic or in between and also turn on and off the other settings in Advanced Settings area to see which ones make a difference.
If none of these grpahics system changes make any different, perhaps change the amount of memory that is being used in the PS / Prefs / Performance area, adjust it both more and less from what it is currently set to.

Why is the sparse bundle so much smaller than the backed up computer...can I be confident all files are backed up?

iphoto folder became big so I have moved it to an external drive. I made sure the external disk is not excluded from timemachine backup in tm preferences. Backup seemed to take forever (it actually said "preparing for backup" the whole time with a spinning progress bar) ie 24 hours and still the same pogress bar.
i stopped the process as i had no confidence anything was actually happening
When i open up time machine, an earlier version of my imac is there, but the external drive is kind of greyed and i cannot access it.
When I check the sparse bundle size, it is under 200 gb, when my imac is around 600 gb, 900 with the external drive.
Why is the sparse bundle so small relative to the imac? are there hidden data files outside of the sparse bundle? when checking the preferences, it states total included is 921 gb...yet that is not reflected in the sparse bundle size.
I want to be sure iphoto is actually backed up before deleting it from my imac.

Yes, quite possibly. Especially on Leopard and Snow Leopard, that process on network backups is excruciatingly repetitive and slow. It's improved greatly in Lion and later, but still isn't exactly quick.
The backup complete, i checked the contents of the backed up version of the external drive, and the iphoto folder was the same size as original, so I have confidence that iphoto is backed up. Now I could delete the iphoto from the imac, freeing up tons of space.

Still curious why the imac sparsebundle is only 160gb, while my macbook pro sparsebundle is about 700 gb...as though they are inversely named from the computers they back up.
Oh, I didn't realize you had two Macs backing-up to the TC. Which one is the external HD connected to?
Unless you've specifically excluded things, after the initial backup, the sparse bundle should be nearly the size of the data it's backing-up (TM does exclude some things like system work files, most caches and logs, and trash, so the backups are a few GBs smaller). As you do more backups, of course, it will grow.
So please clarify how much data is on each drive, Mac, and sparse bundle.
Also, the 2tb time capsule has 258 gb of 1.8 tb available....am I to suppose that there is hidden backup data not in the sparse bundles?
Sparse bundles are odd critters. They don't automatically shrink when things are deleted from them. Instead, the vacated space is used for new files until it's full, then it begins to grow again. Time Machine will "compact" them when necessary, to reclaim the empty space, but doesn't take the time to do it unless it's out of room.
You can do that manually if you want, per the pink box in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #12.

Flash videos and buttons are disappearing...?

I start my home with a site that has an editable reigon, and
a few flash buttons which are layered above a "transparent" flash
video, the video plays perfectly the first time. I proceed to click
on one of the links which leads me to another page with one of
these flash videos nestled behind yet more flash linking buttons
and a table, this also is working perfectly the first time. Then I
click yet another link from that page and am now at a simple page
that consists of only a background and 2 flash link buttons which
each lead back to the two previous pages described. If i click on
the link that leads to the first page the Flash buttons reman in
full working order on the 1st page but the video fails to start
playing again, even if I refresh. The same goes for if I click the
link to the second page described, except the buttons do not appear
as well as the flash video failing to start. I am fairly new to
dreamweaver, but have been using flash for quite some time. I
cannot paste the codes here since they are way too long. please
tell me if you have any ideas on what I should do, your help is
greatly appreciated. Sorry about this post is confusingly worded.

Try running Firefox 4.0 Beta 7 in 32-bit mode (close Firefox, control-click the Firefox.app icon, select "Get Info", and then check the box, "Open in 32-bit mode"). This worked for another Mac user in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/765367 this other thread].
