Why is my iMac (G5) not compatible with mountain lion? I have 4 GB ram (667) and around 90GB hard drive space.

iMac G5 can only be upgraded to 10.5.8.
If you have continuing use, you are among the lucky ones.  I purchased many of these used from a company that shut down its American office.  Many of these eventually suffered from the "bad capacitor" problem and required a motherboard replacement from Apple.  I was lucky in that my local Genius bar approved these for no charge, even though Apple's extended warranty had expired.
My last one was my desktop Mac.  It's power supply failed in 2010 and I paid for a replacement.  In Summer 2011 when its HD failed, I decided it was time to move on and purchaed a Mac Mini, which I continue to run on Lion.

  • Can anyone recommend a Multi-function black and white laser printer for that works with Mountain Lion? The MFP can be either 3-in-1  or 4-in-1 i.e with fax

I bought an epson xp650 a couple of months ago and cannot fault it. It does everything I require and it is the wifi model so I can print directly from my ipad/iphone. Not sure if you are asking about the colour of the unit or just to be able to print black and white, Obviously all printers will print black and white but just to give you a little more info the printer I bought is the white version and it looks really nice sat next to my imac 27''
    Hope this helps.

  • Primera LX 400 Label Printer No Longer Working with Mountain Lion

    Hi-
I upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion and most everything works OK except my Primera LX400 label printer. The error message I get when trying to install the driver is "Software for this printer isn't available from Apple. Contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software."
I contacted Primera but I haven't received an answer yet. Anyone else solve this problem with Mountain Lion and Primera Printers?
For those that depend on the Primera printers, you might want to wait before upgrading.

For those with the same problem, Primera says they will have new drivers up 7/31/12:
    http://www.primera.com/primera_printer_drivers.html
I decided to check a day early (7/30/12) and the driver for my LX400 is up and I was able to install and use it successfully.

  • HT3500 Problem printing from MacBook Air with Mountain Lion to HP Photosmart Premium C310a Printer

My HP Photosmart Premium C310a printer used to work fine with my MacBook Pro printer running Lion.  I bought a new MacBook Air that comes of course with Mountain Lion.  I added a new printer from the System Preferences.  The printer will print sometimes.  Sometimes the printer just restarts itself and then will print.  I used to have an excellent HP Scan Utitlity.  That is now gone and it is really hard to scan anything.  I am beginning to think it is time to get rid of the HP Printer and buy another one that fully supports Mountain Lion.  Can anyone help me here?

Hi - if you haven't done this already, HP support lists several download options including software for OS X for your printer - I would try that route since what comes with Mountain Lion doesn't seem to work - let me know how you make out

  • Is Print Shop 2 compatible with Mountain Lion?

I'm considering buying Print Shop 2 (mainly for the purpose of printing labels, though I'm also generally looking for something to replace MS Publisher).  I can't find out, though, whether the current version of Print Shop 2 is compatible with Mountain Lion.  Does anyone know?

    http://www.mackiev.com/support_tps.html
Go to the above link. Once you are there, scroll to the bottom of the page. Select Technical Support. You will get a pop-up that says Technical Support Request. Fill in your info. When you get to PROBLEM TYPE, select "Can't install, Not enough space message." Then send it. You will get a reply almost immediatly with the updated installation download. This should help you. My print shop works great now. Hope this helps.

  • Why Doesn't My BarCode Scanner Work With Mountain Lion?

I'm running Mac OS X 10.8.4 and I have two brand new CipherLab 1500 barcode scanners.  When I plug the scanners into a PC, they work fine.  When I plug them into either of my iMacs the scanner light comes on when I pull the trigger, but when I point the scanner at a barcode, the light goes out, there is no "beep" to indicate a successful scan, and not data is displyed (I'm testing it with TextEdit).  The light will not come back on when I pull the trigger again.  I've spoken with CipherLab and they say there's nothing wrong woth the scanners (and I tend to believe them) and that the reason the light doesn't come on when I pull the trigger after attempting to scan a barcode is because the scanner's waiting for a reply from the computer and won't re-scan until it receives one.  CipherLab also says they've tested their scanners on OS X (the tech I spoke with didn't know what version they've tested them up to) and they "work fine."
    Any thoughts?

Check http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 Printer and scanner software available for download to determine if you need drivers and also try the solutions mentioned KB Articles:  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11143 OS X Mountain Lion: Reset the printing system and http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11070 OS X Mountain Lion: Troubleshoot a network printer which should work w/scanners too.

  • My printer does not work with mountain lion

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and now my HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer does not work.  I downloaded the required driver from the App Store but am still not able to connect.  Is there actually a solution for this or do I need to find a way to downgrade my OS to one that is compatible with my printer?

    From the HP site:
    Compatible operating systems
    Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista®, Windows® XP (SP3)* or higher (32-bit only): *Supports 32-bit only; Mac OS X v 10.5, v 10.6 or v 10.7; Linux (For more information, see http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html)
But then also on the HP site they have drivers for the printer for 10.8. See here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4142&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&s w_lang=&product=4323659#N194
I would try the driver from HP.

  • Why is my macbook air not compatible with mountain lion?

When i want to buy montain lion in the app store i get the message that my machine (Macbook air) is not compatible. Why is that and can i do something to solve that problem?

Because your model is old and does not support the 64-bit EFI ROM requirement to install Mountain Lion. If you meet the 2 GB RAM requirements you could install Lion:
Upgrading to Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • Epson 3880 printer doesn't connect with mountain lion

My Epson 3880 printer is connected to my Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion with a USB cable.  Since changing to Mountain Lion, I have been unable to print.  I've replaced the driver on the original software disc with the current driver shown on the Epson website with no improvement.  The message I get tells me that the printer is "not communicating" with the Macbook.  Any thoughts on how to fix this would be great.

Try deleting the /Library/Printers/Epson and /Library/Caches/Epson folders, resetting the printing system in Print & Scan prefs, then installing the printers from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398.

As far as Snapz Pro X 2 functionality, some major backend Digital Rights Management changes enacted by Apple may be what is preventing you from recording movies you were previously able to record using our software. Basically, our program can no longer access videos before the DRM protections are enabled, unfortunately we have no control over these changes. Please see the following FAQ:http://www.ambrosiasw.com/support/faqs/products/snapz-pro-x /Why-does-the-content-of-my-capture-display-as-a-checkerboard
BTW I am current on the latgest version.
Does anybody know how to work around my problem? I need to be able to record videos on my computer.

  • Why is my macbook pro running slow with mountain lion?

After installing Mountain Lion, I find navigating, opening programs, etc. is taking more time, why is this?

Immediately after installing Mountain Lion, your system will be rebuilding the Spotlight index. This should only take a couple of hours at most. If the problem persists you can run diagnostics. I just happen to have written a little diagnostic program recently. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/download/EtreCheck.zip, run it, and paste the results here.
Disclaimer: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

  • Why is the internet speeds so slow with mountain lion?

I have noticed an significant reduction in Internet speeds since I purchased my new Mac Mini.  Same internet connection, more memory (8GB), nice new 27" Thunderbolt display but my Dell laptop handles streaming video (YouTube) much better.  Even my iTunes do not run well.  Significant pauses on many songs from iCloud.
I have not chnaged the default settings and I have tried Safari and Chrome browers with no noticiable differences.  Any suggestions?

    That worked.  Thanks.
