Why did i get a different headphone from the one in the pic? It has no volume control button.

I am really dissapointed with my order. I bought an apple headphone with remote and mic online, and i received a headphone that doesnt look and function the same as the one advertised. It has no volume control button with the + and - signs. This is the second pairs i bought the headphone and this one definitely looks different from the pairs i had previously. I hope someone can clarify this thing, and it's really troublesome if i wanted to return the headphone.

Are you sure you ordered the earphones WITH remote and volume control? Look at your bill; does it say something like "with remote and mic"? I think you should contact Apple Store for their assistance. Perhaps they really made a mistake and shipped you some old stock item. I agree, shipping and reshipping takes time and is troublesome. Hope you'll find a solution though.

  • Why do I get two different results from the same coefficients?

I am getting two different results from the Polynomial Evaluation function.
For the first one, I am getting the coefficients from a Polynomial Fit function.  I feed the coefficients from the Fit function into the Poly Eval function and get the correct result of 12.8582 when I evaluate 49940.
For the second one, I create constant array of the SAME values that were returned from the Polynomial Fit function (i typed them in).  However, I am getting an incorrect result of -120.7913 when I feed the constant array into the Poly Eval function when I evauate 49940.
How can this happen when I am using the same array values?
Attached is an image of what I am explaining.

    Hi Altran,
are you sure about using the "same" coefficients?
Did you compare them? Did you (atleast) set the display properties to 17 significant digits?
Please attach a VI instead of a picture...

Why am I getting two different conversations when the same person txts me and sends me an I message? I thought they should be in the same conversation?

I'm experiencing something similar. My conversations are kept together but if the screen is opened to a conversation and I receive a text from that person it doesn't show up on the screen. The message alert in the upper corner indicates a new text but I have to back out of the screen and go back in to read it.

If it was an audiobook then they are one-time only downloads, to get it on your other devices you need to sync it to them and not re-download it oneach. • Why am I getting 2 IP addresses from the cable modem?

I recently renewed my IP address for my cable modem (by booting into Windows and doing the ipconfig thing). It did this successfully and assigned me a new static IP.
However back in OS X I am now getting two IP addresses depending on whether I connect by ethernet or Airport. When I connect my MacBook straight to the cable modem by ethernet it gives me the new IP address. However when I connect the Airport Extreme Base Station to the cable modem and do all the relevant restarting, it insists I still have the old IP address. This can't be right. Is it an errant preference hanging about in the Base Station? I have tried restoring it to default and setting up from scratch but it persists.
I know the difference between public and distributed addresses... the two I'm talking about are the public kind (e.g. 82.114.223.43 etc)

What do you mean by "old" and "new" IP addresses? What TYPE of IP addresses are you talking about? Specific numbers for example?
In general, the typical cable modem set up should work as follows: your ISP will assign an IP address to your cable modem. This IP address can be permanently fixed (static) or occasionally change (dynamic) - whether you get a static or dynamic IP address depends on your ISP. This IP address is considered your "public" IP address.
What you plug in directly after the cable modem will take on this IP address, since the cable modem merely passes on the IP address info (and serves no routing functions). So, if you plug in your MacBook directly to the modem, your MacBook will take on the IP address that your cable modem passes through, as assigned by your ISP; only your MacBook will have internet access.
On the other hand, if you plug in to the modem a router, such as Airport Extreme Base Station, the router will be assigned the "public" IP address received from the cable modem on its WAN (wide area network) side, i.e. the "side" that interfaces with the public Internet. When your router is set up to SHARE this one public IP address with multiple computers/clients, it has to create a private sub-network, otherwise known as the LAN (local area network). Whether you plug computers in via ethernet to the router, or connect wirelessly to the router (or even both!), your router will create IP addresses for each of its LAN clients so that it can identify everyone. As long as the client has a different hardware MAC address, the router will assign it an unique IP address. (That's why you had 2 IP addresses for your MacBook - one for the ethernet connection, and the other for the Airport connection - each network interface having a different MAC address, and thus receiving a different IP address from the router.)
Your router will always maintain its WAN IP address, as long as your ISP gives you that IP address (via your cable modem). However your MacBook, Windows and other clients may be assigned different LAN IP addresses depending on how you configured your router's DHCP server settings. The LAN clients in the context of your subnet would NOT be assigned the router's public WAN IP address when the router is set up to share that connection.
If you understand the whole WAN v. LAN IP addressing thing, but you're not getting the results you expect, try powering off EVERY single piece of equipment on your network. Wait several minutes so that everything is cleared from the equipments' memory. Then power on and wait until the equipment is in ready state, in this sequence: 1-cable modem..., 2-main router (AEBS)..., 3-remote bases/bridges (if any)..., 4-computers and other client devices.

  • Why do I get two different RGB equivalents for one CMYK color?

I’m helping someone incorporate their blue logo into business cards and a branding guide. The Illustrator file they gave me of their logo is set to the CMYK color space, so I used these CMYK values for their branding guide. When I click on the RGB tab to see the converted values for the CMYK color, they are insanely different from the RGB equivalent I get when using an online color converter, like Adobe Kuler. In both InDesign and Illustrator, the CMYK values for the blue logo are 79, 56, 2, 0 and when I click on the RGB tab in InDesign or Illustrator, these programs tell me that the RGB equivalent is 69, 112, 179. However, when I use the Adobe Kuler website and plug in the CMYK values, the website (and other websites like it) tell me that the RGB equivalent to this CMYK color is actually 54, 112, 250. I’m not sure which RGB value is actually correct.
That said, I tried plugging in the RGB values I get from the design software into the Adobe Kuler color converter, and I get totally different CMYK values than what the design software tells me. Which color values do I include on the client's branding guide?
I've heard that blue colors are notoriously hard to convert between RGB and CMYK, and I'm wondering if that's why I'm getting these drastically different values from different color conversion tools. I've also read that different ICC profiles might affect the CMYK/RGB values in the design program, but I'm not well-versed in this. Please help!!

the CMYK values for the blue logo are 79, 56, 2, 0 and when I click on the RGB tab in InDesign or Illustrator, these programs tell me that the RGB equivalent is 69, 112, 179.
69|112|179 is the conversion you'll get using the default North American General Purpose Color Settings—or US Web Coated SWOP v2 converted to sRGB. As Willi implies there are many flavors of CMYK and RGB so different sources and destinations, as well as the conversion intent, will produce different results.
So "branding" color this way doesn't really work because 79|56|2|0 CMYK will look very different on newsprint than it will on a GRAcol profiled press with glossy paper, and 69|112|179 RGB will look very different in a CC app with a ProPhoto RGB assignment then it will look in a web browser with no profile assigned.
The best you can do is qualify the values—79|56|2|0 US Web Coated (SWOP) v2 CMYK = 69|112|179 sRGB IEC6196-2.1 RGB

  • Why did I get an Emergency Alert for the Nemo Blizzard at 4 am?

This @^%^!*#*!&!@ system just sent a blaring alert to my iPhone at 4 am EST warning me about a blizzard I already knew about, literally scaring me out of bed. Now, after some middle-of-the-night research, I understand it's the FEMA IPAWS system (http://www.fema.gov/integrated-public-alert-warning-system). What bureaucratic knucklehead at FEMA decided that we needed this alert at 4 am?
I wonder how many thousands of other iPhone users who didn't even know they had the Emergency Alerts feature are wondering why they've been jostled awake this morning... and have turned the feature off as a result. (Settings==>Notifications==>Government Alerts)
How impossibly stupid can FEMA be? Sending the message at 8 pm last night would have been amusing (there were already 6 inches on the ground, and everyone had been talking about the storm for 2 days). Now I want to rip someone's lungs out...
Apple, is this the right way for me to find out about some obscure little feature that was included in a recent release - turned on?

Actually, I also got a FEMA warning via the same system on Thursday night, which was completely appropriate. But sending an alert with a klaxon-like sound effect at 4 am is just ponderously dumb. It's not like it's a flood where I might need to evacuate. I'M AT HOME ASLEEP like the thousands of others who were jolted awake by this ill-timed alert.
It reminds me of when AT&T used to wake me at 7 am on Saturday mornings because their big overnight mainframe batch program had completed at 6 am and immediately sent out a notice that I was 60% through my hours for the month. Nice message, dumb timing.
Big organizations like FEMA and AT&T should be capable of assessing the time-criticality of their broadcast messages, and schedule them appropriately. Who at FEMA decided that it was critical to issue a warning in the middle of the night?!?!

  • IS it possible to make every second value, plotted to a chart, to get a different colour from the first value!

    Hi to all
I got this chart witch plots values from a multimeter, Parallel with that I control a switch to my home made HW, so the multi meter measures a current when the switch is on and Volt when Off. The chart cant see diffence between these two measurements so I need the chart to plot the Current in one colour and the Volts in another colour. Can I find proberty for the chart that can manage that???

  • Why did my available app update disappear from the app store

A few weeks ago, I had an update available for one of my iphone apps that I chose not to download since it was said to have bugs.  As a result, I had an outstanding badge app icon.  Just today I realized that the alert was missing.  At first I thought I might have accidentally updated the app when I synced my phone last, but when I search for the app in the app store, it still gives me the option to update (I've included a screen shot below). It just no longer shows an available update under the update tab (see second screen shot)  It's not a huge deal at the moment since I don't want to install this update, but I'm afraid the problem might continue with future updates I want to install. Any ideas? I restored my phone from an icloud backup a few days ago, but once the restore was complete, the update alert still showed correctly, so I don't think that's the problem.

It's good to know I'm not the only one with this problem.  I had noticed the issue with my downloaded apps displaying the price, but I thought maybe it's always been that way since I never install apps through iTunes on my computer, just my phone.  My husband's computer is doing the same thing, but he didn't have any outstanding updates on his phone, so I'm not sure whether his phone is having the same issue.  My guess is that if other people are having this problem, they don't have any outstanding updates, so they aren't aware of it.  I know many people who make a habit of not updating apps have jailbroken devices and can install an app that hides the badge app icon.  I guess for now we need to wait it out and see if the problem fixes itself.  It's still annoying though.
P.S.- I just noticed that on my phone if I search for a previously installed app, it just shows the price instead of giving me the option to "Install".  I can reinstall it by brining it up in the list of purchased apps, so it's just when searching for the app.  Also if I search for a currently installed app, it says "open" instead of showing the price, so it's only with previously intalled apps.  Whatever the issue, I hope it's fixed soon.

  • FAQ: I opted out of marketing email from Adobe. Why did I get an email about Elements membership?

Q: I opted out of marketing email from Adobe. Why did I get an email about Elements membership?
A: The email you received was an operational notice regarding changes to Elements membership. Only users who may be affected by these changes received this email.

    Hi Steve,
I can personally ensure you get it if after waiting the 60 days you still haven't recieved it yet.
You would also want to ensure:
    - You have the annual (yearly) Creative Cloud plan
    - You log into the Creative Cloud website from within 3 of the Adobe Touch Apps from the tablet using your Adobe ID associated with your membership
If all this looks correct and you don't recieve an email after the 60 days, send me a private message and I'll ensure you get it.

  • Why did I get charged for the gift card from the student deal with macbook pro?

Why did I get charged for the $100 gift card student deal that came with the macbook pro? I was told that it would be taken credited off my credit card however; that has not happened. Am I missing something? Have other people been charged for this as well?

The same thing happened to me but it made sense.
I ordered a MBPR on Jun 12 for $2879 which qualified for the free student gift card. The gift card was available to ship (delivers June 20 - June 21) but the MBPR wasn't available until a month later (deliverys July 3 - July 10). Instead of holding the gift card until the MBPR was ready, Apple charged me $100 for the card then shipped it to me.
About a month later when the MBPR was ready, Apple charged me $2779 then shipped it. In the end, I was charged the correct amount $2779 + $100 = $2879.
Why did Apple do this? I suspect that some people have cheated Apple by ordering a Mac to get the promotional gift card then canceled their order after the gift card was spent. Apple is trying to protect itself.
BTW, if you return the mac then you're expected to return the gift card. If you've spent any amount of the card then Apple will deduct this from your refund.

  • Why did Adobe get rid of 'No Color Management' option in CS5

I use this option (in earlier CS verisons) when printing digital negatives on transparency film on my Epson 3880. There are a few work-arounds, including a printer utility from Adobe (which only works on tIff files, so it's limitied).
But why, oh why did they get rid of this option in the first place. Did someone just decide, gee, I don't think that's a feature we want anymore in our program, so, puff, it's gone? I hate it when program 'updates' make my work harder instead of easier.

Nope...I was told this by engineers familiar with the initiative...

ACPU and for that matter i1Profiler sends print image data (untagged I assume) through ColorSync and the print driver the exact same way as Lightroom and PSCS5 do when Application Manages Color is selected when printing. The only difference is that LR and PS do not allow you to send untagged image data.
ACPU does send the untagged data through Colorsync, but the image data gets converted by Colorsync or ACPU to the printer profile chosen in the print driver as set up in the Print window of ACPU...so, since the document is in the final profile space of the printer, the print driver does nothing (null transform). Then you choose don't manage color in the driver. Exactly how ACPU works with Colorsync to avoid having Colorsync to an unwanted color transform isn't clear (would have to ask the engineer that wrote it), ACPU is clearly doing SOMETHING different than Photoshop and Lightroom when sending the image data to the printer.
You can see what profile gets embedded when printing from ACPU by setting up the driver and saving a PDF and opening in Photoshop. When I printed to PDF from ACPU after setting up the driver to use Epson Glossy paper on an Epson R3000, the embedded profile in the PDF was SPR3000 Premium Glossy. Which if sent to the printer should result in a null transform. This is similar to the CS5 work around to tag an image with a color space and have that same color space set in Photoshop Manages Color and set the Printer Profile color space to be the same thus bypassing the Colorsync "generic RGB" transform. However, that work around no longer works with Photoshop CS6 (we were warned that this might happen BTW).
I haven't tried it yet, but it's possible that you could still work around this in CS6 if you take an untagged target, assign the printer profile, then use Photoshop Manages Color with the profile being the same printer profile and then in the driver set do not color manage...actually, scratch that–I just tried that and CS6 pops a warning that "No Color Managment is not supported" when trying to print without the proper color management and to get ACPU with a link to download it. I guess Photoshop got pretty serious about disallowing this sort of printing. Heck, you can't even print to PDF.
On the other hand, the simplest solution for me is to simply print out the target using i1Profiler...
