Why did my CanoScan 8800F stop scanning my 35mm slides into IPhoto 09 version 8.1.2 (424)?  I did it exactly the same way as I had done about two hundred other slides.

I had been using my CanoScan 8800F unit to transfer 35mm slides into digital pictures within my IPhoto 09, Version 8.1.2 (424).
All of a sudden it stopped transferring photos even though I could hear it scanning.  Any ideas "why/"

I guess I will wrap this up. I have abandoned iPhoto and viewing my Photo Streams using it and moved to Adobe products (Bridge + PS). So that's that.

  • My brand new iphone 5 cuts out during calls all the time, doesn't send mt text messages and then when it does it sends them twice?! why?? is it just apple or my network provider? bearing in mind my iphone 4 did exactly the same, so its a new handset   sim

    Hi,
i have just updated my iphone 4 16gb to an iphone 5 16gb
The iphone 4 had horrific problems, for example: Cutting out on calls, it going silent, me not being able to hear the person i was speaking to and them being able to hear me, and then visa vera.. also the main button at the bottom started to break.. my text messages weren't sending and then when they did they would send several of the same one.. also with mixed messages in them.. some of the texts had been form ages ago and had been deleted anyway and bits of them would re appear in the middle of the text, but only show to the person recieveing the text.
I thought all of this might have been some water damage as i had nearly had it for 2 years... However on Tuesday.. ( 29th Jan) i recieved my new upgrade of the iphone 5.. i was so excited, but then today.. 2 days after recieving it, its starting to do EXACTLY the same things my old phone did... cutting me off, going quiet on the phone, not sending texts, then sending several ones... sending mixed texts. Safe to say i am fuming!!! i am with vodafone and rang them today asking why?! they said it couldnt be my handset as its a new one, couldnt be the sim because thats new too so it must be the area signal.. so she checked for me.. came back to me and said that the signal in my area is perfectly fine....?!?!?! that makes it even worse!!! so i have asked to return it....!! i was going to go with a different provider thinking that it was vodafone??but after looking on here it seems like its apple? i am very disappointed as i love everything else about the phone, but its impossible to have a phone like this! especially when i use it for work too!

My wife is having the same problems as a reciever. She works in a school as a teaching assistant and her teacher sends messages that are mixed with previous texts from ages ago.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem or is it only her and this poster?

  • Entering slides into iphoto?

What is the best way to enter several hundred old slides into iphoto?

    CH50:
As PhillyPhan mentioned if the slides need to be scanned first then there are several flatbed scanners that can scan transparencies and has software to create a separate file for each slide as long as there's a wee bit of space between the two. You'll have to look at a very high resolution so that the resulting file is useable for printing, etc. But it can be done. I'd look at the Canon line as one possibility.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

    HI Martin,
i am not realy sure what you want!?!?
i think you want to display only a part of the values you read from XYZ
    so what you can do:
write all the values in an array.
the size of the array is the max. value of the slide bar
now you can select a part of the array (e.g. values from 100 to 200) and display this with a graph
the other option is to use the history function of the graphes
    regards

  • How do I save a photo after I have zoomed in on it?  I want to save the zoom-in as a new photo and can't work out why this doesn't work the same way saving a cropped image, or adjusted image does.  Thank you.

How do I save an image after I have zoomed in on it?  I can't work out why I can't save a zoom-in the same way
I can save a cropped image or an adjusted image. Thanks, Lily A.

Hi Matt, thanks for your reply.  Have realised that Zoom in Iphoto is just  a viewing tool and not an editing tool.
Was creating beautiful abstractions by zooming in and wanted to create a new image of the result.   Have since discovered that cropping after zooming takes me a little way to where I want to go but it isn't the same effect.  Will perhaps have to try to create it when actually shooting.  Am doing a photoshop course in February and maybe will learn a bit more then, too.  Am pretty much an amateur just finding my way.
    Thanks again,
    Best, Lily

  • HT204406 I have subscribed to match on iTunes and organized my music on my Mac Book.  Why does it not appear the same way on my iPad

I would like my music to appear organized in the same way on my iPad as I have done it on my Mac Book.  (and on my iPhone as well)  Since it is in the cloud, why does it not appear the same way in all devices?

The purpose of iTunes match is to make your music library available to all of your devices anywhere. It will sync Playlists, but no other type of organization you may have made.
If you're having trouble, be sure you are logged into the same Apple ID on all devices but be sure to read this article and pay special attention to associating your devices with an Apple ID. There are important restrictions you should know about.

    1. Make sure software is up to date
    2. Make sure FaceTime is enabled; Settings>FaceTime
    3. Make sure Date and Time is correctly set; Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    4. Make sure Push Notification is enabled
    5. Make sure phone number or email address is correct
    6. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) until you see the Apple Logo

  • Why are lyrics not viewable in itunes in the same way as on the ipod?

Why are lyrics not viewable in itunes in the same way as on the ipod? In itunes all you get is "Get Info" then "Lyrics" and that screen then locks itunes until you close it. Inflexible, annoying and surely unnecessary?

All songs need Album, Artist and title.
Also, look under Artist -> Compilations.

  • Can anyone tell me why Facebook won't sync to all my contacts in my iPhone 4S. Even when the name are exactly the same as they appear on fb?

I just got my iPhone 4S today and I'm trying to finish getting everything set up how I like it... Unfortunately, I can't figure out why certain contacts won't sync to Facebook even though the names are exactly the same as they appear in Facebook... Help please >_<

Not sure why, but any problem with a 3rd party app is the responsibility of the 3rd party app developer - in this case Facebook.

  • When I try to open iPhoto it begins the process and then stops. It brings up a message that iPhoto has quit unexpectedly. Efforts to reopen it bring the same result. My timemachine has been accidentally turned off. I have 20,000 photos on iPhoto. Help!

When I try to open iPhoto it begins the process and then stops. It brings up a message that iPhoto has quit unexpectedly. Efforts to reopen it bring the same result. My timemachine has been accidentally turned off. I have over 20,000 photos on iPhoto. Help!

First, copy your iPhoto Library to an external so that you have a backup.
Second, see if you can create a new Library and have it open. To do this, open iPhoto while holding down the Option key. It will ask which Library to use, or allow you to create a new Library. Save the new library with a different name from the old one.
If that does open with a new library, the old library is corrupt, but all the files are still OK.
If it is a corrupt Library, iPhoto Library Manager can repair some corruption, or transfer the Library over to a new one.

  • Scanning 35mm slides into iPhoto

Can I, and if so, how do I scan 35mm slides into an IMac? I have a Nikon Super Coolscan5000. I have plugged it into the USB port on the back of the IMac but the computer does not recognize the scanner.

Can I, and if so, how do I scan 35mm slides into an IMac? I have a Nikon Super Coolscan5000. I have plugged it into the USB port on the back of the IMac but the computer does not recognize the scanner.
Sure - all you need is a Mac compatible 35mm scanner with Mac software
From the Nikon page (found using Google)
    For Macintosh
CPU: Power PC G3 or later (G4 or later recommended).
    OS: Mac®OS 9 (9.1 or later), Mac®OS X (10.1.5 or later).
    * RAM: Mac®OS 9: 64MB or more (256MB or more is recommended), Mac®OS X: 128MB or more (512MB or more is recommended).
** Hard disk: 70MB required for installation (200MB is recommended) with an additional 200MB >(Mac®OS 9) or 550MB (Mac®OS X) of free disk space while Nikon Scan is running.
Display: 800 x 600 with 16-bit color (full color recommended).
Interface: * USB: Built-in USB 1.1 ports, USB 2.0. Others: CD-ROM drive required for installation.
my first suggestion would be to read the Nikon manual - it probably tells everything you need to use it on your Mac
Or take a look at Preview - it has the capability to import from scanners

  • Scanning old slides into iPhoto

I have some video clients asking me if I can take their old slides and put them onto DVD. Since I don't normally do much with photos, I'm rather ignorant on the issue. Can I get some help on this?
    1. Do I need special equipment to scan in slides?
    2. Do I need special software?
    1. Is there a way to scan in multiple slides at one time without losing quality?
    I welcome any recommendations!

You will need a flat bed scanner that has the transparency capability or a stand along slide scanner. The flatbed would allow you to scan multiple slides at the same time but you'll have to be careful if they vary a lot in their general darkness.
Any scanner you get will come with software for scanning. There are 3rd party applications like VueScan and Silverfast that are available.
Verify from your clients if they will want printable files or not. if they only want them for iDVD slideshows scanning will be considerable faster. Then you will only have to scan so the individual slide will end up at about 640 pixels 480 pixels x 100 dpi. That means that if you scan multiple slides at the same time you use a dpi setting that will give the 640 x 480 when you cut that slide out of the overall file with the multiple slides. Scanning individual slides you set the dpi accordingly. It will take a little math to figure out what to use and as a precaution scan on the high side, i.e. a final dpi of 200, greater if printing is desired. You can always scale down but not up and you may want to do some cropping before sending to iDVD.
If your clients also want to be able to print those files the resolution will be dependent on what size they want to print. The scan dpi will be up there, somewhere around 1600 or greater depending on the print size desired. So it's best to clarify the intended use of the scans with the client. The time for scanning, and thus your effort, will change considerably.
Here is a page discussing scan resolution for iMovie which would apply for iDVD and TV presentation: Dan Slagel's iMovie FAQ: What size should I scan my images?.
Also, you can Google "scan slides" or similar and get a lot of information on the subject. A lot will be for producing files for printing but the general information will be worthwhile.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • The front facing camera of the iPhone 5 automatically flips/mirrors the image right after it is taken. This is annoying since I would like for the image to look the same way it did while it was captured is there a way to stop this feature?

Right after I take a picture using the camera which is made to face you the image is flipped as soon as it saves to my library. Is there a fix for this? Ive read a few other posts saying apple intended for the software to do this but I was wondering if there was an option to turn this feature off.

I actually tried the steps below due to the error -5000 I had encountered during the previous tries updating my IOS to 5.1.1
"Perform a normal sync and check your iTunes to make sure everything was synced in the right places like the tabs at the top of your "summary" when you plug in your iPhone to iTunes.  If everything is there and all the right boxes are checked for the stuff you want to save, then put your phone into recovery mode by keeping it plugged into your computer with iTunes still up and running. Next you want hold down the power button AND the home key button (the big button on the bottom part of your screen) AT THE SAME TIME. Your phone will go thru 4 different screens before you
Can let them go.  U will see your normal power off slider screen, then a black screen, then a black screen with an apple logo, then finally a screen with the iTunes logo and a picture of a sync cable below it. Once you see this screen LET BOTH BUTTONS GO but not before you see this screen.  Your computer will tell you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode, say ok.  Then hit the restore button on your iTunes summary screen, it should then ask you if you want to restore from a backup and update, say yes.... And at the end of its restoring and uploading you should have iOS 5!!"
Then it proceeded to a reactivation process... =(
