Why can't I delete individual photos in Photo Stream?

Is this not possible? It seems ridiculous to capture every blurred photo or a mistake and not be able to edit the stream.

On the Mac version try Control Clicking the individual messages concerned.
I am not sure why you iPad is reacting differently from your other iOS device.

When you open iPhoto, click on Photos, select a photo, it should be outlined with a yellow border. Then click COMMAND delete, click DELETE PHOT (you can also hold down command and select multiple photos)
It will send it to trash in iPhoto, you can then select the photos in the trash (you can also do a COMMAND A to select all in the trash)and they will outline then SHIFT+COMMAND+DELETE, and click on do you want to delete X photos permanently, click OK then they should be sent to your trash, empty trash securely(SHIFT+COMMAND+DELETE) and they should be forever gone.
this is using iPhoto 9.2.3

You can only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc directly in the iPad's Photos app.
For photos that were synced from your computer you will need to move/remove/de-select them from where they were synced from on your computer and re-sync - or if you want to delete all synced photos then you might be able to do so by swiping across the 'Photo Library' line in Settings > General > Usage > Photos & Camera (that should give a 'Delete' button, but I haven't tried tapping it to see if it works).

Did you recently start using iCloud to backup your photos?
Wife had the same problem today. Remembering that I had recently signed her up for more space on iCloud and started backing up her photos, I decided to roll the dice and turn that off. Plug phone back into computer and *boom* I now have the option to delete. Now I just have to figure out how I can do both = \

I didn't say SJ announced the lack of a delete facility.
I meant the way it works now is the way it worked when it was announced by him back in June because the OP was implying that due to SJ no longer being with us, somehow that had some bearing on there being no delete function, and somehow that must mean Apple are struggling without him.
Too frequently on these forums lately, people attribute what they see as "bugs", "omissions" or "oversights" as being a result of Steve Jobs no longer being around, when in fact these things were decided long before Steve even stepped down as CEO.
Photo Stream wasn't developed in-between 5th October and 12th October, so SJ would've known about the lack of a delete function way back in June, and long before that too.

Why can't I delete anything?

I'm mega OCD about free space on my laptop so I often store things on the wdmycloudex2 that shows up for me. A while ago I put a bunch of photos and video clips on there that I later tried to delete. It looked like it deleted them but the folder was still there and inside was a bunch of transcoded files that I could see were all the pictures and videos. When I tried to delete those it told me "You require permission from Unix User/root to make changes to these files" ... I asked my dad why I couldn't delete them but he told me he didn't know, even though he was the one who set up my laptop but either way I don't think he will be helping me. What does this mean? Why can't I delete anything that I put on there? It says it is mine... "Cleo (//WDMYCLOUDEX2)" and I put the files on there. But now I can't delete them.

You checked the permissions on the files/folders in the control panel of the MyCloud? I've read that occasionally the permissions have been reset by various reasons. Also, there could have been something within the files/folders that had corrupt data or are considered open by the computer (and, therefore, cannot be deleted).

Are you trying to delete files from your Time Machine backup? Don't do that!! If you have files/photos you wish to delete then delete them from iPhoto or whatever photo application you are using. They will be removed from the backup by the TimeMachine backup system. Your backup is not a simple file it is a time/event dependent organizational picture of your system sort of like a multilayered transparent collage, but if you start pulling random pieces out it will collapse the file system. Why can't I print a FULL PAGE PHOTO IN PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS VERSION 10, (letter size 8.5 x 11?) I have tried resizing, cropping and anything else I can possibly think of to no avail!!! Sarah, my printer drivers are updated! This problem seems SO COMPLICATED when it should be so easy! It's like the more advanced these programs get the less you can figure them out!!!! I'am ready to offer a reward to fix this!!! The stress of trying to figure this out is making me crazy!

You found them ... where? Are they in Safari somewhere?
If so, do Settings > Safari > Clear History and Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data
If that doesn't clear them (and they are from Safari), try Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data and clear that area.

The general answer is to select the photo(s) in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (file menu ==> export). In the finder right click on that folder and burn to disk

Thanks for the question. Was this song purchased from the iTunes Store? If so, it may be that your device is configured to show all of your purchased music that has not yet been downloaded. The following resource may resolve your issue:
